This Life, I'm Raising the Right Man

Zhou Wangshu wrapped his arm around her slender waist, leaping away with her, directly escaping the danger zone.

However, the person at the front was startled by Su Yaoguang and Zhou Wangshu’s sudden stop, frightening his horse and causing him to fall off.

”Young Master...” The attendants behind quickly dismounted, hurriedly helping the young master up.

Su Yaoguang looked at the man and, based on memories from her past life, recognized his identity, and felt uneasy.

”Wang Shu, trouble’s here. This person is the Princely Heir of the Cheng’an Hou Mansion.”

A cold, malevolent gleam flashed in Zhou Wangshu’s eyes.

He examined the boy in front of him, noticing the child was about twelve years old, handsome but with a murderous look in his eyes.

”Who? Who dared to scare this princely heir’s horse? Show yourself!”

The surrounding people quickly backed away, leaving Su Yaoguang and Zhou Wangshu starkly conspicuous.

Xia Zhen approached with cold eyes: ”Was it you two who startled my horse, causing me to fall? Guards, take them away for me.”

”Princely Heir, our laws state that horses cannot be run in the market. This is a market, people are bustling about, and any oversight could lead to injury,” Su Yaoguang said, ”We merely failed to avoid in time. What charges can you use to arrest us? Or does the princely heir’s preference override the law?”

”Sharp-tongued,” Xia Zhen sneered, ”Let’s see you offend this princely heir again after I pull your teeth and cut your tongue.”

Zhou Wangshu shielded Su Yaoguang behind him.

He sensed Su Yaoguang’s fear.

This person was good-looking, but so young and already so cruel and ruthless; indeed, only a beast could raise such a beast, both deserving of death.

”The prince’s horse was startled because it’s sick,” Zhou Wangshu said, ”I have a better horse I can gift the princely heir, and ask the princely heir to forgive us this time, as we are new to the Capital City and unfamiliar with the rules.”

Today on the street, everyone witnessed their confrontation. If he acted here, Yaoguang would be implicated, so he had to endure it temporarily.

”You have a better horse? This princely heir’s horse was brought back from the Western Regions, worth a fortune.”

”Princely heir, rest assured, since I dare to offer, I will not disappoint you,” Zhou Wangshu said, ”The horse I have is a Ferghana Horse.”

”Oh?” Xia Zhen showed interest indeed.

Ferghana Horses are rare treasures, not something one can simply purchase. Even for the imperial family, obtaining such a horse requires immense effort and resources. It’s said that so far, only three Ferghana Horses have emerged: one in the Imperial Palace, one in the Eastern Palace, and one in the Prime Minister’s Mansion.

Su Yaoguang tugged at Zhou Wangshu’s sleeve, silently querying him, her eyes full of worry.

”Come, take me there at once,” Xia Zhen demanded.

”Princely heir, my wife is timid, may I let her return first?”

Xia Zhen waved a hand, signaling to release Su Yaoguang.

Su Yaoguang held Zhou Wangshu’s arm, ”I’ll go with you.”

”Don’t worry, I really have it,” Zhou Wangshu assured, ”Yesterday I met an old man selling horses and happened to come by one. I was thinking I couldn’t care for it myself, so I placed it at a horse ranch, intending to fetch it in a few days. Once I resolve this, I’ll return promptly for dinner with you.”

Su Yaoguang didn’t understand horses or know how precious that horse was, but Zhou Wangshu’s assured demeanor suggested it must be true.

”No...” Su Yaoguang said, ”I have to go and see.”

Su Yaoguang wanted to follow, but those men rode away swiftly, even Zhou Wangshu shared a horse with an attendant, disappearing from her sight.

Taoyao Square. Zhang Zhaodi saw Su Yaoguang return alone, glanced behind her, and didn’t see Zhou Wangshu.

”You really aren’t leaving Wang Shu at the academy to live, are you? Wang Shu’s life has been so hard, can’t you treat him better?”

”Wang Shu went out to buy me something to eat,” Su Yaoguang said, ”He’ll be back soon.”

”Don’t you know how to buy what you want yourself? Always bossing Wang Shu around just because he’s good-tempered,” Zhang Zhaodi said, ”Lucky for you it’s Wang Shu; if it were someone else, do you think they’d let you indulge your temper like this?”

”Mother, haven’t I been good to Wang Shu?”

”Not doing anything for him is what’s worst. You’re husband and wife. As a wife, shouldn’t you be thinking about taking care of and respecting your husband, instead of acting like siblings all the time? Anyone would mistake you for siblings rather than a married couple.”
