This Life, I'm Raising the Right Man

”What could be on my mind?” Zhou Wangshu used the wine flask to hide his emotions.

”If you don’t want to say, then forget it, I’ll just drink with you!” Su Yaoguang said, snatching the wine flask from his hand and taking a sip.

Zhou Wangshu leaned in and whispered in her ear, ”I just drank from that. Does this mean you tasted my saliva?”

”Ahem...” Su Yaoguang choked and pushed Zhou Wangshu’s face away. ”You cheeky brat, you’re getting more and more outrageous.”

Zhou Wangshu put his arm around her shoulder and said, ”Look how frightened you are, is it really necessary? We’ve at least slept in the same bed and shared the same pot of wine.”

”Wang Shu, we agreed before...”

”Ah, my head hurts...” Zhou Wangshu held his head, ”Ever since I got hit, it hurts now and then. I wonder if I’ll turn into a fool.”

Su Yaoguang rolled her eyes.

”If I turn into a fool, don’t even mention competing for the Champion Scholar title, I might not even be able to live a normal life. Yaoguang, you wouldn’t abandon me, would you?”

”Zhou Wangshu, didn’t we agree before...”

”I don’t remember saying anything,” Zhou Wangshu tipped his head back and drank.

”Why are you pretending to be clueless now?”

Zhou Wangshu tilted his head back, drank it all, put down the wine flask, and cupped Su Yaoguang’s face for a kiss.

”Wang...”

”Yaoguang, please don’t abandon me, okay?” Zhou Wangshu looked at her with reddened eyes, feeling wronged. ”You’re all I have.”

Su Yaoguang: ”...”

Zhou Wangshu’s mood was not quite right today.

”What’s really going on with you?”

”Today is my mother’s death anniversary.” Zhou Wangshu lay down and looked at the moon in the sky. ”I have no family left in this world.”

”Who says you don’t?” Su Yaoguang said, ”As long as you’re willing, I will always be your family.”

”If you want to be some kind of sister, you’d better give up on that! We are married on paper. If you have any special preferences, I can accommodate.”

Su Yaoguang: ”...”

Zhou Wangshu patted the spot beside him, ”Stay with me and watch the moon for a while.”

Su Yaoguang lay down.

Zhou Wangshu held her hand, interlocking their fingers.

”Wang Shu, are you from the Capital City?”

”Why do you ask?”

”I noticed that ever since you returned to the Capital City, you space out more and more,” Su Yaoguang said.

”Hmm.”

After a while, Zhou Wangshu didn’t hear any response from beside him. He turned his head to see Su Yaoguang asleep against his chest.

”You really don’t think of me as a man!” Zhou Wangshu said, feeling a bit wronged.

He took her in his arms and jumped off the roof.

Zhang Zhaodi emerged from the bathing room and, seeing Zhou Wangshu carrying Su Yaoguang back to the room, a mischievous smile flashed in her eyes.

After putting Su Yaoguang down, Zhou Wangshu tucked her in. As he was about to leave, he found the door locked.

”Wang Shu!” Zhang Zhaodi’s voice came from outside the door.

”Mother, why did you lock the door?” Zhou Wangshu asked.

”I used to say you were young and wanted you to wait a few more years before sharing a room, but now you’ve grown up, isn’t it inappropriate for you as a married couple to sleep separately?”

Zhou Wangshu glanced at Su Yaoguang on the bed, ”Mother, Yaoguang would be upset.”

”These are my arrangements, and let’s see if she dares to disobey. Just stay here tonight, and move your things in tomorrow.”

Zhou Wangshu chuckled, returned to the bed, and pinched Su Yaoguang’s nose, saying, ”It’s Mother’s idea, don’t blame me tomorrow, I’m an innocent victim too.”

Su Yaoguang slapped his hand away and turned over.

Zhou Wangshu took off his shoes and slipped under the covers.

Su Yaoguang was awoken by the heat. She opened her eyes, startled by the enlarged handsome face in front of her, and instinctively threw a punch.

Zhou Wangshu caught her fist, tucked it back under the blanket, and said, ”Be careful not to catch a cold.”

”Why are you here?” Su Yaoguang tried to sit up but was pushed back by Zhou Wangshu.

”It’s not dawn yet, what are you getting up for? Lie back down.”

”Zhou Wangshu!”

”Mother locked the door and said from today we need to share a room,” Zhou Wangshu explained, ”If you’re not happy about it, go take it up with Mother. I’m too tired and need to sleep.”

He then let out a yawn.

”Then you sleep, I’m fully rested, and want to get up...”

Su Yaoguang looked surprised as Zhou Wangshu turned over and pinned her down.

”Su Yaoguang, am I some kind of flood or beast for you to despise me so much?”

”No...” Su Yaoguang pushed him a little, looking slightly uneasy.

Zhou Wangshu’s lips curled into a smile, ”Wanna give me a kiss?”

”What?” Su Yaoguang thought she misheard.

”You always see me as a little brother, maybe because we met early, and I was so young then. In your memory, I remain in that image. Perhaps... you should start seeing me differently, realizing that I am a man...”
