Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 3133: Chapter 3069: Invitation Not Delivered

It’s been ten years already, and being separated for so long isn’t right; Cui Mingshan is almost no longer young.

”And as for Minglan, you say her staying home all the time isn’t ideal; Jingchang and Jingshen always live on campus and will be estranged from their parents in the future.”

”Your health is already not good, it’s a heart ailment, you shouldn’t worry about these things. Mingpei is not a child; she knows how to handle things herself.”

Of course, Commander Cui disagreed.

Back then, it was because he didn’t want her to worry about these things all day that he decided to send her to live in a sanatorium.

But these two daughters at home really disappointed him. Although he had said at the time that Madam needed complete rest and they shouldn’t disturb her, these two daughters really went almost three years without much visiting her.

Not disturbing, they could have gone quietly, quietly visiting and quietly returning.

But they didn’t.

Cui Minglan always spends the whole day at work, goes home and shuts herself in a room, doesn’t really interact with people, doesn’t talk much.

Cui Mingshan throws herself completely into her son Lin Jingyu, refusing to leave when he’s at home after school, fearing her son won’t be cared for.

These two daughters and daughter-in-law are not even as good as Jiang Xiao alone.

Commander Cui thought of Jiang Xiao again, and looked back at his wife.

”Xiao Chiang is getting married in a few days, what gift are we planning to give?”

”She hasn’t sent us an invitation paper yet; do you think the child might find it inconvenient to invite us?”

They’ve been waiting for Jiang Xiao’s invitation, but it hasn’t arrived.

Commander Cui and Madam Cui both wanted to attend Jiang Xiao’s wedding.

”Could she possibly not invite us?” Commander Cui’s face turned stern upon hearing this. In his view, their relationship with Jiang Xiao was more than close enough for her to send them an invitation and have them at her wedding.

If Jiang Xiao didn’t send it over, he would really be upset.

”That’s not what I mean. I mean, could she think my health isn’t suitable for such a lively occasion?” Madam Cui softly explained when she saw he was slightly annoyed. ”She is so considerate; you know that.”

Upon hearing this, Commander Cui’s expression relaxed.

He nodded and said, ”That’s very likely. Maybe you shouldn’t go; I can represent you and have a drink.”

”You could go by yourself. Maybe bring Zhenyan and his wife along to liven up Xiao Chiang’s wedding too.”

Madam Cui wanted to attend Jiang Xiao’s wedding, but she was also worried her health might not suit such an occasion.

”Alright, I’ll see. If it’s not possible, I’ll ask her to send invitations to Zhenyan and Mingyan’s brothers too.” Commander Cui said matter-of-factly. ”Have you prepared the wedding gift?”

”Prepared it already; didn’t you say to give her those South Sea Pearls before?”

”That’s just a small gift; for wedding congratulations, one strand of pearls isn’t enough, is it?” Commander Cui was not satisfied.

Madam Cui couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

In fact, a strand of South Sea Pearls is already a very valuable gift; she even thought Jiang Xiao might not accept it.

But previously, Commander Cui never bothered about such matters, gifts and such were always handled by her.

Later, when her heart ailment worsened, this task was handed over to Zeng Roufen, of course, after Zeng Roufen selected the wedding and return gifts, she would call Madam Cui for her thoughts, to which Madam Cui always had no opinions.

”Then why don’t we add some gold, more gold on a girl during her wedding is more festive,” Madam Cui said, ”and gold retains its value; it can always be used as money, having more gold is never wrong.”
