Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2902: Chapter 2838: Narrowing Down the Scope

Old Yang just smiled.

”That’s true, when there’s a problem with your health, you realize that staying healthy is what’s most important, everything else is superficial.”

”How is your health feeling now, Grandpa Yang?” Jiang Xiao asked.

Old Yang gave her a thumbs up, motioned for her to come closer, and said to her, ”Little, let me tell you, now I can eat a bowl of white rice and many dishes in one sitting, my appetite is great. If Grandma Yang wasn’t controlling me, I could easily eat two bowls.”

”You think I didn’t hear that?” Old Madam Yang said with a touch of annoyance, ”I was just thinking that since your body is just starting to recover, maybe your stomach hasn’t fully adjusted yet? You shouldn’t eat too much at first, we have to take it slow and give your body time to adapt. Little, don’t you think I’m right?”

Jiang Xiao nodded with a smile, ”Grandma Yang is right, besides, one bowl of rice should be enough for you, Grandpa Yang, you should try to control yourself.”

”Alright then, since you also say so, Little, I have no choice but to listen to you both.” Old Yang sighed in pretend helplessness.

During that meal, Jiang Xiao also temporarily put aside her thoughts and joined in their conversation while eating, and the atmosphere was quite pleasant.

After eating, Old Yang knew Jiang Xiao was still thinking about the envelope, so he took it to examine it more carefully.

Jiang Xiao brought over a small stool and sat beside him, watching with some nervousness.

”Grandpa Yang, this kind of envelope doesn’t seem special, right? Even if we can figure out where it was sent, there might be many government agencies involved?”

Plus, with so many government agencies and so many employees, it really won’t be easy to investigate.

Old Yang shook his head and said, ”I don’t know if you should consider yourself lucky or what, but this envelope paper should be second class. How to put it, some of our more important departments generally send out more important letters, so there’s also a requirement — folders, envelopes, they all need to be made from relatively sturdy paper. This kind even has a waterproof layer pressed on the backside of the paper, it’s not visible from the outside, but once you tear it open, you can see it clearly.”

Jiang Xiao looked and it was indeed true.

She didn’t find it particularly odd, but Old Yang revealed another small secret.

”And look, there’s a small string of numbers on the back of this envelope, do you see it?” Old Yang pointed out a string of numbers to her.

”What does this represent?”

”It was supposed to indicate the printing batch, but since I’m familiar with it, I know where this batch of paper was sent. That’s why I said maybe you got lucky, you happened to have me here.”

Old Yang chuckled.

”I’ll write down a few names of the agencies, and it’s very likely that eight or nine out of ten are using this batch of envelopes. As for how you continue your investigation afterward, Grandpa Yang can’t help you there.”

Jiang Xiao quickly nodded and said, ”Grandpa Yang, you’ve already helped me a great deal by getting this far!”

At least it narrowed the scope by a large margin, which was an unexpected delight.

Once Old Yang wrote down those agency names for Jiang Xiao, she looked through them, and all were ones she’d never heard of.

But she didn’t get discouraged, instead, she kept the list and planned to ask Ding Haijing and the others to make rounds at each agency and gather the employee lists for her.

Worst case, she would go through them one by one, seeing if there was anyone she knew.

If there’s someone she recognizes, that person’s suspicion would be greatly increased.
