Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2846: Chapter 2782: Wanting Freedom

”It’s about planning, life planning,” Jiang Xiao said. ”You can’t be my bodyguard forever, right?”

”Why not?”

Ding Haijing countered.

Jiang Xiao was taken aback.

What did he mean by that?

Could it be that he really wants to be her bodyguard for life?

But how is that possible?

Wouldn’t that be a waste of his talent?

Besides, she might not need a bodyguard for life.

Ding Haijing glanced back at her, seeing her a bit stunned, and chuckled, ”Tell me, in the short term, will you not need us?”

Jiang Xiao replied, ”Not in the short term.”

She didn’t even know how many things needed handling; having someone to rely on was naturally much better than handling everything alone.

At least until they catch that Dragon King, she still needed people around.

And she couldn’t guarantee how long it would take to catch the Dragon King and avenge herself.

So, in the short term, she still needed Ding Haijing and the others.

”Then that’s settled, isn’t it? So why think so much? I’ll be your bodyguard for now, and we’ll think about it when you don’t need us anymore; it’s not too late. What’s the point of overthinking now?”

”But don’t you have something you want to do?”

Ding Haijing thought for a moment and shook his head.

”Not really. If you ask what I used to want, it was probably freedom.”

”Freedom?”

”Yeah, because where I used to be, the discipline was too strict. Every day, even the time to eat and sleep was fixed, so back then, I always thought if I could find a job after leaving that would support me and be a bit free, that would be enough.”

”But being by my side now doesn’t seem very free either,” Jiang Xiao said.

”Why isn’t it free? Every morning, I wake up whenever I want, drive you around, and when you’re busy, I can still nap in the car. Plus, you often think of ways to give us holidays.”

Ding Haijing smiled and added, ”Besides, you can’t really control me much, can you?”

If that’s not freedom, then what is?

Jiang Xiao’s face was full of black lines.

”You mean how you’re often the one managing or scolding me?”

Well, from that perspective, he is quite free. He criticizes when he wants to and lectures when he wants to.

When he doesn’t want a holiday, nothing she says can make him take one.

Seriously.

Ding Haijing couldn’t help but laugh too.

”But, for now, it’s because I don’t want to find a wife yet. Once I do, I might leave and see what she wants me to do. If it’s something I like, I’ll go with her opinion.”

Jiang Xiao giggled.

”You really are quite accommodating.”

Just listen to others then.

”What else? Why live so hard?”

Jiang Xiao nodded.

That makes sense too.

A couple of days later, Madam Cui mentioned something about Meng Xinian to Jiang Xiao.

”The Alliance Officials said they support Meng Xinian in this matter, so he didn’t get punished, but a few others did.”

Hearing this news, Jiang Xiao finally felt relieved.

It was only then that she casually inquired about what exactly had happened.

As expected, it was the same as Li Hanzhong had told her before.

The other side wanted them to go into the rebel camp to rescue hostages.
