Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2834: Chapter 2770: The Proposal

Just this half-day, she ultimately asked Ding Haijing to pick up Wang Yi to accompany her.

Wang Yi has recently put on a bit of weight, her face looking round and plump, but in this day and age, her look is actually quite popular, and the elders seem to like it even more.

So when Wang Yi told her she found some romantic luck, Jiang Xiao teased her for a while.

However, she was truly happy for Wang Yi.

Being cheerful and chubby means Wang Yi has really been living happily and relaxed lately.

”Are those two romantic interests good or bad?”

”What do you mean by good and what do you mean by bad?” Wang Yi asked.

”Good means the other person’s conditions are favorable and you feel a bit of affection, bad means you don’t like them and the other person’s conditions aren’t good.”

”If you say it like that, then I don’t really know if they’re good or not.”

Wang Yi said, ”Both of their conditions are quite good, and I don’t dislike them. However, it’s also impossible to develop anything with them, so would you say that’s good or bad?”

”Chen Yin hasn’t made any advances recently?”

”How could he not?” Wang Yi laughed, ”He proposed to me again yesterday, in the cinema.”

”Ah? Proposed again?” Jiang Xiao asked wide-eyed, ”Did you agree?”

”Guess.”

Hearing Wang Yi say that, Jiang Xiao immediately responded, ”Since you said that, you must have agreed!”

If she hadn’t agreed, she wouldn’t have let her guess, she’d have just said no right away.

”Yes.” Wang Yi nodded. ”I agreed.”

”Really?” Jiang Xiao was quite surprised, yet felt it was expected.

After all, they’ve been dating for several years now; in this era, who dates for so long?

They aren’t childhood sweethearts growing up together either.

Usually, you’d get married once the relationship is stable enough.

Besides, they aren’t young anymore, at this point it could definitely be considered a late marriage.

The families must be very anxious.

However, she couldn’t resist asking, ”Have you really thought it through?”

”I’ve thought it through,” Wang Yi nodded, ”You know I’m already at this age. If I start another relationship, I can’t guarantee I’ll understand his character in a short amount of time, and moreover, is it possible for me to date several more years again?”

Jiang Xiao nodded, feeling it made sense.

”At least now I understand Chen Yin clearly, so it’s like giving him a chance, and giving myself a chance. To love just one person in this life and being able to marry him, even with little heartache from the past, it’s just that life can’t be perfect.”

”I find you’re much more easygoing now,” Jiang Xiao said.

”It’s quite good, being open-minded makes oneself happier too.”

”Yes, it’s quite good. Have you set your wedding date yet?”

”Not yet, waiting for both parents to sit down for dinner and discuss, then we’ll choose a date.” Wang Yi glanced at Jiang Xiao sideways, ”I don’t care, you better come.”

”Of course I’ll come to your wedding.”

Jiang Xiao said matter-of-factly.

She indeed has only one friend like this in her life.

Come to think of it, she actually has more male friends now, although not purely platonic — like Zhu Shun, Ding Haijing, and even Director Wei could be counted, anyone she could chat with — but only Wang Yi is a true female friend.

Her affinity for close female friendships is really lacking.

”What are you thinking, I meant, when both families are dining to discuss wedding matters, you also need to come,” Wang Yi laughed.

”No way, I have to go too?” Jiang Xiao was wide-eyed.

What would she do when the two families are meeting to discuss marriage?

”Of course, if you’re there, my heart can be more settled.”

Wang Yi said.

Jiang Xiao couldn’t help but laugh.

”Okay, okay, I’ll definitely come when the time comes, but when will that be?”
