Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2797: Chapter 2733: Can She Bear the Responsibility?

But now she couldn’t resist asking, ”The child from the Wei Family is very good, but the girl I’m talking about is excellent too.”

”Oh?” Commander Cui heard that she had a good impression of the girl and couldn’t help but ask with interest, ”How good?”

”She’s very good-looking, just looking at her makes people feel close to her.”

”There are plenty of pretty girls outside nowadays.” Commander Cui shook his head with a smile.

Is being pretty the only thing that matters?

A young man like Wei Yixi is surrounded by beautiful girls, and being just pretty wouldn’t really be a match for him.

”I haven’t finished speaking yet.” Madam Cui said softly, ”This child is not only beautiful but also very talented, she’s a painter.”

”A painter? An eighteen-year-old painter?”

”Yes indeed, she even went to Country Y to compete, won first prize, and attended a Royal Family of Country Y banquet.”

This time, Commander Cui was surprised, ”So impressive?”

”Yes, she’s amazing. And she can make pastries too. Look, what I just ate was made by her own hands, it’s particularly delicious, I’ve already eaten two pieces, you should try it too.”

”Forget it, you know I’m not interested in these sweet things.”

”It’s not sweet and greasy, it has a green tea flavor, you should try that one, it’s light and refreshing, with a pleasant tea aroma, it’s suitable for you.”

As Madam Cui spoke, she opened the box, took out a piece of green matcha-flavored pastry, and handed it over.

With the pastry already in his hand, Commander Cui had no choice but to accept it. It looked somewhat novel. ”Can pastries be made with a tea flavor? Made from tea leaves?”

”Xiao Chiang said she carefully ground top-quality tea leaves into powder, and when making these pastries, tea leaf powder was used to filter the juice for color and no white sugar was added, only a little wild honey, meticulously blended for flavor.”

Hearing Madam Cui’s description, Commander Cui thought it sounded good and took a bite.

His eyes lit up immediately.

”Hmm, the taste is just right, fresh and clean, with a hint of sweetness in the tea aroma, delicious, really tasty.”

He finished the pastry in one bite and looked towards the box.

”Oh, they even used such an exquisite wooden box to pack it?”

”Yes, this box can be kept to store other things; isn’t it beautiful? The patterns on it were all drawn by Xiao Chiang herself.”

”She’s really a skillful and clever child.”

Commander Cui wanted to eat more, but he thought if he ate another piece, Madam Cui would have one less, so he was reluctant.

But Madam Cui handed him another piece, ”You can have another one; Xiao Chiang sent three boxes.”

Commander Cui originally wanted to say no, but he couldn’t control himself and reached out to take it.

He usually didn’t like these pastries, but this one was just too delicious.

”Is there something she wants?”

Commander Cui wasn’t someone who could be bought with just two pastries; though he ate them, he asked immediately.

If someone comes seeking help with gifts, isn’t that usually the case they want something?

Though he verbally agreed with Madam Cui, he felt a bit displeased inside.

If it was for personal matters and she sought out his wife, it would displease him.

Knowing well that his wife had a heart condition and didn’t meet outsiders, and she went to the trouble of finding Old Madam Wei to bring her here.

If she startled his wife, could she bear that responsibility?

This was all because in front of his wife, Commander Cui restrained his sternness and seriousness, casually asking just this one question.
