Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2613: Chapter 2549: Sharp as a Dog’s Nose

Moreover, Chiang Xiao had drawn this person for them before. Her artistry was exceptional, her paintings almost like photographs, so Ding Haijing recognized Hu Xiangyong at a glance.

”Excuse me, is this the Chiang Family residence? My surname is Hu, I have some matters to discuss with Xiao Chiang.”

Hu Xiangyong was carrying a small suitcase, appearing very courteous.

”Surname Hu? Hu what?”

”Hu Xiangyong, the Xiang of aspiration, the Yong of mediocrity.”

Hu Xiangyong wasn’t angry despite being questioned so bluntly, responding politely as ever.

Aspiration and mediocrity?

Even Ding Haijing felt this sounded somewhat mocking.

If this name wasn’t his real name, it could be reasonable. If it truly was his real name, then it’s laughable. Does this person seem the least bit mediocre in aspiration?

”Wait here, I’ll ask her if she knows you. I can’t just let people in randomly.”

As Ding Haijing spoke, he closed the door with a snap and quickly walked into the living room.

”Xiao Chiang, should we send him away?”

”No, let him come in.” Chiang Xiao frowned. She wanted to hear what Hu Xiangyong’s purpose was. Besides, he’s already found the house; sending him away once won’t prevent future visits.

If she dared not meet him, it would seem strange to the other party.

For now, she just needed to pretend nothing was amiss and handle him like any other guest.

Ding Haijing nodded and went out to open the door.

”Sorry, I don’t know you, so my attitude wasn’t very good. Xiao Chiang is home, please come in.” Ding Haijing, opening the door again, apologized with a smile to Hu Xiangyong.

”It’s alright. And you are?” Hu Xiangyong asked as he entered.

”I work for Xiao Chiang, doing odd jobs. She’s my employer.”

”You look quite spirited, have you learned martial arts?” Hu Xiangyong smiled.

Ding Haijing nodded, ”I learned a bit, my skills are decent.”

He knew that telling Hu Xiangyong he hadn’t learned martial arts at all would be implausible; the other party would surely see through him.

An outsider might not discern the difference, but those trained in martial arts for years could quickly spot the distinction between someone who has or hasn’t trained.

A steady stance, strong steps, upright walking posture, these were all benefits of years of practice.

So Ding Haijing didn’t humble himself in saying his skills were decent.

Just how decent those skills were would be up to Hu Xiangyong to speculate. Just as Ding Haijing had sensed the danger brought by Hu Xiangyong even before meeting him face-to-face, Hu Xiangyong would certainly be aware of him too.

Fortunately, Hu Xiangyong had clearly come alone; at least, around the house, Ding Haijing didn’t feel anyone else lurking.

Chiang Xiao stood at the living room door, observing Hu Xiangyong as he entered, saying, ”Mr. Hu, such a rare visitor, what brings you here?”

Hu Xiangyong laughed, somewhat helplessly saying, ”Mr. Hu had no choice, Miss Chiang is so hard to invite, I had to come personally.”

”Hard to invite?” Chiang Xiao replied, ”How so? Mr. Hu hasn’t invited me anywhere, has he?”

”Mr. Hu misspoke, misspoke, Mr. Hu means inviting Miss Chiang to put pen to paper.” Hu Xiangyong looked at Chiang Xiao with a smile, ”May Mr. Hu come in?”

”Please come in, Mr. Hu,” Chiang Xiao stepped aside welcomingly.

Hu Xiangyong entered, took a seat, and looking at Chiang Xiao seated across, said, ”Miss Chiang, do you habitually use perfume? Rose? It’s quite scarce in the country.”

Chiang Xiao’s heart skipped a beat.

This fellow’s nose was indeed sharp like a dog’s.

He instantly sniffed out the rose fragrance.
