Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2289: Chapter 2225: What Illness Is This

She took a piece, carefully broke off a small corner, and put it in her mouth.

”It’s really delicious, even with bad teeth you can eat it.”

”Alright, Old Zhang, your teeth aren’t that bad,” Old Yang suddenly said with reddened eyes. ”You don’t eat much because you’re worried about me, afraid I’ll be tempted, afraid I’ll smell the food but can’t eat it and feel sad, so you’ve used the excuse of bad teeth for the past two years to drink rice soup and eat porridge with me every day.”

Chiang Xiao looked at them, feeling a bit moved.

For an elderly couple to still have such deep feelings, that’s true love.

She wondered if she and Meng Xinian would be like this when they grew old.

”I’m old, I’ve eaten everything, and there’s nothing I particularly like, besides, eating porridge is pretty good,” Mother Yang said, still nervously watching him. ”Old man, are you really not feeling unwell?”

Old Yang shook his head and looked at Chiang Xiao.

”Xiao Chiang, what did you put in this mung bean cake?”

”Nothing much, it’s just that the water I used had a little herb added, so if Old Yang doesn’t feel unwell, you can try some more.”

”Xiao Chiang, is it really something you can eat?” Mother Yang looked at her a bit uneasily.

”Try it little by little,” Chiang Xiao said.

Meng Xinian went back next door, put two scoops of rice on to cook, since Chiang Xiaoxiao was here, they would definitely cook dinner themselves at night, it was like opening the kitchen in his house.

The rice was cooking, but she still hadn’t returned.

He waited restlessly for a while, couldn’t stand it any longer, and went over to knock on the door.

”Old Man Yang!”

He didn’t even call him Old Yang anymore, just Old Man Yang.

This was too much, not giving his wife back to him.

The door opened, and Chiang Xiao stood inside, blinking at him.

Meng Xinian’s frustration vanished the moment he saw her like this.

He pitifully took her hand, ”Little, let’s go home, I’m cooking, tonight I’ll cook, you just wait and eat. We haven’t opened the kitchen in our place yet, you need to come home.”

He used to envy those in the Alliance who had wives and children to accompany them, the atmosphere in the dormitory was particularly lively, after a day’s training tasks they could go home to eat, it was a great feeling.

So now that Chiang Xiao was here, he also wanted to experience that kind of life.

”Tonight, Big Master and the wife will eat with us,” Chiang Xiao said.

Meng Xinian was momentarily stunned, the smile vanished from his lips, he pulled Chiang Xiao back home, closed the door, and said to her, ”Did you invite Old Yang and his family?”

”Yes, I did. I just saw that Old Yang planted a lot of vegetables on the rooftop, he already promised I could go up and pick them myself.”

”Old Yang can’t eat,” Meng Xinian said.

He was a bit annoyed, he should have explained this to Little earlier.

”Yes, I haven’t asked you, why can’t he eat? You really respect him, right? Why didn’t you ever tell me?”

Chiang Xiao was puzzled about this.

Logically, Meng Xinian should have told her, and then given Old Yang something she made to try.

”Even if I told you, there’s nothing that can be done, he can’t eat, whenever he eats he vomits badly, your things are supposed to be eaten to be effective, aren’t they?”

”He can drink rice soup and eat fruits.”

”That’s just him fooling Mother Yang and Yang Zhiqi,” Meng Xinian said.

Chiang Xiao was taken aback.
