Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2259: Chapter 2195: A Friendship Like This

Gao Wei immediately looked at Du Jinruo, his eyes burning with intensity, ”Alright then, be with me, be my girlfriend. However cultured you want me to be, I’ll do it. If I can’t, you can hit me, scold me, whatever—I’ll be yours to manage, how about that?”

”Can you stop spouting nonsense?” Du Jinruo’s face stiffened, and she glared at him before turning nervously to Kevin, ”Let’s go upstairs and sit.”

”If you and this Mr. Gao are friends, you can chat with him. I’m fine by myself,” Kevin said warmly, seemingly unfazed by Gao Wei’s earlier rudeness.

”Hey, man, you’re quite understanding.” Gao Wei grinned and reached out to pull Du Jinruo.

Du Jinruo was both anxious and angry. She immediately swatted his hand away, then stepped closer to Kevin, ”No need, how could I leave you alone? Come on, let’s go upstairs and sit.”

As she spoke, Du Jinruo moved to hook Kevin’s arm.

The fact that he didn’t mind earlier made her a bit anxious.

Could it be that Kevin really had no feelings for her at all? She wanted to be a little more assertive.

But as her hand reached out, Kevin discreetly raised his hand and pointed to a corner not far away, ”Why don’t we sit there instead?”

Gao Wei saw Du Jinruo’s movements.

Even he couldn’t tell if Kevin deliberately avoided Du Jinruo’s hand or genuinely didn’t notice and happened to miss her approach while pointing the way.

But no matter which it was, it made him feel very irritable inside.

He suddenly reached out and grabbed Du Jinruo’s arm, pulling her abruptly.

Because he used too much force, Du Jinruo lost her balance and ended up being pulled into his embrace.

Gao Wei immediately wrapped his arms around her, leaned down, and said, ”Xiao Ruo, how am I inferior to this fake foreigner? You wouldn’t really be into him, right?”

”Gao Wei, let go of me! Are you crazy?”

Du Jinruo struggled fiercely, glaring at him angrily.

”Why should I let go? Xiao Ruo, I realize my previous attempts to pursue you were too gentle. From now on, how about I be a bit more forceful?”

”Let go!”

Du Jinruo was both anxious and angry, involuntarily glancing at Kevin.

Kevin frowned slightly and said to Gao Wei, ”Mr. Gao, isn’t it rather ungentlemanly to be forcing a lady like this?”

”To hell with your gentlemanly conduct.”

Gao Wei spat in Kevin’s direction, ”Don’t talk to me with those annoying and pretentious words. Xiao Ruo and I have known each other since childhood; we grew up together, understand? Is it any of your business what happens between us? Didn’t you just say you could sit alone? Then go sit by yourself, farther away!”

”Kevin!” Du Jinruo couldn’t break free, her eyes turned red, and she looked at Kevin pleadingly, ”I don’t want to be with him.”

”Xiao Ruo, saying that really breaks my heart. We grew up together; don’t forget, that time at school when it suddenly happened, I was the one who took off my clothes to cover for you. You stained my clothes with blood. With the kind of bond we have, you now say you don’t want to be with me?”

Gao Wei’s words made Du Jinruo both angry and embarrassed, nearly spitting out blood.

That was an accident back then, yes, at the time she was very grateful for Gao Wei saving her from a huge embarrassment in front of others. But did that mean they must have a special relationship?

”Gao Wei!” Her voice became sharp with anger and exasperation.
