Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2288: Chapter 2224: Unable to Eat

”Getting older, I feel like my time is almost up, so there’s nothing to be done.” Old Yang was quite at peace with it.

Chiang Xiao opened the box of snacks and handed it to him, ”Big Master, please try it. I guarantee it’s delicious, made with mung beans, very sweet and refreshing.”

Seeing her insist for him to eat the mung bean cake, Old Yang chuckled and picked up a piece, ”Alright then, I’ll give it a try.”

He was worried he’d feel sick after eating, so he just took a small bite, still wondering how come this young lady’s personality is so different from Meng Xinian, feeling a bit overwhelmed by her enthusiasm, why insist on him eating?

But after that small bite, the refreshing sweetness of mung beans made him unable to resist, and before realizing, he took a second bite.

And this second bite was quite a big one.

Previously, eating anything made him feel nauseous, light meals would leave his stomach uncomfortable all day, serious ones would make him vomit and have diarrhea, and he could only sip some rice soup or have some fruit to get by.

He was fearful of food now.

”Hey, old man, how come you’re eating?” Mother Yang came in with a plate of sliced apples, and seeing Old Yang eating the mung bean cake, the plate nearly dropped, but Chiang Xiao swiftly caught it.

She hadn’t expected Mother Yang’s reaction to be so intense.

Could it be that Old Yang’s health really had severe issues?

Chiang Xiao instinctively picked up a cup from the table, quietly pouring half a cup of Spirit Spring Water, ready to have him drink in case any problem occurred.

But, Old Yang had that piece of mung bean cake without any issue.

After two bites, he didn’t dare to eat more, wanting to wait and see if anything went wrong.

Mother Yang watched him anxiously, ”How are you feeling? Do you feel like vomiting?”

Old Yang, after waiting a long while, felt no discomfort at all; in fact, the sweet taste of mung beans lingered in his mouth, making him want to eat the remaining half.

”This mung bean cake is really delicious, melts in the mouth, very sweet.” He slowly said, turning to Chiang Xiao, ”Let your Big Mama try one too.”

Chiang Xiao felt relieved.

If anything happened to Old Yang, she’d feel terribly guilty.

The reason she urged him to try one just now was that these snacks were originally made for Tyrant Meng. The snacks she made for him had more Spirit Spring Water added than those for sale.

So, if Old Yang can eat them, it’s considered a good deed she’s done.

She had just found out that Old Yang and Meng Xinian had such a deep connection in the past, and now it’s clear Meng Xinian’s interaction with Old Yang was different from others.

Meng Xinian even retains a hint of his youthful mischievous side in front of Old Yang.

That’s why she wanted to repay Old Yang.

And now, the Spirit Spring Water hasn’t let her down.

Seeing that he really hadn’t shown any adverse reactions, Mother Yang was overjoyed, clapped her hands excitedly, ”Oh dear, old man, you can eat!”

Old Yang had his health checked many times but could never identify the problem, just that his digestive system was poor, and after taking many medicines it didn’t get better. They thought it’d remain that way, yet now he could eat half a cake.

”Yes, it’s very tasty. Have a try.” Old Yang’s eyes were a bit moist.

Chiang Xiao also presented the snacks to Mother Yang.
