Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2287: Chapter 2223: A Bit of Grudge

Chiang Xiao raised her eyebrows, ”So this was a previous generation’s ’grudge’.”

”Old Yang was very angry, but there was nothing he could do.”

At this point, Old Yang proudly said, ”What do you mean, nothing could be done? You all don’t know, a gentleman’s revenge is never too late, even after ten years. Didn’t I lure that kid Meng Xinian into the Alliance too? Back then, he came to steal my vegetables, and I caught him. I told him that in his entire life he wouldn’t amount to anything, at most he’d just steal vegetables, mess around, occasionally get into fights, and end up either in jail or beaten up.”

Chiang Xiao couldn’t help but laugh.

Back then, Meng Xinian, behaving like a little devil incarnate, surely wouldn’t have taken it lying down.

”He insisted that his future achievements would surpass anyone’s, so I took the opportunity to coax him. I said, there’s no way, unless you go down the Supervisor Guard path, otherwise you won’t have a chance. But with his rascal behavior, no one would want him as a Supervisor Guard. Provoked by this, he actually went to become a Supervisor Guard.”

Old Yang winked proudly as he said, ”Back in the day, when he went to submit his application, he was too young, so I secretly came up with a way to sneak him in, just to see what being a Supervisor Guard was like. Turns out, he really managed to get in.”

Mother Yang shook her head helplessly, ”Tsk, look at you, how old are you, Meng Donghai gets your son to be a Supervisor Guard, and you really coax his grandson into it too.”

Only then did Old Yang sigh and say, ”What other choice was there? Back then, that kid was getting into fights every day. His dad wouldn’t manage him, and when people came looking for him, he’d grab a broom to beat him. I saw he was suffering in that family; staying there any longer would ruin his life. Becoming a Supervisor Guard gave him more, that rascal just needed to get into the Alliance for some serious training. And look, reality proved he was quite suited for the Alliance.”

So that’s how Meng Xinian got into the Alliance at such a young age.

Chiang Xiao felt it was worthwhile for her to come, at least she got to hear such a story.

”To my mind, Little Meng owes it to meeting Little Chiang,” Mother Yang said with a smile, looking at Chiang Xiao. ”I find this girl so likable, she’s really pretty. I’ll go wash some small apples for you to eat.”

”Thank you, auntie.” Chiang Xiao quickly expressed her gratitude and then handed over the box of mung bean-flavored pastries.

”I made this myself, please try some.”

Old Yang shook his head and said, ”I just said that in passing, my body’s not very cooperative now. I can’t eat much of anything; I just drink some rice soup and have a little fruit every day. Your auntie also can’t handle sweets due to her teeth, giving this to us is just a waste, you should take it back and eat it yourself. No need to be polite when you’re here with Big Master.”

Chiang Xiao had called him ”Uncle” before, but since he referred to himself as ”Big Master,” she went along with it.

”Big Master, why can’t you eat anything?”

”I don’t know the reason either, maybe it’s because I’m old and everything’s just breaking down. I just can’t eat. All those fruits and vegetables I grow every day are really just picked for Zhiqi to eat, and sometimes for Little Meng.”

So when Meng Xinian stole that tomato, he said it deliberately, knowing full well that it was likely to end up in the stomachs of him and Yang Zhiqi.

”Then why didn’t Tyrant Meng tell me about it?”

Chiang Xiao found it very strange.

Old Yang found her question even more puzzling.

He wondered, why should this kind of thing be mentioned to her?

Would telling her change anything?

”Big Master, isn’t just drinking some rice soup and eating a little fruit every day really not enough? You must feel very hungry, right?”
