Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2100: Chapter 2036: More Mature Than You

After Old Meng left, Cheng Cheng finally came in after a while, as he didn’t enter earlier because he saw they were discussing something.

”What’s up, not going to sleep?” Meng Xinian glanced at him.

”What’s up, more trouble?”

”Trouble will get resolved; don’t tell Little.”

”I have no interest in being that kind of messenger,” Cheng Cheng said. ”I’m leaving tomorrow afternoon, regardless of whether my godfather undergoes surgery.”

This was his promise to Ah Liu.

Wherever he’s needed, he’ll go.

This is also another way for him to guard his godfather and Little.

Meng Xinian was taken aback for a moment but then thought it was normal, as he had suspected Cheng Cheng would agree.

”Go ahead, do well, it’s a good opportunity for you,” he said.

Cheng Cheng chuckled softly.

”Alright, don’t act so mature and composed in front of me. People who don’t know might think you’re my big brother, brother-in-law.”

”I am inherently more mature and steady than you.”

”Tsk, people who say things like that just seem childish.”

After a bit of bantering, Chiang Songhai had already prepared lunch. After lunch, Cheng Cheng went to rest, and Meng Xinian took lunch to the hospital.

Ah Liu felt much better after waking up today.

So he felt that there was no need to have surgery so soon.

He’s trying hard to persuade Chiang Xiao.

”Look at me, I probably just got a bit tired from absorbing too much information over the past few days, so I wasn’t resting well, which made my head hurt. Now that I’ve had enough rest, and with your potion, I’m feeling much better, right? Now it’s only the seventh day of the lunar new year. When choosing the date earlier, wasn’t there an option in March? How about you and Xinian change to March, and then I have my surgery in May. What do you think?”

Chiang Xiao sat in front of him, unmoved.

”Not happening.”

”Little, right now, Daddy thinks it’s also good if I can see you get married sooner.”

”It’s not like you won’t see it in the future. How about this: you have the surgery first and then recover well. After that, Brother Xinian and I will get married. If you want us to get married sooner, then have the surgery sooner.”

Ah Liu sighed helplessly.

It seemed he couldn’t persuade her.

Actually, he could have surgery anytime, but after this fainting incident, he suddenly felt that if he couldn’t wake up on the operating table, wouldn’t that mean he couldn’t see Chiang Xiao get married?

That would truly be a regret.

It would be better to watch her happily married, then he could go onto the operating table without any worries. Wouldn’t that be better?

In Chiang Xiao’s view, letting her father be healthy enough to enjoy a glass of wedding wine at her and Meng Xinian’s wedding, and seeing her father smile relaxedly, would allow her to marry without worries, with only Meng Xinian in her heart that day.

It would be fairer for both of them.

Instead of worrying about her father on her big day.

Both father and daughter were adamant in their beliefs now, neither able to persuade the other.

Fortunately, there was Meng Xinian.

When Meng Xinian arrived, he broke the one-to-one deadlock.

”Dad, I support Little. I’m on her side, and I discussed this with her last night and we’ve decided. We’ll pick a new date to discuss wedding matters once your health improves.”

And he had already decided that next time they would just go ahead and hold the wedding.

After all, they weren’t the ostentatious types. The guests would only be those with whom they had good, close relationships. By giving them a heads-up, he believed they wouldn’t spread the word anyway.
