Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2055: Chapter 1991: A Trace of Hostility

”I think he’s really tired of living, offending people he shouldn’t have. Look, that person called and told us to feed him sleeping pills directly. When he should wake up, we still need to see that person.”

”This is already good enough; at least they didn’t ask us to beat him, just to keep him quiet. I heard someone will come to take him away later, so we complete our task. Saves us trouble, dealing with this stuff during the New Year is really annoying.”

”Yeah, we’ll just keep watch for another day, and once he’s taken away, we’re done.”

Meng Xinian hung up the phone, a flicker of ferocity in his eyes.

He rarely hated someone so much, but Kuang Kanzhi was one of them.

Before his wedding, no one should think of causing trouble for him.

He’s now hoping for Chiang Xiaoxiao to return.

Hoping she’ll be back in the Capital the day after tomorrow.

This feeling of time dragging, he’s truly experiencing it now.

After Cheng Cheng called him, he arranged for someone to deal with Kuang Kanzhi’s matters, and now he’s at ease knowing Cheng Cheng is guarding things over in the Capital.

Just unsure about how things are going on the Chiang Family side in City M.

Meng Xinian initially wanted to make a call there, but he soon had training tasks, leaving him no time until evening.

He waited until after dinner to find time.

Called the Chiang Family in City M, and surprisingly, the person answering was Xu Linjiang.

Meng Xinian was somewhat surprised.

”Is it Xinian?” Xu Linjiang was quite pleased, even relieved, ”To tell you the truth, I’ve been on standby here all day.”

After lunch, feeling uneasy, he went alone to the police station to see Kuang Kanzhi, to get some clarification on the situation. However, the police told him Kuang Kanzhi was asleep, and they couldn’t let him meet. They subtly hinted that someone might come to take Kuang Kanzhi away by evening.

Xu Linjiang contemplated and figured Meng Xinian must have learned about this and made arrangements.

But he wasn’t entirely sure, so he was keeping watch on the phone, wondering if Meng Xinian would call, and he actually did.

At this time, the rain outside had stopped, Little Bean Bun couldn’t stay home, so Chiang Songhai and the others said they wanted to go out for a walk.

He was left alone here to keep watch on the phone.

”Uncle-in-law, is there something going on?”

”About that, Xinian, do you know about the matter of the Kuang guy from the Capital coming here?”

”Yeah, I know.”

Xu Linjiang breathed a sigh of relief, saying, ”I thought so too. Nothing major, just wanted to share Aunt and Uncle’s thoughts today.”

After he recounted the day’s events, Meng Xinian’s face darkened for a long time.

Unconsciously picking up a pencil in the pen holder and twirling it in his hand, thinking of Ge Liutao’s plans, he exerted some strength with his fingers, and with a snap, broke the pencil.

He snapped back to reality, suppressing the fierce emotions inside, his expression calmed down, ”Uncle-in-law, thank you.”

”Thank me for what. Are you alright?”

”I’m alright.”

What could happen to him?

Chen Zhu is indeed an irrelevant stranger to him.

He’s just worried about Chiang Xiaoxiao feeling sad; otherwise, how could these people affect his mood?

”Uncle-in-law, I will handle this matter, you need not worry about it.”

With Meng Xinian’s reassurance, Xu Linjiang was also at ease.

”Alright, then we’ll leave it to you.”

”When are you coming to the Capital?”

”Train tickets are already bought, it’s the train at nine-thirty tomorrow morning, we’ll arrive on the fifth day, looks like we can’t really help with your wedding, just going there for the feast.”
