Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 649: Chapter 650: Give Me a Room

”Yes!” Chu Liang responded loudly.

Meng Xinian looked at Chiang Xiao, his expression seeming to ask, ’Satisfied?’

Chiang Xiao was silent.

”Since you’ve tossed this responsibility over to me, shouldn’t there be some compensation?” Meng Xinian looked at her.

”What compensation?”

Meng Xinian said, ”This place counts as my home too, leave a room for me, so if I come to the city in the future, I’ll stay here.”

This matter...

Chiang Xiao felt there was nothing wrong with it.

But when Meng Xinian chose his room, she became somewhat exasperated.

”Why can’t you stay downstairs, but must stay upstairs?”

Meng Xinian’s expression was very calm, ”Aren’t you staying upstairs?”

”I am!”

She had originally chosen a room upstairs as well; it was quieter, and clearly, the grandparents preferred not to climb up and down, so they took the first floor.

However, there were two rooms on the second floor, and she had planned to turn one into her bedroom and the other into a painting studio.

Yet Meng Xinian pointed to one of the upstairs rooms, declaring he wanted it as his bedroom.

Doesn’t he have any consciousness of being a guest?

There will be guest rooms on the first floor when the time comes, he could just stay in one of them!

”We’re both on the second floor, and you want a painting studio?” Meng Xinian could tell what she was thinking by her expression, ”Choose a room downstairs for your studio then. In the future, if you have artwork to display and people come to admire it, they won’t need to go upstairs, will they? The first floor is better suited for entertaining guests.”

Chiang Xiao: ”...”

Why did she feel like what he said made a lot of sense?

How was she convinced just like that?

So, the matter was settled by Meng Xinian just like that.

The renovation was left to Chu Liang; Chiang Xiao had him check on where to buy cement, sand, and furniture, and to wait until she’d drawn a rough sketch of the interior design before starting the renovations.

Mostly because she didn’t have any money right now!

Poor, so poor she felt like crying.

Since the affairs here were settled, Chiang Xiao formally decided to take her grandparents back to Peace Town.

Because the summer vacation was nearly over, and she would soon be a junior high third-year student.

Meng Xinian left Tian M City a day ahead of her; he was beginning special training again. It was said that after the training, they had a mission, the details of which were still a secret. He didn’t know where they would go or for how long.

But, reminding her to write and send letters on time was a must.

By the time Chiang Xiao and the others returned to Peace Town, it was already the end of August.

School had already begun enrollment and was collecting tuition fees.

Fortunately, she hadn’t spent all her school fees; otherwise, if she had gone to the provincial city and had to borrow money for tuition fees after returning, Chiang Xiao would have been utterly depressed.

”Little, have you really already made arrangements for packaging and selling the snacks?” Ge Xiaotong saw Chiang Xiao sling her bag over her shoulder, ready to pay the school fees, and hurriedly pulled her aside to ask again.

Chiang Xiao nodded.

”Yeah.”

Having not seen her for a month and a half, Ge Xiaotong’s belly had swollen up like she was inflated.

Chiang Xiao felt tired just watching her walk.

”I’ll buy some from you occasionally!” Ge Xiaotong said, ”I won’t eat for free! Those snacks are so expensive, I’d feel heavy with guilt eating even one piece for nothing!”

Pfft.

Chiang Xiao couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

Sometimes, Ge Xiaotong was quite adorable.

”Alright, alright, I’ll give you a discount then,” she went along with Ge Xiaotong’s words and said. ”Auntie, I’m going to pay the school fees now and pick up the textbooks while I’m at it.”

They all got their textbooks on the same day they paid the tuition fees.

Even though Chiang Xiao didn’t have much to look forward to for her junior high third-year life, she still had to enroll and attend.

Otherwise, if she just stayed at home to do business and paint all the time, her family would probably worry.
