Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 627: Chapter 628: Come and Catch Her

So now they were staying at Ruxi Hotel, which had saved them some money on room rates.

However, when Chiang Xiao and her family returned, they were stopped by two Public Security Officers.

Chiang Songhai and Ge Liutao’s hearts leaped as soon as they saw the officers; as honest people, they simply couldn’t withstand such fright.

Uncle Lee had been busy that day and was not around; he had gone out with his daughter and son-in-law to personally invite some VIP to the ribbon-cutting ceremony of a business opening the next day.

Chiang Xiao remained calm after being stopped and asked, ”Uncle, what can I do for you?”

The two officers were sweating profusely and seemed irritable.

In the heat of the day, after making a trip to Furong Hotel and finding out that this family of three had already left, they had searched for a long time before hearing they had moved to this yet-to-open hotel. They had rushed over here again, both hot and thirsty.

”Of course, we have business. I ask you, is your surname Chiang?”

”Yes.”

”Then there’s no mistake, we’re looking for you. Come with us.”

As he said this, he reached out to grasp Chiang Xiao’s shoulder.

Chiang Xiao suppressed the impulse to fight back.

These were Public Security Officers, she couldn’t just strike out at them.

However, the man’s grip was very strong, showing no mercy as he caught her shoulder and grabbed her wrist, about to twist her arm behind her back.

Chiang Songhai and Ge Liutao were terrified and rushed over without a second thought to protect Chiang Xiao.

”Young man, young man, let’s talk this through! This is my granddaughter. She’s just a young girl, she hasn’t done anything wrong. Why are you arresting her?”

”Let Little go, let her go,” Ge Liutao’s eyes also reddened.

”What’s wrong with you two? Planning to obstruct our work? If you want to know what she did, come with us and you’ll find out!”

”That’s it, Old Wang, just take her away now. It won’t look good if more spectators gather,” said another Thin Tall Guy, as he pushed Chiang Songhai aside and glared at Ge Liutao, ”Behave yourself!”

”Tell me clearly! What have I done?” Chiang Xiao struggled forcefully.

”You’re pretty strong for a girl! You look quite fierce! Do you mean to tell me you don’t know what you did? You assaulted someone, understand? Remember now? And you even injured them! They’ve filed a complaint!”

Old Wang shouted sternly, gripping Chiang Xiao’s shoulder tightly, causing her intense pain.

Chiang Xiao suddenly understood.

Wu Zhiyuan.

The only person she had struck since coming to the city was Wu Zhiyuan.

But did she injure him with that strike? Besides, there was no sign from Wu Zhiyuan the night of the incident nor the day after; instead, he chose to file a complaint today?

Chiang Xiao couldn’t focus on the pain in her shoulder, her mind racing.

Chiang Songhai also thought of Wu Zhiyuan and was suddenly at a loss.

Indeed, Chiang Xiao had hit Wu Zhiyuan that night. How could they explain this?

”Our Little didn’t hit, didn’t hit anyone!” Ge Liutao truly couldn’t bear to see the sight of Chiang Xiao being twisted like this. Her heart was pounding painfully, and with tears, she said, ”It was me who hit him. Arrest me instead, young man, arrest me.”

”Grandma...” Chiang Xiao’s voice trembled, and at the same time, she remembered to resent Wu Zhiyuan.

Very well, she had thought of letting him off that night, and yet he decided to bring this upon himself!

”Enough of this noise! If you keep arguing, I’ll arrest you all!”

Old Wang pressed down hard on Chiang Xiao’s shoulder and said to the Thin Tall Guy, ”Old Huang, take them all in! That’ll shut them up!”
