Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 579: Chapter 580 She Knows This Person

”Brother Xinian, can you not make trouble?”

”I’m serious, don’t sell the painting to anyone else. Consider it already reserved by me,” someone said very dominantly.

Kuang Yunxian also looked somewhat helpless, ”Honestly, I really like that painting too.”

He had thought about fairly participating in the bidding when the time came, confident that he had a good chance of securing it, but here Meng Xinian was, outright asking for it to be reserved for him.

”Little Little will have other paintings in the future. How about this? I’ll give you priority for the next piece,” Meng Xinian raised an eyebrow and said, ”What do you think? Will you buy it?”

Chiang Xiao was speechless.

Not only did he want to claim her current painting, but he was also trying to sell her ”next one”?

But she hadn’t even painted her next piece yet, and he was asking someone else to buy it?

Paintings were also about finding the right connection.

She couldn’t help but kick his foot under the table.

Meng Xinian’s expression didn’t show a hint of disturbance, remaining calm and composed. He even said to her, ”Brother Yun Xian is very wealthy, you don’t need to save money on his behalf. Besides, he knows the value of your work very well.”

Kuang Yunxian couldn’t help but grin at his words.

”I’ve never seen Xinian talk back to me like this. Okay, okay, let’s do it this way, Xiao Chiang, just paint another landscape for me. Whenever is fine, I’m not in a rush,” he said.

Chiang Xiao felt a little embarrassed and said, ”Actually, I have a few other paintings at home. I’ll give one to Brother Kuang when the time comes.”

Hearing this, Meng Xinian felt depressed again.

As her fiancé, he had spent five thousand yuan to buy one of her paintings, whereas Kuang Yunxian, an outsider with no special relationship to her, was offered one for free?

He was having trouble making sense of that equation.

In the evening, Chiang Xiao was treating them to dinner, and Kuang Yunxian asked if Chairman Zheng could be invited. Chiang Xiao glanced at Meng Xinian, and seeing him nod, she said to Kuang Yunxian, ”Then please ask Chairman Zheng on my behalf, Brother Kuang.”

Of course, she knew that Kuang Yunxian wanted her to get to know Chairman Zheng a bit more, and if he was making this suggestion, it must be because he still trusted Chairman Zheng’s character.

They went to the restaurant first, and then Kuang Yunxian went back to the university to make a call to Chairman Zheng. They arrived at the restaurant one after the other, more than half an hour later.

Seeing Chairman Zheng, Chiang Xiao’s heart skipped a beat.

So he was the chairman of the G Province Painters Association!

She knew him!

No, to be more precise, her past self had seen him. Not long before she died tragically from a fall, she had just read a newspaper report about Chairman Zheng’s death from illness.

What made a deep impression on her was that the night Chairman Zheng passed away due to illness, his wife committed suicide in his studio to follow him in death.

The comments at the time were polarized.

Some people said such love was rare in the world today, admiring their relationship and praising Madam Zheng for her devotion.

Others speculated that Madam Zheng’s suicide had other reasons, reasons which cast Chairman Zheng’s character in a very poor light.

They said that Chairman Zheng’s show of respect and affection towards his wife over the years was all an act, as he had been in a secret affair with a young female painter from the Painters Association for years.

The young female painter willingly became his hidden lover for ten years. But after Chairman Zheng’s death, the woman came forward with his will, disputing the inheritance with Madam Zheng.

Madam Zheng couldn’t accept this reality and was unable to withstand the blow, leading to her suicide.

After Madam Zheng’s suicide, their only daughter was crushed to death by a truck three days after taking care of their posthumous matters.
