Supreme Warrior in the City

Su Yang gratefully glanced at Jinghong Saint King, and had to admit that this Jinghong Saint King was indeed highly protective.

This Brother Yun was likely the envoy sent by the Saint Emperor, essentially an ally among the Saint Kings.

In such circumstances, for Jinghong Saint King to still speak for Su Yang was no simple matter.

Brother Yun was visibly angry and said in a low voice, ”Brother Jinghong, you should know the true nature of the relationship between our Demon Beast Clan and the Guardian God. If this issue escalates, it could lead to a war between the two clans. At that time, can you bear the responsibility?”

”Brother Yun, what is more important, the responsibility of war or the status of the Demon Beast Clan?” Jinghong Saint King softly responded, ”We have continuously compromised with the Guardian God. They’ve taken our peripheral demon beasts, penned them as livestock, and we’ve stood by indifferently. They’ve entered our territory, seized the Sub-Saint Beasts, and we’ve remained silent. Now, they’re even starting to kill our Holy Beasts, utterly insulting our Demon Beast Clan. If we continue to endure this, will our Demon Beast Clan still have its dignity in the future?”

”This time, they slaughtered Holy Beasts. What about next time? A Saint Venerable, a Saint King? Can we truly preserve ourselves amid this? But even if we can preserve ourselves, what’s the point? As kings, we must seek justice for our people. I don’t think Jiushi has done anything wrong nor do I think Mammoth’s orders were misguided. If the Guardian God does not provide a satisfactory response, then my subordinates will not retreat!”

Jinghong Saint King slammed his hand on the table as he finished speaking and stood up with a powerful presence, leaving Brother Yun dumbstruck.

Brother Yun remained silent for a moment before quietly saying, ”Brother Jinghong, I know you care deeply for your subordinates. However, this issue is the will of the Saint Emperor!”

”The Saint Emperor tasked us with watching over the Beast Tamers, and we’ve done so. He asked us to endure, and we’ve agreed. But surely, we can’t even voice a single complaint upon our death?” Jinghong Saint King softly said, ”Brother Yun, please relay this to the Saint King. This time, Jinghong is determined to be stubborn. Should there be any consequences, Jinghong is willing to bear them alone without affecting the Dynasty in the slightest!”

”Brother Jinghong…” Brother Yun couldn’t help but worry.

”Someone, escort the guest out!” Jinghong Saint King waved a hand and withdrew swiftly to the hall beyond.

Brother Yun stood outside, sighed with longing, and reluctantly turned to leave the palace.

As he exited, he paused to glance at Su Yang once more, sighed again, and left regretfully.

Su Yang and Mammoth Saint Venerable stood in the grand hall, clearly touched by the unexpected support from Jinghong Saint King.

For the matter to escalate this far, with Jinghong Saint King even defying the orders of the Saint Emperor to back them, was truly unforeseen.

Su Yang and Mammoth Saint Venerable remained silent for a while before Mammoth Saint Venerable softly asked, ”Brother Jiushi, what should we do now?”

Su Yang shook his head, since Jinghong Saint King had abruptly departed, he was also unsure of the path forward.

After a while, a voice emerged from the inner hall: ”Jiushi, come in. Mammoth, you return; the orders stand, but your chase is limited to areas near your territory, do not cross boundaries, understand?”

”Yes!” Mammoth Saint Venerable promptly replied, bowed and exited the palace.

Su Yang took a deep breath and slowly entered the inner hall.

Jinghong Saint King was seated inside and upon seeing Su Yang entering, he spoke softly, ”Jiushi, this time you acted impulsively!”

It was clear that Jinghong Saint King was somewhat dissatisfied with Su Yang’s actions. However, in front of Brother Yun, he chose to defend his subordinates; an individual truly protective.

”It’s just that those Beast Tamers pushed us too far, I couldn’t hold back anymore!” Su Yang bowed and said, ”Please, Saint King, punish me!”

”No punishment is necessary, I only want to discuss the implications with you!” Jinghong Saint King replied, ”The Demon Beast Clan and the Guardian God have always had territorial disputes. Just like the previous White Jade Realm, which is part of our Demon Beast Clan’s domain where the Guardian God should not interfere. Conversely, the realm outside your territory belongs to the Guardian God, which we should not interfere with. Though their words were indeed excessive, your act of capturing those Beast Tamers and even killing some has gone too far.”

”If this issue escalates, it becomes a matter between the Demon Beast Clan and the Guardian God. In reality, our Demon Beast Clan’s power is not weaker than the Guardian Gods’. But the problem is, our Demon Beast Clan is fragmented with dynasties standing apart, creating too many factions. Different dynasties even harbor antagonism towards each other, much like the differences among our various Saint Venerables. Under these circumstances, the Demon Beast Clan is far from united. Despite our great strength, we still cannot compare to the Guardian Gods.”

”With the matter escalating to this level, it’s now a matter for our Dynasty alone. This means if this issue grows, our Dynasty will stand alone against the Guardian God. Jiushi, do you understand that a single Dynasty going against the Guardian God spells what outcome?”

Su Yang shook his head, as the things Jinghong Saint King discussed were enough to shake him deeply. He didn’t know that the Demon Beast Clan was internally divided into so many dynasties.

”Simply put, should the Guardian God desire it, they can easily wipe out our entire Dynasty!” Jinghong Saint King declared.

”What?” Su Yang’s eyes widened, ”But… doesn’t the Saint Emperor still exist?”

”The Guardian God is not just one individual, they are a collective, a vast number!” Jinghong Saint King explained, ”The weakest among them is of the Saint Emperor’s level, do you understand?”

”Then… what about the strongest?” Su Yang anxiously asked.

”They are singular in the Ten Thousand Worlds, beyond imagination!” Jinghong Saint King responded.

”Singular in the Ten Thousand Worlds!?” Su Yang’s eyes were wide; what did this mean?

Jinghong Saint King didn’t offer further explanation, merely remarking softly, ”If the Demon Beast Clan could unite and collectively oppose the Guardian God, we would not fear them. However, the Demon Beast Clan remains disunited. At such a time, one Dynasty facing the Guardian God should make you aware of the pressure on the Saint Emperor, correct? Why does the Saint Emperor send envoys to resolve this matter, and why did the Saint Emperor choose compromise in the previous incident? Do you think the Saint Emperor truly knows nothing? The frustration in the Saint Emperor’s heart is greater than yours, yet he has no choice. He must bear the responsibility for the entire Dynasty, not just the life and death of individual demon beasts. For an entire Dynasty, how many demon beasts’ lives are there, does he truly have a choice?”
