Supreme Warrior in the City

The great battle has yet to commence, and already tumult abounds within the Six Trigrams Saint Venerable’s territory.

Not only is there severe internal strife in Liu Yao City, but even other regions are alike. Some Holy Beasts have openly declared their intention to leave Su Yang and defect to other Saint Venerables.

For a moment, Su Yang seemed deserted by both allies and followers. Seventy percent of his Holy Beasts had switched allegiance to other Saint Venerables. Furthermore, a large number of his Demon Beasts had fled; scarcely any remained.

Before the battle even starts, the reputation of the Unihorn Saint Venerable nearly overwhelmed Su Yang.

All Demon Beasts awaited this battle, anticipating the moment Su Yang would be slain by the Unihorn Saint Venerable.

In the eyes of all Demon Beasts, this battle had no suspense.

After all, when Su Yang killed the Six Trigrams Saint Venerable, his exhibited strength was merely at the Initial Stage of Saint Venerable. Whereas the Unihorn Saint Venerable was at the Saint Venerable Top Level, and this disparity in level could not be bridged by mere Ancient Demon Beast inheritances.

In fact, Su Yang’s decision to keep a low profile during this period was correct. No Demon Beast could have imagined that he would advance to the Intermediate Saint Venerable stage in such a short time.

Had this been known, it was estimated the Demon Beasts in Su Yang’s territory wouldn’t have been so chaotic; at least half might have stayed. But that wouldn’t have suited the outcome Su Yang desired. He wanted to take advantage of this opportunity to thoroughly purge the forces left by the Six Trigrams Saint Venerable to make sure that most of the Demon Beasts on his side were his trusted confidants.

Half a month later, a response came from the Unihorn Saint Venerable, announcing that in three months, there would be a battle of life and death with Su Yang.

The word spread, shocking all Demon Beasts anew, for in the Unihorn Saint Venerable’s reply was the term ”battle of life and death,” indicating that this was no mere competition, but a fight to the death.

For these Demon Beasts, the ”battle to the death” was plain: it meant the Unihorn Saint Venerable intended to kill Su Yang. After all, no one believed a Saint Venerable at the Initial Stage like Su Yang could be a match for the Unihorn Saint Venerable.

With this news, a portion of the remaining Demon Beasts under Su Yang also fled. At present, the number of Holy Beasts left under Su Yang could be counted on one hand. Moreover, some of those remaining were cultivated by the Nine Realms, not originating from the Endless Starry Sky. In other words, Su Yang was nearly a solitary figure.

The news of the great battle spread far and wide, and all Demon Beasts unanimously believed that Su Yang faced an uphill battle. They believed the battle was certain death for Su Yang, with the question only being: how long could he withstand the Unihorn Saint Venerable’s assault?

Three months passed in a flash, and on the day of the showdown, Su Yang took out his Round Disc and went alone to the battlefield.

Upon arrival, there were already over a dozen Saint Venerables waiting here. These Saint Venerables had come to witness the battle, as such battles were extremely rare.

During Su Yang’s previous battle with the Six Trigrams Saint Venerable, it happened unexpectedly, leaving Saint Venerables no time to arrive and observe. This time, it had been publicized in advance, and the nearby Saint Venerables had nearly all come, primarily to witness the Unihorn Saint Venerable’s strength!

As Su Yang reached the venue, all Saint Venerables turned their gaze toward him. Clearly, their eyes carried a distinct contempt.

In their view, Su Yang had no hope whatsoever in this battle, and him showing up here was tantamount to coming to die. This behavior was indeed a foolish act.

Su Yang paid no attention to the gazes of these Saint Venerables, standing silently in the Void, awaiting the arrival of the Unihorn Saint Venerable.

After waiting for about half a day, the Unihorn Saint Venerable finally arrived, slowly and deliberately. Accompanying him were three Saint Venerables who were his close associates.

As the Unihorn Saint Venerable arrived, the on-site Saint Venerables immediately approached, exchanging pleasantries and adulation. These Saint Venerables were extremely hypocritical; many harbored great resentment against the Unihorn Saint Venerable, yet outwardly remained supremely respectful.

There was no help for it; the Unihorn Saint Venerable was undeniably strong!

With the Unihorn Saint Venerable as the focal point, he greeted each of the Saint Venerables individually, engaging in courtesies for half a day as though Su Yang did not exist.

Standing alone in the Void, Su Yang closed his eyes, maintained calm, indifferent to the external clamor.

After the pleasantries ceased, the Unihorn Saint Venerable finally seemed to acknowledge Su Yang’s presence here.

”This one here is the newly ascended Saint Venerable Jiushi, I suppose?” The Unihorn Saint Venerable declared loudly. ”I thought you might not dare to come, but here you are. Regardless of today’s battle result, your courage is commendable!”

Su Yang glared coldly at the Unihorn Saint Venerable. ”Why say so much useless nonsense? Are you hoping I’ll show mercy later? You said you’d end my wretched life, and I certainly won’t hold back. Hurry up and come and die!”

The surrounding Saint Venerables were taken aback, stunned. Where did this newly ascended Saint Venerable Jiushi get the courage to speak so arrogantly? Under such circumstances, daring to utter such words, was he not afraid of dying slowly?

The Unihorn Saint Venerable was also extremely furious, quickly furrowing his brows.

At this moment, a Saint Venerable beside the Unihorn Saint Venerable spat insults: ”You little brat, what do you think you are to dare speak to Brother Unihorn this way? Killing garbage like you doesn’t require Brother Unihorn’s intervention. Brother Unihorn, you sit back and watch; I will kill this arrogant little beast for you!”

”Whatever!” Su Yang scoffed. ”Since the Unihorn Saint Venerable brought so many helpers, you all can join in; it doesn’t concern me!”

The Unihorn Saint Venerable’s expression chilled. Su Yang’s words made it clear that he accused him of using many to bully the few. The Unihorn Saint Venerable didn’t regard Su Yang at all, and with so many Saint Venerables watching, he naturally cared more about his honor.

”I appreciate my brother’s kind offer, but as I said before, today’s battle is a life-and-death struggle between me and the Saint Venerable Jiushi; no one should interfere!” The Unihorn Saint Venerable stated coldly, ”I ask you all to act as witnesses, and help guard the surroundings, ensuring no disturbances to the battle!”

The surrounding Saint Venerables loudly praised, and the three associates of the Unihorn Saint Venerable even cheered. In their view, with Su Yang facing the Unihorn Saint Venerable mano a mano, he was bound to perish, leaving no worries for them.

The Unihorn Saint Venerable flew before Su Yang, speaking coldly, ”Saint Venerable Jiushi, considering you are of the younger generation, let me give you a word of advice...”
