Supreme Warrior in the City

Su Yang still couldn’t quite understand why Little Bear would choose Ye Wantong as this successor?

Although it was unclear when the Female Sword Saint was killed in battle, without a doubt, it must have been a long time ago.

Why hadn’t a successor been found for such a long time until now, and only then was Ye Wantong chosen?

Su Yang was filled with doubts, but he didn’t know whom to ask. Ye Wantong was still in the water and hadn’t come out yet, and as for the giant bear, it was lying on the ground crying like a grizzly bear, so Su Yang couldn’t ask it either.

After a long while, Ye Wantong finally calmed her emotions. She gripped the longsword tightly and pulled it straight out of the water.

It was only at this moment that Su Yang could see clearly. This longsword was actually just half of it, the same half that had previously flown away with the giant bear.

The other half, as Su Yang clearly saw earlier, had been swallowed by the Endless Blood Sea and remained within it.

Holding the longsword, Ye Wantong caused the Sword Qi in the cave to reach its peak at this moment.

Su Yang didn’t feel it very distinctly, but Ye Wantong felt it very clearly.

The Sword Qi didn’t harm people, or rather, it was an indestructible sword intent.

The sword intent was profound and unfathomable, not something ordinary people could comprehend.

As Ye Wantong held the broken sword, this sword intent continually flowed into her body, merging with her.

This is the inheritance of sword intent. Ye Wantong was effectively inheriting the legacy of the Female Sword Saint, including the sword intent left by her.

From now on, Ye Wantong would follow the path of the Female Sword Saint. As long as she cultivated diligently, in time, she might even restore the state of the Female Sword Saint at her peak.

Su Yang was also excited. The benefits Ye Wantong gained this time were even stronger than those the Beigong War God and others obtained.

Not only did she acquire the Divine Sword, but more importantly, she received the sword intent inheritance.

The Beigong War God and the others only obtained the Divine Artifact, with no inheritance, having to figure everything out themselves.

Ye Wantong was different. She not only had the Divine Artifact, but also a clear path of cultivation, without needing to figure it out on her own.

Su Yang hadn’t expected Ye Wantong to have such a fortunate encounter. However, it was indeed a good thing.

Looking at the power of the Female Sword Saint, she was someone who could stand against the Heavenly Sect.

Even if Ye Wantong couldn’t reach the height of the Female Sword Saint, achieving something like the Saint Realm would still be incredibly easy!

Calculating it this way, at least one person in the Human World could be confirmed to reach the Saint Realm!

Ye Wantong walked out of the pool with the broken sword, tears welling up in her eyes. She was now feeling exactly what the Female Sword Saint felt. For some unknown reason, there was no fear in her heart, just pain, grief, and an indescribable emotion, driving her to tears.

Ye Wantong recalled the moment when the Female Sword Saint struck with all her might, acting so resolutely without the slightest hesitation, as if she had long prepared to fight to the death. After that sword strike, the Female Sword Saint seemed to feel relieved, as if she had long planned to die. Why was that?

Ye Wantong had nowhere to seek answers to these questions. Judging from the situation back then, even the Eternal Divine Emperor beside her probably didn’t know what was going on. To understand the situation, perhaps only the Female Sword Saint herself could give a clear answer.

But that was certainly impossible. The Female Sword Saint had already completely perished. Although the overwhelming Sword Qi remained, it was merely a legacy of power, not a legacy of spirit!

Ye Wantong sighed and looked at the giant bear at the entrance of the cave, also feeling a wave of emotion.

For so many years, this giant bear had kept watch over the broken sword in the valley, truly showing utmost loyalty to the Female Sword Saint.

Approaching the giant bear, Ye Wantong bowed down: ”I have received the Female Sword Saint’s inheritance, and you may come with me. Someday, I’ll certainly avenge the Female Sword Saint!”

The giant bear looked at Ye Wantong, then at the empty pool, feeling a sense of liberation at that moment. It let out a soft cry, staggered, and collapsed directly to the ground.

At that moment, changes began to happen to its body. A huge crack appeared on its back, with a lot of black energy constantly devouring its body.

Su Yang was shocked, suddenly recalling the earlier events. When the giant bear was dragged away by the broken sword, it was also severely wounded by the stele, and the injured place was precisely its back then.

Without a doubt, this wound was left by the stele back then.

Over the years, the giant bear couldn’t heal this wound. Instead, it had stayed here, unable to go out and seek treatment, making the wound worse.

Now, most of the giant bear’s body had been consumed by this black energy. Its previous strength was all a facade, as it was already at the end of its rope.

Possibly because the Female Sword Saint’s inheritance hadn’t been taken, it had stubbornly held on all this time.

But now, with the Female Sword Saint’s inheritance finally taken, it could finally let go.

Collapsed on the ground, it let out a few silent moans, its eyes fixed on the broken sword in Ye Wantong’s hand, as if it was full of longing.

”Not good!” Su Yang exclaimed: ”Its life force is disappearing quickly, it… it’s not going to hold on much longer…”

Ye Wantong’s face changed suddenly. She quickly rushed to the giant bear’s side, channeling her power into its body, but still couldn’t change anything.

Su Yang took out some Spirit Liquid Essence and poured it into the giant bear’s mouth, but the result was the same. The giant bear’s condition didn’t improve; instead, a yellow glow emanated from its body, constantly flowing into the nearby Little Bear.

Little Bear seemed to understand something, roaring and barking, desperately trying to make the giant bear stop. However, it was trapped within the yellow glow, unable to approach the giant bear, unable to break free, unable to stop it, only watching as the light from the giant bear kept entering its body.

”It wants to transfer all its remaining life force to Little Bear…” Su Yang said, astounded.

”Then… doesn’t that mean it’s definitely going to die?” Ye Wantong exclaimed.

Su Yang nodded helplessly. Doing this was no different from committing suicide!

”Can we stop it?” Ye Wantong asked anxiously.

Su Yang sighed. The giant bear’s power was more terrifying than that of a Divine Beast; it wasn’t something he could stop.

Plus, with the giant bear intent on dying, there was no stopping it.

Perhaps with the Female Sword Saint’s inheritance taken, there was nothing in this world worth lingering for, so it didn’t intend to live any longer. That’s why it transferred its life force into Little Bear, preparing to rest forever here alongside the Female Sword Saint!
