Supreme Warrior in the City

The dean and Su Yang exchanged a glance. The dean might not understand fully, but Su Yang was very clear.

The Heavenly Destiny Treasure Book records that in the Buddhist sect, the way is singular, but the paths are countless.

Mahakaya’s path of the Buddha Venerable is the supreme method of the Buddhist sect, the very path the Buddha took to achieve enlightenment, being the most orthodox route in Buddhism.

However, Mahakaya’s essence has been worn down. To restore this path of the Buddha Venerable could take an unknown number of years.

Yet, if he abandons the path of the Buddha Venerable and switches to the Arhat Path, the essence of the Buddha Venerable could transform into the Arhat Golden Body.

The Arhat path, in the Buddhist sect, is considered an inferior method of cultivation, far less than the path of the Buddha Venerable.

Cultivating the Arhat path leaves no option to cultivate other paths.

However, walking the path of the Buddha Venerable allows one to refine oneself along other paths.

Now, for Mahakaya to switch to the Arhat path, he must abandon the path of the Buddha Venerable and dedicate himself solely to this one path.

While this could allow Mahakaya to quickly regain his former strength, it also cuts off his potential for further ascension, never able to tread the path of the Buddha Venerable again.

This sacrifice is significant. No one would choose this unless it were absolutely necessary!

Su Yang frowned, looking at Second Young Master Zhang: ”Second Young Master, are you sure that Master Jie Ye wants to walk the Arhat Path?”

Second Young Master Zhang slowly nodded.

Su Yang’s expression changed slightly, and he said in a deep voice: ”Although Master Jie Ye’s power essence is damaged, he has come so far on the path of the Buddha Venerable. With time, he can still recover his strength.”

”But to walk the Arhat Path is to abandon the wide and open avenue of the path of the Buddha Venerable for a narrow, muddy road. Future achievements may halt here, unable to advance any further. Has Master Jie Ye really thought this through?”

”My uncle has considered it very carefully...” Second Young Master Zhang paused and said softly, ”My father has agreed too!”

Su Yang said nothing more, knowing that Second Young Master Zhang’s words had already conveyed a message.

The Martial Champion also agreed, which means the Martial Champion is well aware of the situation. He has likely personally tried to persuade Mahakaya.

Yet, Mahakaya still insisted, which is why Second Young Master Zhang came to Su Yang.

If even the Martial Champion couldn’t persuade Mahakaya, anything Su Yang might say would also be pointless.

”Is there anything I can do?” Su Yang asked.

”My uncle wishes to borrow the Calamity Scripture for a look!” Second Young Master Zhang said.

”The Calamity Scripture?” Su Yang immediately understood Mahakaya’s intent, that he needed the Calamity Scripture to assist his transition to the Arhat Path.

However, the Calamity Scripture has been lost in the Human World, and not even the Buddha Palace has it.

The only place with the Calamity Scripture is the Heavenly Destiny Treasure Book, which contains the full text of the scripture.

Su Yang immediately returned to the World Melting Furnace, personally handwrote a copy of the Calamity Scripture, and handed it to Second Young Master Zhang.

At the same time, Su Yang also took out some Elixir Pills and gave them to Second Young Master Zhang.

Unable to stop Mahakaya from doing this, Su Yang could only provide more Elixir Pills to aid him.

These Elixir Pills could allow Mahakaya’s Buddha Venerable essence to further transform into Arhat essence.

Second Young Master Zhang took these items, thanked Su Yang, and left directly.

Su Yang watched Second Young Master Zhang leave and couldn’t help but sigh gently.

Mahakaya, this is cutting off his own future. Perhaps he can recover his past strength or become even stronger.

But from now on, Mahakaya will likely be stuck here, unable to progress any further.

...

In the Zhang Family courtyard, Mahakaya received the Calamity Scripture and Elixir Pills sent by Second Young Master Zhang and went straight to a thatched hut in the backyard.

The Martial Champion still stood on that platform. Seeing Mahakaya enter, he sighed lightly: ”Junior Brother, have you decided? Once you’ve transformed the essence, you can never go back, and future progress will be almost impossible!”

”The Buddha said, if I do not descend into hell, who will?”

Mahakaya smiled faintly: ”The Feather Spirit Palace is about to open, and calamity looms over the Nine Realms. Who can remain unscathed? Even if I survive this time, how long can I live when the Nine Realms calamity falls in the future? Why not have one grand battle? Even if I die in battle, it is better than living in hiding waiting for death!”

”Even though the Feather Spirit Palace is opening, the Nine Realms may not necessarily be in great disaster,” the Martial Champion said softly. ”You’re overthinking. The person inside the Feather Spirit Palace may not necessarily awaken.”

”In our line of work, we always hope for the best and prepare for the worst,” Mahakaya chuckled. ”The Three Death Zones, any one is insurmountable by the Nine Realms. The revival of any one would doom the Nine Realms. In our unknown situation, exploring the Three Death Zones is what we truly ought to do!”

”The Eight Realms have already sent people to explore. Why must you involve yourself?” the Martial Champion sighed lightly.

Mahakaya: ”Precisely because the Eight Realms have sent people that I must enter. Su Yang is still too young. How can he understand the danger of people from the Eight Realms?”

The Martial Champion sighed again but remained silent, knowing the dangers of these people from the Eight Realms even better than Mahakaya.

But what does it matter?

The Martial Champion’s battlefield has never been within the Nine Realms but beyond them. These matters are, fundamentally, unrelated to him.

Sending Second Young Master Zhang into the Feather Spirit Palace is already the greatest support the Martial Champion could offer.

Given his past character, he would never involve himself in these affairs.

Mahakaya went to the back, took out the handwritten Calamity Scripture from Su Yang, carefully read it, and then slowly closed his eyes.

Like a meditating old monk, Mahakaya sat quietly, motionless, without a sound for a long time.

After an unknown period, a beam of golden light suddenly appeared behind Mahakaya.

The golden light gradually expanded until it formed the shape of a Buddha, sitting cross-legged in the air behind Mahakaya.

However, this golden light, once transformed into a Buddha, dimmed considerably.

Mahakaya’s essence had been worn away too much, leaving little of the golden light. The brilliance of this Buddha now fell far short of its original radiance.

Holding Buddha Beads and reciting the Calamity Scripture, the Buddha behind Mahakaya began to tremble slightly.

As Mahakaya’s voice grew louder, the Buddha trembled more violently.

Finally, unable to withstand the pressure, the Buddha suddenly shattered, transforming into countless rays of golden light that slowly merged into Mahakaya’s body.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Mahakaya swallowed all the Elixir Pills Su Yang had given him.

The golden light continued merging into Mahakaya’s body, making his own body appear as if it were being sheathed in gold.

After a long while, all the golden light fused into Mahakaya’s body, resulting in a tremendous transformation of his physical form.
