95: Chapter 95 Leonhardt’s MasterWho exactly is Leonhardt’s master?

Ever since Fu Hao accepted the ”Helm’s Boast” quest, this question has become one of the hottest topics of debate among players in the community.

Although Leonhardt frequently appears in places like the Training Tower, no player has yet been able to grasp the truth about which legendary figure he apprenticed under.

At one point, the Training Tower clear videos were considered the most compelling clue, but unfortunately, the floor Leonhardt cleared was a non-combat zone, making it difficult to determine his class affiliation based on that.

The only thing that can be confirmed currently is that among The Seven Legends, Helm and Calus can be ruled out.

Players are enthusiastically imagining which legendary disciple Leonhardt will appear as, while also eagerly anticipating the moment of his head-on confrontation with Fu Hao.

However, reality ruthlessly shattered all the players’ imaginations—Leonhardt hasn’t even been able to showcase his astonishing control abilities; he has been trapped in a research lab the whole time.

”Master.”

”No.”

”But I haven’t even...”

”I said no, and that means no.”

Loki interrupted Leonhardt’s words without hesitation.

This conversation had clearly played out countless times, as practiced as a pre-set script.

Leonhardt did not choose Helm; instead, he apprenticed under Loki, the legendary-grade artifact craftsman who had gone silent after the ”Legendary Assembly.”

Players generally believe that Helm is the hardest of The Seven Legends to apprentice under, and even Fu Hao holds this view. But in reality, the one who is truly the hardest to approach and the hardest to apprentice under is Loki.

Not only because he is elusive and mysterious, but also because even if one could find him, he has no intention of taking on apprentices.

To deal with the Human-Demon War that could break out at any moment, cultivating successors has long become the responsibility of those in power and top experts like The Seven Legends.

But not everyone agrees with this view.

Loki has always believed that rather than wasting time cultivating disciples, it is better to pour all energy into research to create more powerful artifacts to enhance humanity’s overall combat strength; this is the fundamental way to curb the Human-Demon War.

His thinking does not stem from paranoia or arrogance; in fact, many acknowledge: Loki’s time is far more precious when used for crafting artifacts than for teaching disciples.

From this perspective, Leonhardt was once considered unworthy of being his disciple.

But in reality, the reason Leonhardt was chosen by Loki was not because he had any outstanding talent in artifact crafting.

Although his control ability is the best in the entire server, it has nothing to do with artifact crafting.

The reason he was able to become an apprentice was entirely due to a hidden item he possessed.

Leonhardt is not only a figure who has never dropped from the number one spot in combat power, but he is also always obsessed with challenging the unknown and the impossible.

Precisely because of this, he has collected countless hidden items to date, including clues to ancient artifacts that Loki dreams of.

Loki has always been good at weighing pros and cons, and after weighing them, he decided to make an exception and take Leonhardt as an apprentice on the condition that he provide the ancient artifact clues.

Before becoming Loki’s disciple, Leonhardt was actually unable to determine if this was a wise move.

Although becoming a legendary disciple does not mean one cannot change classes, once a master-disciple bond is formed with The Seven Legends, who are known as the ”strongest in the world,” no one can say for sure if one can freely switch classes.

If he ended up with a class that didn’t fit him, then the dual-class right he had worked so hard to obtain would be wasted for nothing.

However, now that he has truly become Loki’s disciple, unlocked new class skills, and confirmed their potential with his own eyes, Leonhardt is incomparably certain: he made the most correct choice.

Because Loki is not only a legendary-grade artifact craftsman but also a legendary-grade grand mage.

Even if these two identities were split into two classes, they would already be impeccable top-tier existences, and Leonhardt is actually able to combine both and inherit everything from him.

What is even rarer is that these two class traits produce an excellent synergistic effect with the hidden class ”Weapon Master” that Leonhardt is desperate to keep.

The artifact crafting trait allows him to craft exclusive weapons with magical properties, while the magical trait grants him the ability to cast magic—this allows him to control magic-type weapons that were difficult to use in the past due to attribute mismatch, such as staves, further expanding the boundaries of ”Weapon Master.”

Conversely, the skills of ”Weapon Master” also have a positive impact on magic-attribute weapons and magic-type weapons.

The core skill of ”Weapon Master” is ”Weapon Mastery.”

Generally speaking, passive skills for mastery of all weapons are subdivided by type, but the ”Weapon Mastery” of ”Weapon Master” can integrate all types of mastery into one.

More importantly, as long as Leonhardt successfully equips them, whether it is siege weapons or magic-attribute weapons that are generally not counted in the equipment slots, they can all be included in the mastery effect.

It can be said that choosing Loki as a second class is tantamount to giving Leonhardt wings to fly.

He even began to rejoice—thankfully Fu Hao became Helm’s disciple first.

Because if Fu Hao hadn’t chosen Helm, he might not have risked turning to Loki, but would have chosen that safer option.

Although the truth about the legendary Paladin’s second awakening has not yet been revealed, even if its power far exceeds expectations, Leonhardt does not feel it is a pity.

However, not everything is going smoothly.

Since entering the Training Tower briefly under the pretext of ”quickly increasing initial skill levels,” Leonhardt has never stepped out of the research lab, only able to conduct day-after-day research and study under Loki’s guidance.

He hasn’t seen the sun for a long time.

Excluding the death penalty time within two years, Leonhardt has spent almost all his gaming time on thrilling battles.

For him, this life of being locked in a cold, dark underground research lab is simply torture.

Although his class skill proficiency is climbing at a terrifying speed under Loki’s personal guidance, and the conditions for the second awakening quest are about to be completed, Leonhardt feels little joy.

No, that’s not right, it’s not that there is no joy, but in comparison, the sense of loss from ”being unable to fight and adventure” is more intense.

Fu Hao is in hot pursuit, and while maintaining the number one ranking is important, and getting stronger quickly is not wrong, isn’t the essence of the game about fun?

Although he is often misunderstood because of being ranked number one, Leonhardt’s essence is always a ”pleasure-seeking” player who loves to challenge the unknown and is even willing to endure death penalties.

If someone asked him: ”Would you rather stay in the research lab every day to keep the number one spot, or fight every day even if you are ranked last?” He would definitely choose the latter without hesitation.

He even once hammered the floor in frustration, regretting that he should have escaped when Loki wasn’t paying attention when he first climbed the Training Tower.

If his master were someone who prioritized combat like Helm, he might have escaped at the risk of his life long ago.

Fu Hao was once unable to escape because he was forced to trigger Helm’s obsession quest, but that was because he developed an obsession with the Lepis Territory.

And although Leonhardt was also enfeoffed as a Baron of the Kalis Empire due to his combat power ranking, he has never managed a territory, so naturally, he would not be bound like Fu Hao.

But Loki is different.

He is both a legendary-grade artifact craftsman and a legendary-grade grand mage.

Once trapped by him, with Leonhardt’s own strength alone, there is no way to escape.

Magic barriers, return scrolls, self-destructing items, pretending to slack off...

He tried every possibility, but none succeeded.

”Do I really have to wait until the Legendary Assembly...”

Before Loki finishes deciphering all the ancient artifact clues he brought, he probably won’t leave the research lab—as long as Loki doesn’t leave, Leonhardt is destined to be unable to escape.

But there is not no chance of leaving.

—The Legendary Assembly.

As far as he and most players know, The Seven Legends have never missed the Legendary Assembly.

And this belief was soon verified by a system quest:

Difficulty: Immeasurable

The legendary-grade artifact craftsman has made the matter of taking on an apprentice public, and the Legendary Knight Helm’s disciple has immediately sent a challenge request.

Although Loki has never valued reputation, in order to confirm your understanding and mastery of his teachings, he has accepted this duel.

Quest Completion Conditions:

* Win in the duel against the Legendary Knight Helm’s disciple ”Fu Hao.”

Quest Reward:

* Loki will respect your opinion.

Quest Failure Penalty:

* Loki’s favorability drops to ”Friendly.”

Compared with the ”Helm’s Boast” quest received by Fu Hao, this ”Ability Experiment,” although named differently, is essentially the same.

At first, when he saw the ”Quest Reward,” Leonhardt was quite puzzled—not increasing favorability, but ”respecting opinions”? He has cleared so many rare quests, this is the first time he has encountered this type of reward.

Now, he understands:

The system had foreseen that he would be trapped in the research lab by Loki at the very beginning of the quest generation.

”How much longer do I have to endure...”

He is like a castaway on a deserted island, counting the days one by one.

Just at this moment, Loki suddenly walked over with a panicked expression:

”Leonhardt, research is paused.”

”Huh?”

He looked up blankly.

Loki added with a serious expression:

”The Demon King has descended into the human world.”

”Huh??”

Before he could recover from the shock, Loki handed him a peculiar instrument.

”This is...”

”Demon race detector. Judging from the signal strength, it is definitely Demon King level.”

As the words fell, Leonhardt finally realized the severity of the matter.

The Demon King has descended into the human world, and as one of The Seven Legends, Loki will definitely not sit idly by—he must go to deal with it personally.

”...Rowen Kingdom?”

Through the detector, Leonhardt confirmed the location of the Demon King’s appearance; it was none other than the capital of the Rowen Kingdom.

Recently, because he was bored, he had been sneaking into the official community to gather information in preparation for his escape.

And the current hot topic in the community is undoubtedly Fu Hao—to be precise, it is the direction of the Rowen Kingdom civil war surrounding Fu Hao, the Five Great Guilds, the Kalis Empire, and Prince Mian, and the core of it is undoubtedly Fu Hao.

”Follow me.”

Loki issued the command calmly.

Leonhardt hesitated for a moment.

Judging from the fact that the system did not pop up a mandatory quest prompt, this is not a mandatory quest.

If Loki really intended to keep him trapped, he would have ways to do so.

But there is something more important right now—a battle with the Demon King, how would he have the energy to keep an eye on a disciple?

”This is a chance!”

Break free from Loki’s shackles and regain freedom?

Or follow Loki on a journey to fight the Demon King?

Leonhardt’s choice had long been made in his heart:

”Okay, I’ll go with you, Master.”

A battle with the Demon King, such an interesting thing, how could he miss it?
