55: Chapter 55 The Universe’s First +10 ShieldThree weeks ago.

[Used Low-Grade Enhancement Tool to enhance ”Armadillo Shield (+5)”]

[Enhancement successful, enhancement level increased to +7]

[Due to the ”Low-Grade Enhancement Tool” effect, additional enhancement level +2]

”Eh? Success on the first try!”

Fu Hao had enhanced the ”Armadillo Shield,” a growth-type equipment newly obtained in the trial dungeon, just for fun, not expecting it to successfully reach +7 in one go. Fu Hao couldn’t help but exclaim: ”If only it had been this smooth earlier.”

Recalling the experience of repeatedly grinding the trial dungeon until the cooldown of ”Fates Luck” was exhausted just to get the troll sword to +7, he muttered to himself: ”This is actually a bit troublesome...”

The original plan was to wait for Calus, Rahim, and the equipment enhancement factory to collaborate to produce level 400 +7 equipment, then enhance them one by one to +10 to wear at level 240. The armor included five parts: helmet, top, bottom, gloves, and shoes. Adding the shield, there were six parts that needed to be enhanced.

The cooldown for ”Fates Luck” is one week. If used at critical moments, it would take about two months to get everything to +10. Fu Hao originally thought he had plenty of time, but he worried that clearing trial dungeons before level 240 would cause stat overflow due to equipment over-limit. Although he hadn’t confirmed the effects of +10 on each part, they were bound to be powerful, and missing out on the trial dungeon’s title rewards made him feel regretful.

”Sigh, whatever, I’ll leave it to fate.”

Looking at the newly acquired Armadillo Shield +7 and the Hematite Shield +7 he brought when leaving the territory, Fu Hao stopped struggling, took out the Low-Grade Enhancement Tool, pointed at the two pieces of equipment, and said word by word: ”Whichever I point to, that’s the one!”

- ”No way, you’re deciding based on this?!”

- ”He’s crazy, hahaha.”

The viewers immediately realized he was deciding which piece of equipment to enhance.

The audience was divided into two factions: one advocated enhancing the level 400 equipment first to pursue defense, and the other insisted on enhancing low-level equipment to farm trial titles.

[”Trial Maniac” donated 50 Yuan. — (Please pick Hematite!)]

- ”Trial Maniac is praying.”

- ”Choose Armadillo.”

- ”Trial Maniac’s speedrun title is in jeopardy.”

After Fu Hao shouted his slogan, the hammer pointed at the Hematite Shield.

[”Trial Maniac” donated 50 Yuan. — (Awesome!!!)]

[”Jin Hao” donated 50 Yuan. — (The universe’s first +10 enhanced shield, go for it!!!)]

Fu Hao did not hesitate and struck the Hematite Shield with the hammer.

But the result was the opposite of what the audience thought.

[Used Low-Grade Enhancement Tool to attempt to enhance ”Hematite Shield (+7)”]

[Enhancement failed, ”Hematite Shield (+7)” was destroyed.]

- ”???”

- ”Huh? What’s going on?”

”As expected, what’s not meant to succeed won’t succeed.”

Fu Hao gave up completely and decided to enhance the other piece of equipment until it was destroyed to cut off any lingering thoughts — actually, he had intended to sacrifice this piece of equipment all along.

”It seems all my luck was used up on drawing Jin Hao.”

Feeling that he had exhausted his luck, this time he used the ”Fates Luck” skill, then enhanced the Armadillo Shield.

[Used ”Fates Luck” skill, fixing the Low-Grade Enhancement Tool’s ”0.1% chance for additional enhancement level +3 on success” to 100%]

[Used Low-Grade Enhancement Tool to enhance ”Armadillo Shield (+7)”]

[Due to the ”Low-Grade Enhancement Tool” effect, additional enhancement level +3]

[Enhancement successful, enhancement level increased to +10]

”Retreat! Everyone retreat!”

To try a new tactic, Fu Hao ordered the Knight Order to retreat.

”Not chasing?”

”What’s going on?”

Strangely, the Minotaurs did not pursue, but stayed in place.

”These guys really are suspicious.”

Normal monsters should have excitedly pursued, but they stood in formation like humans, and he had never seen this type of monster before; there were many suspicious points.

”I feel like they are preventing us from approaching the ancient ruins.”

Could they be ruin guardian monsters? Regardless, they didn’t chase, so he didn’t need to use the teleportation gem to move back and forth needlessly, which made Fu Hao feel relieved.

”You all wait here.”

- ”What is he up to now, hahaha.”

After putting a distance of about 100 meters between himself and the Minotaurs, Fu Hao re-examined the attributes of the Armadillo Shield +10 in his equipment:

Grade: Hero (Growth-type, Bound)

Usage Condition: Clear ”Trial of the Sturdy Shield”

Growth Stage: Lv.1

Defense: 520 ~ 855 Durability: 394 / 425 Weight: 85

- Defense increases upon growth

- Special effects added at Growth Stage Lv.5, Lv.10, Lv.MAX respectively

- Shield Defense +20%

- Damage taken reduced by 20%

- Shield Defense +30%

- When blocking enemy attacks, stuns enemies in front for 1 second (Cooldown: 5 seconds)

- When blocking enemy attacks with the shield, damage taken is reduced by 50% and reflects 50% of the enemy’s attack damage (Cooldown: 10 seconds)

Description: A shield made from the back carapace of an armadillo-like monster. It has high defense and durability, but is very vulnerable to fire-attribute attacks.

- ”Holy crap!”

- ”Too strong!”

Although there were already discussions about this shield in the community and the audience had long known about it, seeing the shield’s attributes still made them exclaim in the chat window.

To roll all five stats into effective attributes, Fu Hao spent six hours just on enhancement effect conversion.

”Although it’s a pity... there’s no other way, the effects can be re-rolled.”

He hardened his heart and reset the five stats he had worked so hard to roll — the only one that could break the current predicament was ”When blocking enemy attacks, knock back enemies within 10 meters in front (Cooldown: 5 seconds).”

Fu Hao spent over six hours on enhancement effect conversion. During this time, he confirmed the types of options that appeared after the shield was enhanced to +10 and recorded the useful ones separately.

An hour later, the Knight Order and the orc tribe were still in a stalemate, and Fu Hao finally rolled the desired knockback stat.

”Phew, when you really need to grind for it, it just won’t appear. That’s science for you.”

- ”Hahahaha.”

- ”Knockback is a cheat stat, right? The probability is really low.”

- ”The Minotaurs haven’t clocked off yet?”

”It’s a bit of a pity that two of the five special effects are useless, but anyway, this shield is mainly used to make enemies retreat, so this is acceptable.”

Equipping the newly rolled Armadillo Shield, Fu Hao revealed an evil smile: ”Kept you waiting for a long time, right?”

After explaining the tactics to the Knight Order, he rushed to the front line. The knights no longer stood side-by-side with him but followed in a fan shape.

Five Minotaurs swung their axes and attacked simultaneously.

- ”Holy crap!”

- ”We’re dead.”

Seeing the Minotaurs wielding giant axes, the audience felt scared.

After reaching level 170, Fu Hao madly farmed trial dungeons to increase his stats, but facing monsters that even knights with level 300 early-mid stage stats struggled to fight, if he were directly attacked by five Minotaurs, the situation would be very dangerous.

But Fu Hao was not afraid at all.

When he used to team up with guild members, his favorite thing to do after a successful Block was to shout: ”See that? This is the God of Block!”

He wouldn’t dare say much else, but he considered his ”Shield Block” technique to be on par with Leonhardt — even though the latter didn’t use a shield at all.

He completely ignored the other Minotaurs attacking him and focused on the attack timing of the Minotaur in front of him.

”Right now!”

Fu Hao swung the shield at the right moment. Accompanied by a crisp blocking sound, the skill ”Super Knockback” of his +10 enhanced shield was activated.

[Successfully blocked enemy attack]

[Enemies within 10 meters knocked back 10 meters]

A blue shockwave exploded from the center of the shield, sending the Minotaurs flying. The knockback came with a 1-second stun, and Fu Hao and the Knight Order seized the opportunity to charge forward 10 meters.

[”Jin Hao” donated 50 Yuan. — (This is what you call wealth!)]

[”Suxi” donated 50 Yuan. — (This knockback range is too broken!)]

[”Manche” donated 50 Yuan. — (Undoubtedly the God of Knockback himself!)]

- ”Awesome!”

- ”Perfect blocking timing!”

”Focus your energy on blocking the enemies’ attacks!”

”Yes!”

Hearing Fu Hao’s order, the knights activated their defensive skills and gritted their teeth to hold on.

As soon as the 5-second cooldown ended, Fu Hao stepped forward again, blocking precisely!

[Successfully blocked enemy attack]

[Enemies within 10 meters knocked back 10 meters]

Another shockwave, another charge. It was about 500 meters to the presumed ruin entrance, so repeating this 50 times would get them there.

”These Minotaurs won’t follow us into the ruins, right?”

Watching the shockwaves constantly exploding, Fu Hao imagined the treasures inside the ruins: ”I hope it’s not just a pile of junk. Since it’s the ’Kingdom of Sword and Magic,’ at least there should be a lost ancient magic book or a magic sword.”

While fantasizing, four minutes flew by, and he had arrived at the entrance of the ruins.

[First discovery: ”Tomb of the Last Emperor of the Ender Empire”]

”The Emperor’s tomb?”

Looking at the prompt message, Fu Hao showed an expression of surprise.
