Beastmaster of the Ages

Tianming had yet to see any baleflame, but his face paled from not being able to endure the smell. Even if he punched his nose flat, the smell still permeated through his entire body and astral organs. Every inch of him began stinking.

Just as he reached his limit and was about to leave, he suddenly noticed a familiar sensation, as if his body was being nourished by the space. It felt like he was immersed in the Myriadpath Sourcespring! In fact, it felt like a few ten kegs of springwater at once, but more concentrated than usual! The feeling gave him a wild idea.

Could this be the source of Yin-Yang Baleflame?! If springwater had a source, then the same should apply to baleflame!

”Savior....” As Tianming began pondering, Eminent Jiguang’s face paled and she grabbed his hand. Her palm dripped with sweat as if she had seen something to scare the sweat out of her.

”What’s wrong?” Tianming turned to where she looked. The space that had been left dead and empty for so long finally began lighting up, seemingly alerted by their arrival. First, Tianming heard the soft sizzle of embers igniting. Then, all of a sudden, a tuft of baleflame burned before them. Then there were two, three, five, ten, hundreds, thousands... myriads! All that baleflame suddenly lit up the entire place.

Tianming and Eminent Jiguang could finally see the astral giant that sat cross-legged before them. He was as tall as a mountain, sitting in the center of the void with both palms pushed against each other. Every single astron that made up his body was black and white and glowed with breathtaking starlight. Seeing a sleeping giant like that was enough to startle even Tianming.

The myriad tufts of baleflame seemed to have spawned from his body. His heart, liver, spleen, lungs, kidneys, four limbs, head, facial features, and more burned with monochrome Yin-Yang Baleflame that continually duplicated and filled the space, making a sea of baleflame! There were easily more than two thousand kegs of baleflame there!

”A Source Progenitor?” Eminent Jiguang held her mouth with shock and uttered this name. However, she soon shook her head. ”It probably isn’t the Source Progenitor, but a being in a similar league.”

”What’s a source progenitor?” Tianming asked.

”The Source Progenitor. That’s the true nature of the Myriadpath Sourcespring. It’s said that she lies at the bottom of the well. I’ve never seen her body myself, but if I had to guess, she’d look very similar to what we’re seeing here....” Eminent Jiguang’s eyes were filled with terror and awe. She had come to rescue someone, only to stumble into a being like the Source Progenitor instead.

”Is this one still alive?” Tianming panicked and subconsciously wanted to protect her.

”It’s fine, calm down. The Source Progenitor has long since passed away and left her sacred divine body behind to bless her descendants. It should be the same with this ancient divine being as well.” Though she said that, she nervously clutched Tianming’s hand, fully aware of what the Source Progenitor represented to Myriadpath Valley.

Part of the reason for Myriadpath Valley’s tens of millions of years of history was thanks to the Source Progenitor’s blessings; how would things change if they were able to bring yet another being like that out from the Yin-Yang World? The moment the thought occurred to her, she immediately recalled how terrifying the storm around them was.

We probably won’t be able to take this out of here without the Grand Myriadpath Ruins. I’m here to save someone, and something like this is out of my control. I can’t let greed overtake me. She immediately calmed down. ”Savior, let’s not disturb this ancient being of the Yin-Yang World. We’ll look for my sister-in-law without making too much noise.”

Tianming had wanted to crawl onto the giant to see if he could pick off the baleflame tufts that were directly on his body. There’s at least ten thousand kegs of baleflame burning on him.... A single keg is enough for all the normal gods of the Sun to use, so what if I bring ten thousand kegs back to Infinitum? How much can I strengthen the average person?

He didn’t even dare to imagine it. More importantly, the astral giant was the source of the baleflame. If he could take the entire body away, he would truly have an inexhaustible source of baleflame. The Source Progenitor alone was able to keep Myriadpath Valley’s legacy going for tens of millions of years. The Myriadpath Sourcespring doesn’t run out. I wonder if this giant’s the same....

It took Tianming a while to put the pieces together. Oh, so he was the true target that the valley lord and House Yumo were fighting over! They’d assumed that the giant’s body would be within the Blissful Union, but it was actually out in the Yin-Yang World!

Even though Eminent Jiguang didn’t want anything to do with it, Tianming wanted to claim one of the core legacies of the Yin-Yang World. Once she finishes her rescue and leaves, I’ll stay back and ponder about how to obtain it. The space they were in seemed safe for now. And even if it wasn’t, the Blissful Union would soon be unlocked.

He began considering how he would leave the vortex. Blissful Union should be the name of that astralship. Looks like the people of the Yin-Yang World were an easygoing sort. Fortunately, this terrifying giant is just a corpse. If he were still alive, things would be troubling....

Tianming began looking around the area with Eminent Jiguang in search for Suishen Xiyue. How’d Yaoyao’s mom end up here alone anyway? Is she really here? At that moment, Eminent Jiguang suddenly grabbed his hand much more tightly than before.

She was even more scared then when she had first seen the giant. Her palm shook and she forgot to breathe, not making a single sound. Tianming saw that her entire body was trembling, and her face began to pale as she stared ahead in terror.

”What—” Tianming immediately felt a chill down his spine and his scalp tingle. A chill spread from Eminent Jiguang’s hand to his body, seemingly carrying the terror she felt along with it. He had only felt like this when he’d faced Huang Qi before!

He widened his eyes and struggled to turn back to look at the giant of black and white, only to notice that its eyes were open! One of the eyes was black and the other was white, but both were unfathomably deep. Purgatorial monochrome flames burned within, seemingly without an end in sight.
