Beastmaster of the Ages

Many wonderians saw the misty giant at once and exclaimed, ”Rex Mundi!”

They knelt down with excitement because this meant that their rex mundi had something important to announce.

”Greetings, Rex Mundi!”

Their fiery gazes focused on the ephemeral world wonder. Fengqing Youyun was among them, and he knew that his father had gone to deal with Wudi.

Does he have good news to announce? Fengqing Youyun wondered. Lin Ke and Li Fan were dead; he hoped that Fengqing Youmeng would come back alive.

The wonderians stared at the misty giant in the sky. At that moment, the misty giant created by the ephemeral world wonder looked down at the people and said in a deep voice, ”This operation is a trap aimed at us, but I’ve seen through their plans. Choose a marker point or leave the Sun and return to the Skydome Mundus through the Xenoworld!”

A trap?! Upon hearing the word, most of the wonderians froze. They had already long been baffled by this battle. Never in their history had eight million wonderians attacked the Infinitum Mundus. But now their rex mundi claimed that it was all a trap?

They looked at each other in confusion. Those still fighting in the Flameyellow Guard Formation were too stunned to react. Retreating after fighting for so long? Over ninety percent of them were dumbfounded.

”Withdraw at once! Or you’ll suffer the consequences!” the cloud giant roared.

”Yes, Rex Mundi!”

”I’ve said it before! We shouldn’t have sacrificed so many lives.”

”Stop wasting time. Let’s leave. There’s nothing here. I wanted to leave a long time ago.”

”It’s just an ether-class world. It’s not like it’s Ebonia. How can there be any treasures? If there really are any, our rex mundi can stay behind.”

The wonderians had just set up marker points in the area, and they could use them now. Wudi cooperated as well. Anyone who wanted to leave wouldn’t be stopped. Instead, he would actually clear a passage for them. Numerous wonderians were upset because it had taken them a lot of effort to make such progress. It was a waste.

”Father....” The stupefied Fengqing Youyun watched the entire wonderian army retreat. He knew details about the four-way alliance between his father, Myriadpath Valley, Intrepidus, and the ebons. At that very moment, Mister Taihe was setting up a Starshatter Formation. Their astral gods would be required afterward, yet his father had actually ordered the entire army to retreat?

Something was wrong.

Most importantly, Meng Ying had said it was a trap, but Fengqing Youyun knew that his father was on a mission for revenge after losing his mother. He was about to go mad with rage and grief—how could he choose to retreat?

Father told no one about the real purpose of this operation. They don’t know anything. Most of them came here in a fog, so there’s nothing they can do except obey his order to leave.... Fengqing Youyun felt chills crawl up his spine at the thought.

”Father would never order us to retreat! But that was his ephemeral world wonder!” He couldn’t figure it out. ”Something’s wrong! Something’s very wrong!” He had an unsettling premonition.

Although his transmission stone couldn’t connect to the Skydome Mundus, the wonderians had their own way to exchange information: the wondersky realm!

While everyone withdrew from the Sun, Fengqing Youyun entered Wondrium in the wondersky realm.

”Fourth brother, fourth sister! Go to the Supreme Hall and check our father’s subsoul!” Fengqing Youyun said, his voice hoarse.

”What do you mean?” a divine wonderian pair asked with confusion. Their mother’s subsoul had disappeared a while ago, which meant she was dead. They had been terrified at the time. But now they were being asked to check on their father.

Their hearts skipped a beat, then began violently pounding.

”No, it can’t be!”

Meng Ying was the pillar of the Skydome Mundus. They didn’t dare to imagine what would happen to a mundus without a Foundation stage rex mundi.

”Go now!” Fengqing Youyun urged. He could only pace around and anxiously wait for their return. The inexplicable feeling in his heart made his steps unsteady and his scalp numb.

A while later, the two wonderians reappeared before him, their faces pale and defeated, legs trembling. Upon seeing their reactions, Fengqing Youyun felt a loud explosion in his head and pain stabbed his heart. He fell to his knees before the other two could speak.

”Fengqing Youyun, what happened in the Infinitum Mundus? Why’s our father’s subsoul gone? Doesn’t that mean he’s dead?”

”Fengqing Youyun, say something!”

Their voices shook as they spoke.

”I... I....” Fengqing Youyun failed to get the words out. Tears streamed down his cheeks. It was all genuine, even if they were in the wondersky realm.

”So the ephemeral world wonder is controlled by someone else.... There were also rumors from the ebons about someone using the eightpart apparition wonder to attack the wildbeasts. I didn’t believe it then....”

Meng Ying had been tight-lipped about anything concerning Moran. Although he didn’t want another soul to know, Moran’s appearance meant that his secret could no longer remain hidden.

”Who can deprive the dead of their wonders?” Fengqing Youyun felt as if he had been hit by a heavy hammer. He knew it had to be someone from Tianming’s side.

”He wants to trick us into retreating!” His eyes turned completely red. ”No, I must avenge our parents!”

The rex mundi of the Skydome Mundus, along with hundreds of thousands of majestic wonderians, had died on the Sun and been deprived of their wonders. How could they just withdraw their troops and leave in shame?

”We must make them pay!” Fengqing Youyun roared. Then, emerging from the wondersky realm, he returned to the Sun.

”Yes, I must find Mister Taihe and Demoness Yin!” Fengqing Youyun wanted to shout but there were too many wonderians.

Those within the Flameyellow Guard Formation were retreating toward the sky. Although it had been a challenge for them to break into the formation, withdrawing was extremely easy because Wudi had cleared a broad path for them. By the time Fengqing Youyun returned, over two million wonderians had retreated. All of their efforts had been in vain!

”Senior! Senior!” Fengqing Youyun hastily approached Mister Taihe, Demoness Yin, and the other powerful experts from Intrepidus.
