Beastmaster of the Ages

”Ghostmist Valley!”

Dongshen Zhuojun stood atop his astralship, looking out at the sky. On the other side of the horizon, the ocean roiled and numerous waves that reached tens of thousands of meters high surged into the sky. Countless, densely packed blue whales swam in them. Rolling up and down, the firmament ocean wonder radiated starlight and shot out ice. The roar of millions of giant whales was melodious and profound, but still caused the mountains and waters to tremble. The heavens fell and the earth split. It’d been a long time since such a dramatic battle had been staged in Ebonia.

”The power of their divine wonders is so terrifying!”

Turning to Dongshen Xiaoli and the others, Dongshen Zhuojun said, ”When we get there, you’re all to stay on the astralship. No one is allowed to leave. I’m going to save them!”

”Alright!” They nodded.

”Stay here. Don’t make a move unless an opportunity presents itself.”

On the astralship were hundreds of cultivators from the Grandnorth Dongshen Clan. However, Dongshen Zhuojun didn’t involve them in the battle because numbers didn’t really matter against divine wonders. If they weren’t strong enough, more people wouldn’t change a thing.

The astralship continued toward its destination.

”Uncle must be very sad....” He knew what the old man was like. Lin Xiao was known for his loyalty and dependability. He had once been recognized by the entire world. if it weren’t for Lin Mu, he would have been just as respected as Ku.

His gaze fiery, Dongshen Zhuojun watched innumerable strands of brown sword ki erupt above the firmament ocean wonder, surging amid the waters.

”Uncle’s still alive! Hurry up!” The astralship shaped like a blazing centipede descended down from the sky and shot toward Ghostmist Valley.

”In order to get revenge, Aunt and Uncle fought hard against the passing of time, cultivated day and night, and resisted the natural laws. They’re definitely aging slower than anyone in Ebonia. Did those bastards watch the succession override and assume that was their strongest? Let’s see how miserably you wonderians die if Aunt and Uncle manage to hold on!” Dongshen Zhuojun’s heart trembled. He was extremely nervous, afraid they would be defeated before he arrived.

You must hold on! Just as he thought that, a sudden change in the situation made him freeze. There was an explosion ahead.

Dongshen Zhuojun looked out, only to see an enormous wooden sword pierce through the firmament ocean wonder as it soared into the sky. The wooden sword was so large that it seemed to breach the atmosphere. Its majestic power shattered the seemingly indestructible firmament ocean wonder into countless tiny water droplets and it rained over thousands of miles. The giant blue whales crumbled under the destructive power of the wooden sword. In just an instant, several billion whales had been destroyed with one strike.

”The Lin Sword of the Middle!” Dongshen Zhuojun stood still in complete shock. The emotion in his eyes went from anger to excitement and a deep look of admiration emerged.

”Uncle is indeed the best example of the saying that a great talent matures slowly. He’s actually been recognized by the second branch’s ancestral sword! This must be the first time he’s using it. My God! He’s almost six thousand years old! That must be a record for the Lin Clan!”

”Father, what’s the situation like!” Dongshen Xiaoli anxiously asked.

Dongshen Zhuojun was no longer worried, so he slowed down. Laughing heartily, he said, ”The two divine wonders were destroyed with just one strike of the Lin Sword of the Middle. Uncle and Aunt must be furious that they killed Lin Dan. They’ll definitely make the wonderians pay with their lives!”

He wasn’t the only one that was surprised—the people in the astralships behind them exclaimed in shock as well. The Lin Sword of the Middle. The words resounded through the air.

”By the time other seniors get to Uncle’s age, they’ve lost at least half their strength and will continue to lose the rest of it over the thousand or so years they have left. Uncle is the only one who’s fought against time and all odds, achieving something he failed to do even in his prime! Over the past ten thousand years, Uncle and Ku are the only ones in the Swordgod Lin Clan to be recognized by their ancestral swords. Ku has passed, but now Uncle has mastered the ancestral sword—which is almost the same as taking over the Swordgod Lin Clan!”

Dongshen Zhuojun finally regained his composure. Stopping his astralship, he quickly exited it and headed into the depths of Ghostmist Valley.

”If it weren’t for this unfortunate event, Uncle might’ve never revealed the Lin Sword of the Middle. It’s clear that he planned on hiding it for a while longer, waiting for a more suitable time…. But with all that said and done, perhaps the Lin Clan will be able to accept him. He might even have a chance to return to the council hall!” Dongshen Zhuojun was thrilled.

The battle seemed to be over. Dongshen Zhuojun quickly shuttled through the fragments of the two divine wonders, finally reaching the center of the battlefield. The entire place was heavily damaged. The old couple were the only ones still standing. One of them held an ordinary wooden sword stabbed into the ground. He was hunched over, leaning on the wooden sword for support, heavily panting. Before them were two corpses lying on the ground, their heptastar organs completely devoured by sword ki. Etherean Zhaohua had died in battle. Even if their bodies still contained immense power, their astrons had started to dim with the loss of their heptastar organs.

The scene was deeply engraved in Dongshen Zhuojun’s heart. He felt the old couple’s helplessness and sadness. They hated this sort of thing; what could revenge do? The innocent were still lost forever.

Lin Xiao sat on the ground, covering his face with his sleeve as he wept, his wooden sword thrown aside. Squatting beside him, Dongshen Yue wrapped her arms around him, her eyes red. Her face was pressed against his thin shoulders. The two gods of slaughter were now so helpless. Fate had made a fool out of them many times. Even if they persisted and gave it their all, they couldn’t change the result.

The divine wonderians were dead, but so was Lin Dan. With the internal disputes within the Lin Clan, more innocent people might perish in the future. The difference in ideas had caused endless friction, and they were so old. What could they change even if they fought against all odds and persevered? The wound in Lin Xiao’s heart could never be healed. Struggling to climb to his feet, he searched for Lin Dan’s remains, but the chaos of the battle had turned everything to dust. Not a single hair of his was left. Lin Xiao stood lifelessly in the thick mist.

”Ebons....” He knew who was responsible for their situation. ”I won’t give up until you’re dead!” He clenched his teeth, tears filling his eyes. At that moment, he made a decision. When he picked up his sword, his eyes grew colder.

Helping Dongshen Yue to her feet, he said, ”Let’s go back.”

Dongshen Yue left with him.
