Beastmaster of the Ages

Dongshen Yue spoke to Dongshen Zhuojun through the gold transmission stone. Soon after, Dongshen Zhuojun of the Grandnorth Dongshen Clan returned with questions. Dongshen Yue quickly explained what happened. ”I’ll hand the girls over to you first. If we don’t come back, take them to Mount Taia. I’ll leave Feng’er to you as well. You must keep these children alive.”

”The ebons must’ve paid someone from another mundus to do this!” Dongshen Zhuojun angrily said.

”So what if we know?” There wasn’t anything they could do, since the one who executed this wasn’t an ebon.

”Should I go with you?” Dongshen Zhuojun asked.

”No, someone must’ve cleared the way and offered protection for an outsider to dare to do something like this in Ebonia. Once you show up, Gou Dan is dead,” Dongshen Yue helplessly said.

”Give me a sign when you’re there, and notify me as soon as he’s is safe!” Dongshen Zhuojun said.

”Okay.”

”I’ll take a few people, all you have to do is hold on. So what if the ebons cleared a path for them? I’d like to see how they’re going to escape! How dare an outsider behave so boldly in the Infinitum Bodhimanda?!”

Although the ebons had made secret arrangements, they wouldn’t dare openly help them. Of course, they wouldn’t be afraid if the killer died once the mission was deemed a failure. They wouldn’t have lost anything.

”If we die, take care of the children, Jun!” Dongshen Yue patted his shoulder.

”Don’t worry, Aunt. The kids won’t die as long as the Grandnorth Dongshen Clan stands, as long as I’m alive!” Dongshen Zhuojun assured.

”You’re a good child.” Dongshen Yue was dissatisfied with many people, but she was very pleased with Dongshen Zhuojun. He was the future of the Grandnorth Dongshen Clan! When Dongshen Yang dies, he would be perfect to take over Mount Taia.

”Lao’er, let’s go.” The two quickly disappeared in the darkness. There was no way they could go on their astralship. What they wanted was an opportunity to kill the old couple, and how was their opponent supposed to do that if they came in an astralship? It would be very easy for them to kill the hostage.

......

In the depths of the darkness, the black ocean was surging.

”They’ve left” Putting away the transmission stone, Xuan Hua smiled gently at his other half beside him.

”Just the two of them?”

”We can’t do anything about that. It’d be too obvious if we asked them to bring Weisheng Moran. What we can do is kill the two, then find a way to get the little one. According to the ebons, they handed the child to Dongshen Zhuojun of the Grandnorth Dongshen Clan. Once Lin Dan’s safe, Dongshen Zhuojun will probably immediately head over in his astralship and bring Weisheng Moran with him. We can take her away in the chaos,” Xuan Hua said.

”This Dongshen Zhuojun is about the same age as us,” Gu Zhao pointed out.

They were well aware of Dongshen Zhuoyun’s current situation. Because of the pressure from the ebons, he didn’t have many reliable friends, so he would be sure to take Moran with him.

”About the same? It’s a pity that he’s alone, but there’s two of us.” Xuan Hua grinned.

Gu Zhao smiled as well. Then, narrowing her eyes, she said, ”Since that’s the case, let’s get him to come sooner.”

”You mean to release the hostage as soon as Lin Xiao gets here? Would that leave enough time for us to kill Lin Xiao and Dongshen Yue?” Xuan Hua asked.

”Judging from their performance in the clan council hall, we’ll have more than enough time. But we can’t release the hostage as soon as they arrive. The old couple might just run away,” Gu Zhao said .

”I understand. Only if we kill the hostage will they refuse to leave.” Xuan Hua glanced at Lin Dan behind him, his eyes filled with contempt.

”Poor guy. Don’t blame us—they’re the ones that caused your death!” A mischievous smile appeared on Gu Zhao’s innocent, harmless face.

......

”Ghostmist Valley!”

In the darkness, Lin Xiao and Dongshen Yue stood atop a black saber-toothed tiger, tearing through the cloaking barrier. They transformed into a ray of dark starlight and shot into the distance. Soon, they saw their destination, Ghostmist Valley. Ebonia was enormous, and given the speed of their lifebound beasts, it had taken them an hour to get here. However, Ghostmist Valley wouldn’t have seemed that far from the Oldgod Domain if they were traveling on an astralship.

Ghostmist Valley was a large and deep basin. It had supposedly been formed when a skypiercer-class nova source world crashed into the surface in ancient times. The eruption of underground nova source had formed a mist that filled the valley all year round. Many nova wildbeasts climbed to the surface via Ghostmist Valley, wreaking havoc all around. As a result, there were few signs of human habitation in the area around the valley, which was known as a place of terror. The depths of Ghostmist Valley was even the closest place to the fusion formation on the surface of the world.

”Hmm…. Isn’t Ghostmist Valley a vast basin? How’d it become an ocean?” Dongshen Yue looked around. Under the black clouds ahead, what should have been an abyss had turned into a blue ocean similar to the Infinitum Swordsea, with no end in sight.

”Given the size of the valley, this ocean is at least a hundred times deeper than the Infinitum Swordsea. When was there such an increase in water?” Dongshen Yue was extremely puzzled.

”That isn’t an ocean. It’s a divine wonder.” Lin Xiao frowned.

”A divine wonder big enough to fill the entire Ghostmist Valley? How big would that be!” Dongshen Yue exclaimed.

As cultivators of the Infinitum Mundus, they had very little experience in fighting wondermancers.

”That means our opponent is a top expert of the divine wonderians. The ebons are so great they’re able to command a divine wonderian expert!” Lin Xiao grit his teeth.

”Maybe it’s just a transaction and both parties get what they need.”

“So what do the divine wonderians need?”

”We’ll know in a while.”

”I only hope they keep their promise and let Gou Dan live. As long as he lives, I’ll fight them, if that’s what they want. I’ve only come across wondermancers a few times in my life. I’d like to see how strong they are.”

”An expert like this shouldn’t make him suffer as long as we come as they ask....”

They exchanged a look filled with worry.

”Let’s go!”

As soon as they entered the ocean, they could clearly feel the difference between an actual ocean and one that had appeared out of thin air. The water was composed of an enormous divine wonder that powered a formation. The moment they entered, they were imprisoned by their opponent’s formation.

”This is a high-ether-class divine wonder!”

Divine wonders adopted the same classification as nova wildbeasts. A wondermancer with a high-ether-class divine wonder was about as strong as an high-ether-class nova wildbeast, or a beastmaster or totemancer at advanced levels of the Cosmic Cartography stage. High-ether-class nova wildbeasts were terrifying, second only to infinitum-class ones. They were countless times stronger than low-sanctuary-class beasts, like the superfiend, and even if the superfiend were to develop to its peak, it would merely be a low-ether-class which was still a long way from high-ether class.
