Milf Cashback System:Every beauty I spend on makes me richer

The two men by the door did nothing.

Liam watched them for another ten minutes, the music swelling and easing around him in long, glittering waves, glasses clinking somewhere close behind every few seconds like a rhythm all its own.

In those ten minutes the two men checked their watches twice, spoke to no one, and left exactly the same distance between themselves and the doors the entire time.

If they were what he thought they were, they were remarkably bad at it. If they weren’t, he’d wasted an evening building a threat out of two men who just didn’t like parties.

The system stayed quiet. No chime. No update. Just the number sitting where it had landed 57.8% refusing to move in either direction.

Maybe I’m wrong about them, he thought, and didn’t fully believe it, and let the thought go anyway because there was nothing else to do with it.

Claire had drifted back into the crowd near the dance floor, laughing at something, entirely unbothered, the gold light catching the emerald of her dress every time she turned.

Around her the party had loosened into something warmer barefoot women dancing on marble, champagne passed hand to hand, the string quartet somewhere above it all still threading its quiet, half-drowned melody under the noise.

Whatever tension had lived in the room twenty minutes ago had thinned into something almost forgettable. Liam felt his own guard easing along with it, just slightly.

A waiter clipped a passing guest’s elbow near the center of the floor, and a glass of red wine went down across pale blue silk with a small, sharp gasp swallowed almost instantly by the music.

Claire was there within seconds, all easy hostess warmth, waving off the waiter’s apology, ”Give me two minutes,” she called over her shoulder, laughing, already moving, the sound of her voice folding back into the general hum of the party before Liam had even fully registered she’d gone.

He started after her out of habit but a hand landed on his arm before he’d gone three steps. ”Sterling. It is Sterling, isn’t it?”

The man was older, silver-templed, a glass of champagne in one hand and the easy confidence of someone who belonged in this room without trying. ”Graham Whitlock. I was on Bright Horizon’s original investment committee. I have to say, the way you handled that Harrison business — well. People talk.”

”I appreciate that.” Liam kept half an eye past the man’s shoulder, tracking the last flash of emerald as it slipped through a side door, gold light giving way to something dimmer beyond it. ”I’m sorry, I actually need to”

”Just a moment of your time. I’ve got investors who’d love to hear how you”

It cost him forty seconds. Maybe fifty. Long enough to be polite, short enough not to be rude, and by the time Liam extracted himself and crossed to the side hallway, the music already thinning out behind him with every step, the door Claire had gone through stood ajar.

The small side room beyond it was empty except for an abandoned wine-stained wrap draped over a chair, and the party’s noise, muffled now, felt like it belonged to a different building entirely.

No Claire. No woman in blue silk either. His pulse didn’t spike yet. Not yet.

He found the woman in blue silk first, alone near the coat check, dabbing at her dress with a cloth someone had handed her, the ballroom’s gold glow still washing faintly over her from the open doors nearby.

”The girl who was helping you,” Liam said. ”Where did she go?”

”Oh she found me a wrap, and then someone called her away. Staff emergency, I thin, maybe? She seemed like she knew him.”

”Knew who?”

”I don’t know his name. He had one of the event badges I think. Nice enough. Seemed like she trusted him.”

The woman shrugged, already losing interest, already looking back down at the stain on her dress, the music from the main room swelling again behind her as if nothing at all had happened.

Liam had walked this ballroom for four hours. He’d catalogued the two suited men by the door a dozen times over. He had never once looked twice at catering staff.

That, he understood immediately, had been the mistake.

He didn’t call anyone. There wasn’t time to explain it, and no one else would reach the service corridor before he could.

A soft, cold chime sounded in his mind, and this time it didn’t stop at one line.

Target proximity lost.

He pushed through a service door, and the party fell away behind him almost at once the gold light replaced by flat fluorescent tubes, the music reduced to a dull bass thud through the wall, muffled laughter and clinking glasses fading with every step.

The corridor forked. Left toward the kitchens, loud with clattering trays and shouted orders, steam and the smell of seared food drifting out into the hall.

Right toward the loading dock, quiet, a service door propped an inch open against the frame, letting in a thin blade of night air that carried no music in it at all.

He went right.

Critical.

The loading dock was empty in the specific way rooms are empty when something has just left them. Behind him, faint and tinny through the walls, the party’s music kept playing to a room that had no idea anything was wrong.

One shoe lay on its side near the propped door, the strap still buckled, as if it had been stepped out of rather than removed.

A little further on, a small clutch purse sat abandoned against the wall, unopened, exactly the kind Claire had been carrying all night. Near the dock’s edge, a single champagne flute lay shattered, the stem snapped clean, a dark stain spreading slowly across the concrete.

He crouched automatically, fingertips brushing the stain.

Sticky. Warm.He looked at his fingers.Blood. Not much of it a knuckle’s worth, maybe, someone’s, he didn’t know whose yet but enough to tell him someone had fought back before they’d lost.

Past the dock, low voices carried on the night air, closer than he expected. Not an engine. Not yet. Footsteps on gravel, one of them uneven, dragging. Behind him, muffled and absurd, a ripple of laughter rose from the ballroom at something he’d never know the punchline to.

[SYSTEM WARNING]

Protected target in immediate danger.

Liam came off the dock at a dead run.

The alley bent sharply behind the hotel, floodlit at one end and swallowed in shadow at the other, and it was in that shadow that he found them three men, , one gripping Claire by both arms while she twisted hard, another with a hand clamped over the lower half of her face, the third standing at the mouth of a waiting van with its side door already sliding open.

Claire’s eyes found Liam’s over the man’s hand.

The nearest man turned at the sound of his footsteps, already reaching inside his jacket. Liam didn’t slow down at all.
