Who Let Him Play Yugioh? (Re-Upload)

”Nngh—!”

Taking the full damage, her remaining LP was wiped out in a single stroke. Akiza let out a stifled sound and fell to her knees, drained.

She couldn’t help it—Kira was just too strong. Even the most powerful psychic duelist of the arcadia movement nearly couldn’t handle it.

”This pain... what...?”

She braced herself with one hand, face pale, speechless.

That attack was nothing like ordinary damage; it was fundamentally different from their usual psychic duels.

Yes, there was the impact of physical force, but it seemed to pierce deeper, affecting even her spirit—a kind of pain she’d never felt before.

Perhaps, for the first time in her life, Akiza felt her power was truly suppressed.

And that was only on the superpower level.

Kira also had proven what he’d said: that she didn’t truly grasp her deck, nor her power.

Defeated by his combo, all she felt was frustration.

Like being played in the palm of someone’s hand, forced to watch herself burned again and again by endless Cluster Amaryllis, completely powerless to stop it.

Truth be told, though she’d always been hated by others—in terms of dueling, Akiza truly loved it deep down.

After all, if her powers could only be triggered in card duels, then, theoretically, as long as she never touched cards, she could’ve lived a normal life.

Of course, in the world of Yu-Gi-Oh!, staying clear of dueling probably limits one’s destiny, but if she just wanted a regular life, it was possible.

Yet she never gave up dueling—in fact, she was clearly addicted to the game.

So today may have been the first time she ever thought, Maybe I should just get a real job.

Maybe... dueling isn’t that important after all.

The key was, having been defeated like this, she couldn’t even complain. Black Garden and Cluster Amaryllis were her own favorite cards. She herself had never pushed them this far.

Self-burn was her favorite tactic. Black Garden always locked down the field. Even in the anime, during her first duel with Yusei, it was hinted she found joy in dealing damage. She had great potential as a ”lockdown” player.

But when a ”lockdown” gets out-locked, the entire player collapses.

Her hair messy, head bowed, she knelt until a shadow fell across her, blocking out the moonlight. She looked up, dazed, seeing ”Director Goodwin” standing before her, blocking the window’s glow—his icy face turning indistinct.

She snapped out of it, then bit her lip.

Akiza: ”Why don’t you kill me? Like you did Sayer?”

Kira tilted his head.

”Why, indeed...”

He answered slowly.

”Probably because... right now, you don’t even have the value to be killed by me.”

Akiza: ”!”

Such arrogance angered her even more, but she couldn’t refute it. For her defeat was total.

Her opponent hadn’t even used his main deck. He used a similar deck, even the same cards and style—and crushed her, almost toying with her.

He crushed her duel, her power, and nearly her mind.

”But there is one thing you have over Sayer,” Kira’s tone was flat. ”You have potential. The possibility to become even stronger.”

”If it’s you right now, no matter how many times you try, you have zero chance of beating me.

But—you do still have that potential. That’s why I’m giving you a chance—a chance for you to grow, to one day challenge and get your revenge.”

He flicked his finger, a white envelope floating down to land in front of Akiza.

Instinctively she caught it, lingering in a daze before asking, ”What’s this?”

”A Fortune Cup invitation,” Kira said. ”A tournament hosted by Sector Security.

They’ve invited duelists from around the world—every one an elite proven in their own field.

And, even more importantly—”

He paused here, glanced at the Dragon Mark on Akiza’s arm, and smiled.

”—the other Dragon Signers will all be there too. Except for you, of course.”

Akiza: ”!”

She couldn’t help but look up, shocked.

”Yes, all the Dragon Signers will come,” Kira said. ”Who knows what will happen when they fight... but it should be worth looking forward to.”

”Director Goodwin” turned to the window, hands behind his back.

Watching him with his guard completely down, Akiza had a sudden thought: If she attacked with psychic force now, she could easily finish the job.

But the thought vanished in a flash.

For some reason, she knew—if she tried it, nothing good would come of it. Only shame.

She did nothing.

”Oh, one more thing,” Kira continued, ”There’s an interesting privilege: The Fortune Cup champion gains the right to challenge the king of New Domino City—Jack Atlas.

And Jack Atlas... is also a Dragon Signer.”

Akiza’s eyes widened.

Jack was one too?

Instinctively she glanced at her own Dragon Mark.

”That’s right, Jack Atlas is a Dragon Signer like you—but he’s already at the top of the city.

If you can win the Fortune Cup, you’ll grow stronger through those battles. By then, I will accept your challenge.

Maybe then, you’ll finally understand the real truths. About the Dragon Signers, about Sayer, and all the secrets you’ve never truly known—about your own world.”

Kira gave her a sly look.

”Well?”

Not long after, Akiza gripped the envelope tight, forced herself to her feet, and purpose returned to her amber eyes.

”I’ll go.” She said.

”Good.”

Kira turned to leave, waving over his shoulder.

”I’ll be waiting.”

Hate me, then get stronger, foolish girl.

Only then can you see your own fate.

Why the hell I sounds like Itachi?
