Who Let Him Play Yugioh? (Re-Upload)

”Effect of Soul Synchro: Special Summon a set of Synchro Material Monsters from the graveyard.”

Kira snapped his fingers, and the two monsters he’d used earlier appeared again on his field.

[Jutte Fighter – ATK 700]

[Oracle of the Sun – ATK 1000]

Mr. Armstrong tensed. ”With that setup… Are you going to Synchro Summon again?”

”Level 2, Tuner Monster: Jutte Fighter.

Level 5, Oracle of the Sun.

Tuning!”

[2+5=7]

”Once more, I will cut through all obstacles with my blade! Synchro Summon—

—Seven Swords Warrior!”

The Synchro’s light descended again, slicing through the waterfall of light. Golden armor gleamed over the warrior’s body as he arrived again, holding twin swords.

[Seven Swords Warrior – ATK 2300]

”Him again?” Mr. Armstrong exclaimed, shocked.

There’s actually a second copy… Is this card the Director’s ace?

Kira continued, ”Next, I activate the equip spell ’Black Pendant’ from my hand. Black Pendant equips to Seven Swords Warrior, increasing his attack by 500!”

A black aura condensed in midair, forming a necklace. It circled twice before gently landing on Seven Swords Warrior’s neck, the energy quickly surging into him and increasing his strength.

[Seven Swords Warrior – ATK 2300 → 2800]

”He equipped a spell…” Mr. Armstrong realized, his face changing. ”Right, that Warrior’s effect…”

”Activating Seven Swords Warrior’s monster effect!” Kira declared. ”When an equip card is equipped to Seven Swords Warrior, inflict 800 points of damage to your opponent.”

Seven Swords Warrior slashed, sending a wave of black energy sweeping over Mr. Armstrong. The duel disk’s shock system activated again—Mr. Armstrong howled in agony like a pig being slaughtered.

[Mr. Armstrong – LP 2500 → 1700]

After another round of electric shock, Mr. Armstrong was practically numb, stumbling unsteadily, barely able to stay standing.

”Warden? Warden?”

Kira called out twice before Mr. Armstrong came to his senses.

”You okay?”

”I-I’m fine! This is nothing…”

”Oh—well, that’s good,” Kira smiled. ”In that case, let’s continue.

Next, I’ll activate Seven Swords Warrior’s second effect.

Once per turn, I can send an Equip Card equipped to this card to the graveyard.

When an Equip Card equipped to this card is sent to the graveyard, I can destroy one face-up monster on your field.”

Kira pointed to Mr. Armstrong’s sole ”Iron Chain Repairman.”

”I’ll send the Equip Spell ’Black Pendant’ to the graveyard to destroy ’Chain Iron Chain Repairman.’”

The Black Pendant vanished from the Warrior’s neck as he struck; the necklace seemed to merge with his sword energy as he slashed toward the pudgy Iron Chain Repairman.

Mr. Armstrong cried, ”I activate my set card, Trap Card ’Metal Coat’!

After activation, this card equips itself to my monster. The equipped monster cannot be destroyed by card effects!”

(This is an anime-only card from 5D’s.)

”Metal Coat equips to ’Chain Iron Chain Repairman,’ protecting him from Seven Swords Warrior’s effect destruction!”

A layer of metallic armor appeared on Iron Chain Repairman’s round belly, blocking the Warrior’s sword energy.

”Oh—nice defense,” Kira nodded. ”But at this moment, ’Black Pendant’ activates its effect as well.

When the Equip Spell ’Black Pendant’ is sent from the field to the graveyard, inflict 500 damage to the opponent.”

Mr. Armstrong: ”!”

Not again!?

The Black Pendant reappeared right above Mr. Armstrong’s head. He looked up at the necklace, looming like a grim reaper, face terrified and body trembling.

No, not again, please—

”AHHHHH—!”

The necklace released black lightning, striking down. Mr. Armstrong convulsed from the electric shock, and his screams echoed through the prison yard.

Nearly every prisoner there had only witnessed such scenes in their dreams—seeing the warden who once tormented them now suffering in front of their eyes. Almost all felt the same phrase rise in their hearts:

—Utterly satisfying!

[Mr. Armstrong – LP 1700 → 1200]

Mr. Armstrong caught his breath, face pale and twisted.

”D-damn…”

It wasn’t huge damage—five hundred or eight hundred a pop, but like getting stung by bees over and over. Especially with the shock system he’d installed.

If it had just been one or two massive hits for a quick finish, that would have been less suffering. But now it was torture, like death by a thousand cuts.

This must be why old-school dark duelists like Marik loved burn damage—to have a burn deck and a dark game system is a perfect match.

You don’t even have to zero your opponent’s LP; just burn them several times and they could lose their fighting spirit altogether.

”Not done yet. Warden, you’re not finished already, are you?”

Kira chuckled softly.

”Battle Phase.

Seven Swords Warrior attacks ’Chain Iron Chain Repairman’!”

At this moment, ”Black Pendant” was gone, so Seven Swords Warrior’s attack was back to normal.

[Seven Swords Warrior – ATK 2300]

Seven Swords Warrior charged, swinging both swords for Iron Chain Repairman’s head and chest. Chain Iron Chain Repairman tried to block with his hammer, but was far too slow. Seven Swords easily knocked his hammer aside and thrust straight for his chest.

Mr. Armstrong shouted, ”But Iron Chain Repairman still has ’Soul Anchor’ equipped!

A monster equipped with Soul Anchor cannot be destroyed by battle!”

With ”Soul Anchor” and ”Metal Coat,” his monster had resistance to destruction by both battle and card effects.

”But regardless,” Kira said mildly, ”you’ll still take battle damage.”

[Mr. Armstrong – LP 1200 → 500]

The energy slash struck true, drawing another agonized scream. Mr. Armstrong’s muscles involuntarily spasmed, and it took him much longer to stand back up this time.

”I set two cards and end my turn.” Kira said calmly. ”It’s your move.”

”Uhh…”

Mr. Armstrong was sweating as if in a rainstorm, and his vision was starting to blur.

He had ordered the shock system to be capped at a non-lethal level, since he didn’t actually want prisoners dying—he didn’t want that kind of trouble.

But he did make sure the shocks were as painful as possible without killing them. Otherwise, what’s the point?

Never had he imagined he’d be on the receiving end one day…
