Who Let Him Play Yugioh? (Re-Upload)

”You don’t belong to this world.”

Goodwin questioned again.

”Are you from the future? Or from a spacetime similar to this one?”

He paused, then asked in an even colder tone,

”Have you seen the Earthbound Immortals?”

Kira gave a mysterious smile. ”Well, who knows? Maybe I have, maybe not~.”

Goodwin snorted. ”If you think playing mysterious will scare me, you’re underestimating me.

My turn’s still going.

Because my Sun Dragon Inti was just resynchro summoned, the Continuous Spell ’Celestial Bell Tower’ activates. When I perform a Synchro Summon, I can draw one card from my deck.”

He glanced at the card he drew, then played it immediately.

”Spell Card: ’Magic Planter’! I send a Continuous Spell from the field to the graveyard, then draw two cards from my deck.

I’ll send ’Celestial Bell Tower’ to the graveyard and draw two more.”

Goodwin drew again, then immediately announced the start of the Battle Phase.

”The reason I haven’t summoned an Earthbound Immortal is simple: there’s no need. You’re not even worthy of one’s intervention.

Battle! I attack ’Berserkion the Electromagna Warrior’ with ’Sun Dragon Inti’!”

[Sun Dragon Inti, ATK 3000]

[Berserkion the Electromagna Warrior, ATK 3000]

With equal attack points, both will be destroyed. But that’s precisely Goodwin’s plan.

Once Sun Dragon Inti is destroyed, Moon Dragon Quilla will be Special Summoned from the graveyard. Monsters revived during the Battle Phase can still attack. With Kira’s field empty, a direct attack can guarantee Goodwin’s victory.

No need for the Earthbound Immortal—victory is already assured!

Sun Dragon opened its four jaws wide again, flames converged into a molten stream that pierced the air. The Magnet Warrior swung its sword, blade crackling with energy. The fiery current and electrified blade collided midair, exploding energy in every direction.

Electric currents pierced Sun Dragon, shattering it. Simultaneously, Sun Dragon’s heat ray tore through the Magnet Warrior, reducing it to fragments as well.

”When Sun Dragon is destroyed, Moon Dragon Quilla revives from the grave!” Goodwin declared. ”Return, Moon Dragon Quilla!”

As sunlight faded, an icy blue moon quietly emerged. Moonlight gathered into a ghostly blue core, which raised four heads with a unified roar.

[Moon Dragon Quilla, ATK 2500]

”This is the end!” Goodwin said. ”Quilla attacks dire—”

”…?!”

Just as he was about to shout ”direct attack,” Goodwin’s pupils contracted. He stopped mid-command.

Because, as the smoke cleared, the supposedly destroyed Electromagnet Warrior had split into three! The shattered steel body’s components reformed into the three Magnet Warriors that composed it before combining.

[Alpha the Electromagnet Warrior, DEF 1000]

[Beta the Electromagnet Warrior, DEF 1500]

[Gamma the Electromagnet Warrior, DEF 2000]

”The Magnet Warriors before combining?” Goodwin was stunned. ”How?”

”It’s Berserkion’s other effect,” Kira grinned. ”If it’s destroyed by battle or by your card effect, I can Special Summon one each of Alpha, Beta, and Gamma from my banished pile to the field.”

Goodwin: ”!”

So when destroyed, they can automatically separate? Damn, and with that wretched Magnetic field…

Magnetic Field: Once per turn, if your EARTH Rock-Type monster battles and doesn’t destroy an opponent’s monster, after damage calculation, return that monster to the owner’s hand.

At first glance, the three returned Magnet Warriors look weak and unimportant. But with this odd field spell, they became as troublesome to Goodwin as a nest of hornets. Even if Moon Shadow Dragon revived, he wouldn’t dare attack recklessly.

If he attacks carelessly, Moon Shadow Dragon will be bounced back to the Extra Deck, and his precious duo is gone…

Goodwin was getting a headache.

What a damn field. What a damn Magnet Warrior.

He suddenly doubted: How is an old-school Magnet Warrior deck this irritating?

”Alpha’s effect,” Kira said. ”When summoned, add a Level 8 ’Magnet Warrior’ from your deck to your hand.”

Goodwin: ”!!”

A Level 8 Magnet Warrior… Don’t tell me—he’s fetching Berserkion again?

If Berserkion gets destroyed, it splits back; when Alpha is summoned, retrieve Berserkion, and next turn, fuse again!

Just as Goodwin was about to inhale sharply, Kira smiled. ”Though I’d love to search for a second Berserkion, unfortunately, there’s only one copy in my deck.

Eh, Magnet Warriors are still a work in progress, the deck is far from perfect, bear with me.”

He pulled out the searched card.

”I add ’Valkyrion the Magna Warrior’ from my deck to my hand.”

Kira searched for the classic Valkyrion—the version used by Yugi himself during Battle City.

”Then Beta’s effect: when summoned, add a Level 4 or lower ’Magnet Warrior’ from deck to hand.”

Kira’s deck auto-searches again, and he draws another card.

”I add ’Alpha the Magnet Warrior’ from deck to hand.”

Again, the classic Magnet Warrior that fought alongside Yugi during Battle City.

”Gamma, when summoned, can Special Summon a Magnet Warrior from hand, but I won’t use that effect now.”

Kira smiled, making a polite gesture. ”Now, it’s still your turn. Please continue.”

Goodwin: ”…Did you remember whose turn it is?”

But even if told to continue, he didn’t have much left he could do. With the three Magnet Warriors set up, he couldn’t risk attacking.

With a dark face, Goodwin finally ended his Battle Phase. ”My Battle Phase is over. Then I’ll set a card—”

”Wait, not so fast,” Kira smiled, interrupting. ”At the start of your Main Phase 2, I activate the shared effect of Beta and Gamma: Each can be tributed, during the opponent’s turn, to Special Summon a Level 4 ’Magnet Warrior’ from the deck.

I tribute Beta and Gamma together!

Come, Beta the Magnet Warrior, Gamma the Magnet Warrior!”

The two Electromagnet Warriors dissolved, their parts reassembling into the classic Magnet Warriors—original Battle City skins only.

[Beta the Magnet Warrior, ATK 1700]

[Gamma the Magnet Warrior, ATK 1500]

Goodwin was alarmed.

It’s still going. Still moving pieces.

This is my turn—you’re not done yet?!

But watching Kira’s plays, Goodwin realized—Alpha is in hand, Beta and Gamma on the field; plus, he fetched Valkyrion previously.

Next turn, by sending all three classic Magnet Warriors from field/hand to the grave, he can summon Valkyrion.

Goodwin snorted coldly to himself.

Let it come. So what if it’s a high ATK beater? He’s not scared.

”I set three cards, end my turn,” Goodwin said.

”At the end of the turn, Moon Dragon Quilla destroys itself due to its effect, and Sun Dragon Inti revives from the graveyard!”
