Chapter 81: Chapter 081: Spiritual Beast Blood Contract!

”No, no, I’ll never harm anyone again, you have to believe me!”

The alien insect wailed and sobbed, looking pitifully forlorn.

Ling Feng pinched Golden Needle, sensing the timing was about right, then said, ”It’s not that I cannot spare you, but you have to make a Blood Covenant with me. Only then can I be sure you’ll truly cause no harm.”

”Blood Covenant?” The alien insect blinked its tiny eyes. ”What’s a Blood Covenant?”

”It means from now on you have to stay by my side, got it?”

”Is that so? Then if I get hungry, can I eat...” The alien insect looked up at Ling Feng with a fearful voice, as if afraid that Ling Feng would end its life because of its gluttony.

”You won’t go hungry!”

Ling Feng’s eyebrows raised, and he agreed without hesitation. He didn’t have many friends, but enemies abounded—was there not enough ”food” to feed this little bug?

”Alright, then I’ll make a Blood Covenant with you!” The alien insect, hearing it wouldn’t starve, cheerfully agreed.

Joy secretly surged in Ling Feng’s heart; he hadn’t expected this alien insect to be so easily deceived. Without changing his expression, he simply said, ”Okay, I’m going to imprint the Contract Mark into you now. Don’t resist.”

”Mhm, mhm.” The alien insect eagerly nodded, fearing Ling Feng might change his mind and snuff out its little life.

Ling Feng took a deep breath, performed the hand formation for the Spirit Beast Contract, and quickly mobilized True Qi. He inscribed a Contract Mark, then bit his fingertip. The Contract Mark merged with the blood, emitting a red glow, which he then infused into the alien insect’s body.

The alien insect curiously observed the Contract Mark, offering no resistance as it let the blood-colored imprint merge into its body.

Before long, the blood-colored Contract Mark vanished, and Ling Feng felt a faint connection form with the alien insect in his mind, as if he could sense its condition.

The contract Ling Feng executed was just a common servant-master one. If it were the high-level contracts of Beast Tamers, the connection would be far tighter, allowing complete control over a Spirit Pet’s every move.

”All done.”

Ling Feng put away Golden Needle and saw the puncture marks on the alien insect heal at a visibly fast rate, and in the blink of an eye, it was as if it had never been injured.

Ling Feng was once again amazed, thinking that this alien insect must have been a powerful ancient exotic species, otherwise how could it possess such heaven-defying ability?

”Wow, I’m free.”

The alien insect, with its purple translucent wings, circled around Ling Feng before landing on his shoulder, behaving rather obediently.

This little fellow was only the size of a thumbnail, and its entire body shimmered like purple crystal. If it settled on Ling Feng, it wouldn’t be seen as an insect but rather like a beautiful medal.

”Now that you are my Spirit Pet, let’s give you a name.” Ling Feng glanced at the alien insect and asked, ”By the way, do you have a name?”

”Nope, when I woke up, it was just me. No dad, no mom to coddle me, boo-hoo-hoo...” It was on the verge of crying again.

”Enough, enough,” Ling Feng rolled his eyes, ”from now on, you’ll be called Zi Feng, how about that?”

”Yay, yay.” Zi Feng nodded repeatedly, laughing. ”Haha, I have a name now!”

”Zi Feng, from now on you’ll stay like this on my chest, don’t fidget, and without my permission, don’t use your powers or randomly communicate with others. Not everyone outside is as easy to talk to as I am. If discovered by others, you could be in danger at any time.”

”Mhm, mhm.” Zi Feng nodded eagerly. ”Master, I’ll listen to you!”

”Good,” Ling Feng said, pleased with how he’d cleverly acquired Zi Feng, before turning to look at Yue Zhonglian, who was unconscious beside them.

Judging by the time, the Cangqiong Sect Master should be waking up soon.

As expected, about seven and a half minutes later, Yue Zhonglian gradually came to.

”Ugh...”

Yue Zhonglian groaned, his consciousness having drifted into an abyss of nihility, where he once thought he was dead.

Unexpectedly, he was able to wake up again.

Opening his eyes, Yue Zhonglian saw a slightly pale face.

It was Ling Feng.

Overexertion of the Eye of Plunder left Ling Feng extremely weak at the moment.

Normally, the Eye of Plunder could plunder the essence of flesh and blood from the other person’s body, turning it to his own use and becoming more vigorous as the battle progressed. But Ling Feng had sealed all of Yue Zhonglian’s Divine Soul Essence, absorbing nothing; hence, he became so incredibly weak.

”Young man, this Sect...”

”Sect Master, rest assured, the Alien Insect within your body has been dealt with,” Ling Feng slowly said. ”All that is needed is for this junior to use the Life Creation Needle to complete the Vitality Map for the Sect Master, and then you will naturally recover to your peak state.”

Yue Zhonglian could hardly believe his luck, amazed that he truly escaped death by a hair’s breadth.

”Young man, thank you, thank you...”

Yue Zhonglian was extremely excited in his expression; not that he feared death, but his heart was filled with too many unfinished wishes.

Moreover, his sons were hardly able to take on heavy responsibilities and were incapable of supporting such a huge object as the Cangqiong Sect.

”Sect Master, please refrain from speaking and from worrying about any affairs for the time being. Rest well for a day, and I will come to give you the acupuncture tomorrow.”

Ling Feng took a deep breath, bowed to Yue Zhonglian, and said, ”This junior takes his leave.”

...

On the first floor of the waterside pavilion.

Sect Master’s Wife Red Lotus, Yue Yunlan, Elder Wen, Elder Liu, and other high-ranking figures of the sect were all gathered in the hall, silently awaiting the outcome.

In addition, there were two young men in their early twenties with handsome appearances and spirited expressions also waiting in the hall.

These two were Yue Zhonglian’s eldest and third son, Yue Chengjie and Yue Tianqun.

Since Yue Zhonglian had fallen ill with a strange disease, the affairs within the Cangqiong Sect had mostly been managed by these two. The two brothers were usually busy fighting for power and lacked the time to attend to their father’s illness.

However, today was a critical moment for Yue Zhonglian, so everyone rushed over except for the second son, Yue Tengfeng, who couldn’t come back from his duty as General Zhen Yuan at the border.

Red Lotus held a string of prayer beads in her hands, constantly praying silently for the Sect Master.

Yue Yunlan’s hand tightly gripped Qiaoqiao’s arm as she was too tense, turning Qiaoqiao’s small face pale from the forceful grip.

Just as Qiaoqiao was hesitating whether or not to ask her mistress to let her arm go, a figure finally emerged from the staircase.

”Swish!”

Yue Yunlan immediately rushed out like the wind, anxiously asking, ”How is it?”

Ling Feng, when he saw Yue Yunlan, did not show much surprise, and he simply nodded and calmly said, ”The Sect Master’s life is no longer in danger.”

”Sigh...”

Relieved by Ling Feng’s words, Yue Yunlan grabbed his hands with hers, emotionally saying, ”That’s wonderful, truly wonderful...!”

The Sect Master’s Wife was also overjoyed and in tears, ”Thank heavens, thank heavens, it’s truly wonderful!”

”This young man, hahaha, I really didn’t misjudge you!”

Wen Tingguang laughed heartily, his heart which had been somewhat anxious finally settling down.

Yue Chengjie and Yue Tianqun, upon hearing the news, felt somewhat conflicted internally.

Power and status had somewhat blinded them, but they were not so callous as to wish for their father’s death.

Knowing that their father could be cured, they had to temporarily curb their own ambitions.

Ling Feng was taken aback when Yue Yunlan suddenly grabbed him, his face becoming awkward as he coughed and said, ”Miss Yue, you...”

”Ah!”

Yue Yunlan then realized her gaffe, quickly letting go of Ling Feng, stepping back a few paces, and shyly covering her face as she passed by him, embarrassedly saying, ”I...I’ll go up to see my father first!”

With that, she dashed up the stairs as if fleeing.
