Wizard: I Add Points and Hunt Monsters

’What a massive boost!’

The Death God Origin Rune truly hadn’t disappointed him. The effects of the three Fusion Spells had all received astonishing boosts.

Especially the Heart of Flesh and Blood.

The Magic’s original effect was just a 5% bonus to his resilience level as his Spirit level increased.

Now, not only had the bonus doubled, but it also came with an additional 10% passive increase, directly raising his resilience level from 66 to 78.2.

’If I had known, I would have imprinted the Flesh Rune last. I missed out on 0.4 resilience for nothing...’

The second surprise for Wei’en was the Corpse Explosion Skill. Not only did it have the Death attribute appended, but its explosion damage could also stack.

It was just like the panel’s evaluation said—”Do you want to see a grand fireworks display?”

If he had learned this Magic at Ceres Manor this afternoon, those people wouldn’t have even lasted a minute. It would have been a testament to their strength if they could have survived for 30 seconds.

Because of this, however, Wei’en grew a bit more cautious about using this Magic.

The damage from Corpse Explosion didn’t distinguish between friend and foe. If he were to use this Magic on the battlefield, the damage to his allies would likely be significant as well.

Yes, and it would be double damage—both physical and mental.

Finally, the Blink Spell’s added effect, which created a phantom clone capable of casting Charm Spell, would greatly increase his success rate when fleeing. It was also very practical.

As for Heart of Elements and Undead Frenzy Skill—the difference between them was clear from the survival points needed to upgrade them on the panel.

Heart of Flesh and Blood required 100 points to upgrade, Corpse Explosion Skill needed 40, Blink needed 30, and both Heart of Elements and Undead Frenzy Skill only required 5 points each.

’The difference in effect between Magic with and without an Origin Rune’s boost is just too great.’

From this, Wei’en could also see that the Death God Origin Rune’s boosts were filled with randomness.

The effects after being boosted by the runes varied. The powerful ones, like Heart of Flesh and Blood, could significantly increase his power.

The weaker ones, like Mechanical Box, could still greatly enhance his combat prowess.

And the Corpse Explosion Skill, slightly inferior to Mechanical Box, compensated for his lack of damage against multiple enemies.

As for the Blink Spell, it only improved the Magic’s utility, making its supportive effects more comprehensive.

However, after reaching this conclusion, Wei’en had a clear path forward for choosing which Magic Rune patterns to learn in the future—he would prioritize Magic with a high affinity for the Death God Origin Rune.

Only by doing this could his power take a quantum leap forward.

As expected of a rune bearing the name of a god, its effects were just that powerful!

Once his Spiritual Power recovered, Wei’en began to upgrade his Magic levels.

Except for Heart of Flesh and Blood—its passive effect was too powerful, directly granting a resilience enhancement based on a percentage of his current Spirit level. It was definitely best to wait until his Spirit level was much higher before putting more points into it.

Besides, Wei’en didn’t plan on undergoing any flesh-and-blood modifications. Without the mandatory requirement for base attributes, he was fine with his resilience increasing slowly.

He first raised Soul-Devouring Magic, Undead Summoning Spell, Heart of Elements, and Undead Frenzy Skill all to Level 3, then also raised Blink (Death God) and Corpse Explosion Skill (Death God) to Level 2.

Among them, only the Undead Summoning Spell gained an additional effect: one extra summoning slot for an Undead Creature.

However, according to the notes on advancing to an Official Mage that the school had just sent, it was best for an apprentice to only summon a single Undead Creature during their apprenticeship.

The reason being—each additional Undead Creature summoned would double the Spiritual Power consumption.

Therefore, Wei’en decided not to use this summoning slot for the time being, and would reconsider it after he advanced to an Official Mage.

Upgrading the Magic cost a total of 280 survival points, leaving him with only 119.

’There’s still the Gonzalez language...’

Wei’en looked at the skill list on the panel, hesitated for a moment, but still chose not to put points into the Gonzalez language.

Although upgrading the Gonzalez language from proficient to expert would grant him an additional specialty, in terms of making money, potion-making had a higher priority.

He’d figure out a way to upgrade it later when he encountered some Gonzalez text he couldn’t translate.

With that, all the point allocations were complete.

’It’s great that my power has increased, but getting such a big boost all at once is also exhausting.’

Wei’en rubbed his forehead. The vast amount of rune knowledge, combined with the consumption of Spiritual Power, left him feeling exceptionally weary.

He glanced at the neatly arranged Magic Potion formulas and crafting materials, as well as the newly added tools for making Mechanical Puppets across from them. ’Looks like I’ll have to wait for another time to grace you all with my presence.’

Following that, Wei’en put the Sheepskin Scrolls and high-value materials into his Space Ring to carry with him, before activating the ”typewriter” to start uploading today’s intelligence.

”New Calendar, August 13, 1578. Respected...”

This time, Wei’en didn’t choose to report on the Ceres Clan case, nor did he reveal the information about the recent battle between Clelia of the Eternal Life Association and a mysterious figure.

He only passed on the news that the Dawn Church and the Secret Investigation Department would be holding a welcoming ceremony tomorrow.

’The Liaison Officer probably won’t be interested in this kind of intel.’

CLINK.

Wei’en opened the blue and white box and took a look, then froze. ”One, two, three... three gold pounds??”

He checked again carefully, confirming that no letter had come with it. He stared at the blue and white box, bewildered. ’How could this be?’

’This nearly public information is worth three gold pounds?’

’Is it because this intel concerns the Dawn Church, or is it because of the Secret Investigation Department?’

Moreover, for intel of this value, there were no follow-up mission assignments. This was completely out of character for his arrogant Liaison Officer.

Completely baffled, Wei’en took out the gold pounds and put away the pocket watch toolbox. ”Could it be that today is just one of those few days she’s in a good mood? I don’t get it, I just don’t get it.”

As his voice fell, his figure appeared in the attic bedroom.

He left behind a lifelike phantom clone in the workshop, which calmly looked around and whispered, ”Mens, Di.” (Charm.)

...

...

What Wei’en didn’t know was that at this very moment, his Liaison Officer in the Klande Phantoms’ Intelligence Department, Olivia Tapia, wore a similarly bewildered expression.

”How could this be?”

”He’s just some trash Intelligence Officer who only knows how to exploit loopholes in the Intelligence Department. How could he possibly be that kind of genius Wizard?”

”In just one week, he went from a normal person to an Advanced Wizard Apprentice—that’s not very ’Phantom-like’ at all!!”

”It took me half a year to advance to intermediate, and another year to become advanced, and now you’re telling me someone did it in just seven days—no, just six days...”

Olivia had lost all her usual elegance and nobility. With one hand, she continuously checked the mission details on the Sheepskin Scroll from the apprentice management office, while the other hand frantically tore at her hair.

”Even Gram, hailed as the most talented in nearly a century, took seven months...”

”No, I don’t believe it. I refuse to believe it!!”

But despite her thoughts, Olivia couldn’t help but take the name Wei’en Loft seriously.

Therefore, after seeing the new intelligence Wei’en had sent over, she hesitated for a moment and chose not to skimp on his payment this time...

”Hmph, if I find out you’re really a Mutated Mage, or a mutation, I’ll make sure you die a horrible death!”

It just goes to show, getting a proud person to admit that someone else is better than them is an extremely difficult thing...
