Wizard: I Add Points and Hunt Monsters

Chapter 79: Chapter 71: Sister Kali is Coming to the Secret Investigation Department?

Wei’en checked his panel. Below the Companion Contract and above the Skill Bar, a new section had appeared—Feats.

It only contained a single feat, *Ballistic Control*, with the description: ”The ability to modify or control the trajectory of a firearm’s bullets.”

In addition to the feat, he had also received a fair amount of basic rewards.

His Spirit Level had reached 57.84, his Tenacity Level was 43, and he had 134 Survival Points remaining.

’Should I upgrade my other abilities?’

Wei’en looked at the panel, thought it over, and decided to save his points for now.

After upgrading his Meditation Technique, he should gain another Source Manifestation, but he currently didn’t have the energy or gold pounds to study a third magic system.

As for his other skills, the ones he could upgrade didn’t need it at the moment, and for the ones he wanted to upgrade, he didn’t have enough Survival Points.

The Mechanical Box (Death God) and Gunnery—one required 500 Survival Points, and the other needed even more, a full 1,000.

’I’ll just have to wait until I acquire new abilities, or upgrade them based on my needs later on...’

Wei’en closed the panel and patted his rumbling stomach. He hurried out of the workshop, returned to his attic bedroom, and ate a whole pound of black bread.

’If I keep getting stronger like this, my appetite is going to get bigger and bigger...’

Wei’en was certainly happy about his growing strength, but he didn’t have enough money.

Especially when they had lunch the past two days. When Lisi and Marco were paying the bill, they both stared strangely at his stomach.

He’d vaguely overheard comments like, ”His stomach doesn’t look any bigger. How can he eat so much?”

Wei’en glanced at Miss Zombie, who was squatting in the corner and gazing out the window, and thought with no small amount of envy: ’It would be great if I didn’t have to eat, just like her...’

’Undead transformation?’

He recalled seeing it in the apprentice’s handbook. Many Undead Wizards in the school had transformed themselves into Undead Creatures...

’Maybe they also chose that path because they couldn’t afford to eat.’

Wei’en sighed. ”Ah, I still need to make money.”

He then opened his pocket watch toolbox, took out the ”typewriter” essential for an Intelligence Officer, and began to transmit today’s intelligence.

Every little bit helps...

”New Calendar, August 12th, 1578. Weather: clear.”

”Respected Liaison Officer, this morning, Clelia ’Thousand Faces’ of the Eternal Life Association appeared in the city-state’s core district and killed...”

”...Afterward, the City-State City Guard, the Secret Investigation Department, and the Holy Professionals of the Dawn Church joined forces to defeat and drive Clelia away...”

”...Due to the significant distance, the reason for Clelia’s attack on these civilians could not be ascertained...”

”—Caster Intelligence Officer, Wei’en Loft.”

Although Wei’en was reluctant to cooperate with the Liaison Officer’s tasks, the only major event he could report today was Clelia’s appearance in the Dumitru District, where she attacked and killed several civilians.

As the intelligence was transmitted, he once again didn’t have to wait long.

Soon, the blue and white box began to jingle.

Wei’en took out the money inside and counted it. ”This is all I get??”

He thought that for such valuable intelligence, he would get at least 1 to 2 gold pounds in reward. He never expected to receive only 15 shillings...

’I wonder how the Liaison Officer judges the value of intelligence?’

Wei’en calculated his finances. He now had just over 1 gold pound left, which was only enough to cover his daily expenses.

On top of that, he needed to buy Magic knowledge, materials and tools for making Magic Potions and Mechanical Puppets, and he still owed Marco 2 gold pounds...

’Poor.’

’F*cking ”POOR” in all caps...’

It seemed that even if he sold those Magic Potions, it wouldn’t change his dire financial situation anytime soon.

At this thought, a frustrated Wei’en packed away his toolbox and lay back down on his bed to rest.

Having not slept the entire previous night, he felt a bit tired. It wasn’t physical exhaustion, but rather a mental one; the excitement from his power-up had worn off.

Furthermore, acquiring such a massive amount of knowledge related to gunnery also made him feel a certain heaviness.

It was as if a foreign object was pressing down on his soul, an extremely awkward feeling.

Before long, he fell into a deep sleep.

”Rexi.”

”Apu.”

After he fell asleep, the ghost and the driver exchanged a glance and quietly raised their voices a bit, relieving the frustration of not being able to speak for so long.

Miss Zombie in the corner, as if she hadn’t seen them, continued to gaze quietly out the window, looking just like a well-mannered noble lady...

[Congratulations, you have survived another day. Evaluation: Fate always favors the diligent and hardworking. Congratulations on growing into a strong weakling. Reward: Survival Points +3.]

...

...

The next day, Wei’en didn’t awaken from his deep sleep until the sun had risen and the bells of Krimms Cathedral had rung for the fourth time.

”Good morning, Ghost, Driver, and Miss Shawa.”

The ghost and the driver said in unison, ”Good morning, Baba.”

”Good morning, Mr. Wizard.” Shawa looked at Wei’en and stiffly performed an extremely awkward noble’s curtsy.

Wei’en watched her movement with a strange expression, feeling that Miss Zombie’s body was simply not up to the complexities of a noble’s curtsy.

If her stiff head were to turn a few more degrees, she’d probably be able to see her own back.

After a moment’s thought, Wei’en decided against persuading her to stop making such gestures in the future.

’She’s already one of the Undead Creatures. Surely she can’t kill herself just by making a few movements...’

”It’s almost ten?”

Wei’en glanced at the mantel clock, quickly got up, washed up, changed his clothes, and hastily ate a few bites of breakfast. ”Shawa, I’ll have to trouble you to look after the house today.”

Without waiting for Miss Zombie to reply, he picked up his case and walked out.

”...Okay.”

Shawa stared with her pale eyes, looking at the things placed around the room.

After a long while, she took a few stiff steps, found a broom, and began to tidy up the room...

”Good morning, Uncle Yuan.”

Wei’en locked his door just as he saw Yuan seeing a white-haired old man out. He gave a greeting and was about to leave.

”Wait, Wei’en.”

”Hm?”

Yuan waved for him to wait a moment, then turned to the old man and said apologetically, ”Thank you for coming. I fully respect Kali’s choice.”

”You don’t have to be so polite. It’s what I should do as Kali’s teacher.”

The old man had a kind face and wore a white robe, looking like an ordinary believer of the Dawn Church.

”Mr. Yuan, I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll be leaving now.”

After saying this, he also nodded to Wei’en before turning and walking toward the core district.

After the man left, Wei’en asked quizzically, ”What was that about, Uncle Yuan? Who was that just now?”

’Kali’s teacher? Was that the Bishop?’

”Shh,”

Yuan raised a finger to his lips and leaned in cautiously. ”Andrews Herzog, the Dawn Church’s Bishop in Caster. A very important person.”

’Just as I thought.’

A chill went down Wei’en’s spine. That was indeed a very important person.

”What was he here for?”

”That’s what I wanted to talk to you about,”

Yuan sighed and said, ”Since you already know about Kali’s identity, I won’t hide it from you. His Eminence wants to arrange for Kali to study at the Secret Investigation Department for a while.”

”Huh? What? Sister Kali is coming to the Secret Investigation Department?”
