The Sea Queen of 1985

Chapter 195: Chapter 195: You Guys Continue Kissing

Han Xiaorui thought for a moment, then her gaze fell upon Ye Feng, who was sitting beside her reading a book.

Ye Feng’s senses were sharp. Feeling Han Xiaorui’s stare, he lifted his head slightly and asked with a soft chuckle, ”Have a question?”

Han Xiaorui twirled her pen as she thought. ”I don’t know how to set the prices. Could you help me find out about the retail and wholesale prices for ornamental fish abroad?”

”Especially the wholesale price. If my fish are more expensive than what they can get them for, there’s no appeal, and they won’t buy from me at all.”

”But if I quote a price that’s too low, my profit margin will be small, and there’s no point in doing this business. I can’t just be busy for nothing.”

Ye Feng smiled. ”Ah, so it’s about that. I already spoke to my aunt about it last night!”

”She’s already agreed to use her connections to find out the wholesale prices, sea freight costs, and other expenses for you as soon as possible.”

Hearing this, Han Xiaorui’s eyes lit up. She reached out with her slender, elegant hand and patted Ye Feng’s.

”Thank you, Mr. Ye! And thank you to Miss Xu, too!”

Ye Feng tilted his head with a smile, set down his book, and smoothly took Han Xiaorui’s hand in his. ”Just a verbal thank you? No actions to back it up?”

Han Xiaorui felt a little shy as Ye Feng held her hand. ”I got a lot of scallop pearls and Tridacna Pearls. I’m planning to find a jeweler to make them into accessories. I’ll give some to Miss Xu then!”

”That’s for my aunt! What about me?” Ye Feng grinned. ”How are you going to thank me?”

Han Xiaorui’s large eyes darted about, lively and beautiful. Looking at Ye Feng’s handsome and refined face, she suddenly found the allure of a good-looking man quite tempting.

Han Xiaorui slowly leaned closer to Ye Feng.

Ye Feng’s heart pounded with excitement, his eyes fixed on Han Xiaorui’s soft, rosy lips.

He unconsciously leaned closer to Han Xiaorui as well, their faces drawing nearer and nearer.

Just as their lips were about to touch, Pingping and An’an burst in from outside. ”Mommy...”

The romantic atmosphere vanished in an instant with their cries of ”Mommy.”

A flicker of disappointment crossed Ye Feng’s eyes, but he quickly composed himself, turning to look at the cheerfully shouting Pingping and An’an with a gentle expression.

He liked Han Xiaorui, and he liked Pingping and An’an, too.

From the moment he decided to pursue a relationship with Han Xiaorui with marriage in mind, he had started telling himself something.

Pingping and An’an would one day be his daughters, too.

If he couldn’t accept these two children, he was certain Han Xiaorui would break up with him without a second thought, compose herself, and start looking again.

In his mind, that was just the kind of person Han Xiaorui was—cheerful, generous, daring to love and hate freely.

Han Xiaorui stood up as well. ”What is it, my sweethearts?”

Pingping’s eyes were full of joy as she held out her little hand. ”Teacher’s reward!”

Han Xiaorui’s gaze fell on the back of Pingping’s hand, where a small red flower was stamped. ”That’s wonderful, Pingping!”

An’an quickly held out her own little hand. ”Mommy, I got one too!”

Han Xiaorui put on a surprised expression. ”An’an, that’s amazing! What did you do today for the teacher to praise you with little red flowers?”

Pingping answered, ”I was first in running!”

An’an replied, ”Mommy, I was first in somersaults.”

Although their answers were only a few words long, they accurately conveyed their thoughts.

Sometimes, however, their thoughts were very scattered. They would give irrelevant answers, get lost in their own worlds, or let their minds wander.

In short, they had all the usual faults of young children, as well as various other issues that typical children didn’t.

But their situation had greatly improved, which was why Han Xiaorui insisted on them attending intervention classes.

Ye Feng smiled and, as if by magic, produced a box of Maltesers.

”Thank you, Uncle Ye!” Pingping took the box and pulled her sister’s hand. ”Mommy, Uncle Ye, you can go back to kissing! We’re leaving!”

That one sentence immediately made Ye Feng and Han Xiaorui blush.

They had assumed the children were too young to know what they were doing or to express it.

But it seemed that was not the case.

They knew that two people leaning close meant they wanted to ”kiss-kiss,” not in the adult sense of a romantic kiss, but as an affectionate gesture between people who are close.

Han Xiaoqing, who was standing behind them, couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing.

But seeing her sister and Brother Ye looking shy and blushing, she quickly stifled her laughter.

”Sis, I’ll take Pingping and An’an to see the little animals!” Han Xiaoqing took one niece in each hand and led them to the backyard.

Han Xiaorui and Ye Feng looked at each other, seeing the shy affection in one another’s eyes.

Although they hadn’t managed to kiss, their feelings resonated in that moment, making it even sweeter.

”Xiao Rui, Pingping and An’an will be fine. I’ll definitely be a good father in the future and become someone they can rely on,” Ye Feng said with a smile, making a promise to Han Xiaorui.

He was twenty-seven this year, and Pingping and An’an were three and a half.

When the girls turned twenty-five, he would only be forty-nine—not even fifty yet!

With his skills, if their future husbands didn’t treat them well, he’d be able to smash their damn heads in.

Han Xiaorui would never have guessed that Ye Feng was already thinking about Pingping and An’an growing up, getting married, and him having their backs.

”You’ll be a great father one day,” Han Xiaorui praised. Ye Feng was a very traditional man.

Upright and kind.

Although he seemed a bit cold on the outside, once you got to know him, you realized he was very gentle.

Ye Feng was still recovering and couldn’t jump around with the children, but he could read them stories.

It wasn’t until after dinner, when his driver came to pick him up, that Ye Feng reluctantly left.

Han Xiaorui didn’t even have time to feel reluctant before she got a call from Wu Cuicui.

Because it wasn’t convenient for Yang Jianguo to come over and Wu Cuicui had a young child at home, she could only call Han Xiaorui and ask her to go there.

”Xiao Rui, was the client satisfied with our ornamental fish?” Yang Jianguo was completely gung-ho about exporting the fish, even more so than Han Xiaorui.

Han Xiaorui nodded and replied with a smile, ”Brother Jianguo, Uncle Xu came to see them and took a lot of pictures. His son should be here soon. I’m currently asking around about pricing. I’m trying to get a competitive price while still maintaining a high profit margin. How’s the spot at the exhibition? How did the decorating go today?”

Yang Jianguo, having downed half a bottle of beer, felt refreshed and was in an even better mood. ”Uncle Chen is really a leader at a major foreign trade company. The booth space is huge. We’ve set aside an area three meters long and two meters wide.”

”There are tables inside, but the lighting isn’t great. Our ornamental fish are brightly colored, and they look much better with good lighting. I had someone install a few small lamps for us today. The light is good, and the effect is much better.”

”I also ran into Zhou Wei. His booth is smaller than ours, only two-by-two, and the location isn’t as good. He came to see our spot and immediately said to leave the fish tanks to him. He’s having someone work overnight to make suitable tanks, and they can be delivered the day after tomorrow.”

”When the time comes, we’ll bring the fish over. The booth has three walls, which is perfect for displaying our three main categories: saltwater ornamental fish, freshwater ornamental fish, and cold-water fish.”

Seeing that Yang Jianguo had arranged everything so well, Han Xiaorui nodded. ”Brother Jianguo, I’ll leave setting up the booth and managing the exhibition to you. I have to go out to sea tomorrow, but I’ll try my best to get back. If I can’t make it, you’ll have to take charge.”

Exporting ornamental fish was profitable, but it couldn’t compare to her trips out to sea.

She was, after all, a woman destined to become queen of the seas. The ocean was her vast domain to conquer; everything else was a side business that had to make way for her fishing expeditions.

She couldn’t wait to get back on the water. Perhaps even more surprises awaited her.
