How Could the Villainous Young Master Be a Saintess?

“Margaret, are you all right?” Vinny stepped forward, patted Margaret on the shoulder, and asked with a frown.

However, even after that, Margaret had no reaction at all.

Because her head was lowered and her body was swaying, Vinny could not see her expression or eyes at this moment.

“Margaret? What’s wrong?” Vinny realized Margaret’s condition was not right, so he added a bit more force.

“Eh? Eh??”

After being patted a few times, Margaret was finally awakened. She raised her head in confusion and looked left and right. The hazy, blurred double images before her eyes gradually overlapped, and the spinning, swaying world also stopped shaking.

The cherry-haired girl’s starry eyes were filled with doubt, as though she still did not understand why she had appeared here.

“Margaret?”

“Eh? Eh?? Upperclassman Vinny?”

Only after hearing Vinny’s voice did Margaret barely come back to herself. She looked at Vinny in great surprise.

“Why are you here?”

“That’s what I wanted to ask you.” Vinny looked at Margaret with a strange expression. “What were you doing just now? Did you sleep badly last night? You were swaying around while walking and standing there like you’d been possessed.”

“Me?”

“You were leaving class and getting ready to go back to your dorm?” Vinny raised an eyebrow.

“Leaving class, going back to my dorm? Ah, I think so. I was going to go back to my dorm earlier.” Margaret recalled.

“Then what were you doing just now?”

“Just now? What happened just now?” Margaret seemed to be murmuring to herself. She rubbed her forehead, her spirit somewhat wilted. “Just now? Upperclassman, I don’t remember what happened just now.”

“How did I get here?”

Margaret stared blankly at her surroundings.

“Are you really all right?” Vinny said with a strange expression.

“I—”

Margaret was just about to answer when a sudden stabbing pain shot through her mind. It hurt so much that she clutched her head, her consciousness going blank.

“What’s wrong?” Vinny frowned. “Do you need me to take you to a priest?”

Only after saying this did Vinny feel that his own words were rather funny. The person before him was nominally the Dawn Saintess. If she was unwell and he took her to a priest, what kind of priest would it take to cure her illness??

“No, I-I’m fine now.” Margaret shook her head, but she was still holding her head. From the look of it, her condition was not truly fine.

“You said you don’t remember what happened earlier?” Vinny asked with a frown.

“Earlier... I remember I was packing my book bag, then saying goodbye to my friends.” Margaret’s breathing sounded somewhat heavy.

“And then?”

“And then, then I...” Margaret held her head, seemingly unable to recall exactly what had happened before.

“All right, you don’t need to think about it. Did you not sleep well last night?” Although Vinny felt that she did not look like someone who had merely failed to sleep well.

“Mm. Recently, I haven’t been resting very well.”

“You have insomnia?” Vinny asked in surprise.

“Mm. I don’t know why either, but my sleep quality has been very poor lately,” Margaret sighed softly.

“Is it because of study pressure? Did something happen recently?” Vinny had been wondering why Margaret had not come to the card-player-soul club these past two days.

But even if study pressure was heavy, it should not be enough to make her unable to sleep, right? They were only first-years. Was there really that much study pressure in first year?

“I seem...” Margaret seemed to sense something and glanced up at the sky, then fell silent again.

“Margaret?”

Vinny had been waiting for Margaret to continue, only to suddenly see her stop speaking again. He called her name strangely.

Margaret did not respond. She merely stared blankly at the sky, silent, her eyes vacant.

This unique feeling seemed somehow familiar, like something from a certain time in the past, but she could not remember when it had been.

It seemed like...

“Margaret. Margaret?”

Vinny called out to her twice, but she had no reaction at all.

No, what was going on? Was there something strange in the sky?

Vinny glanced up at the sky.

There was nothing unusual at all.

What was wrong with this little girl?

“Ah, sorry. I didn’t mean not to answer you, Upperclassman Vinny. I’m sorry. I’m probably just too tired.” Margaret apologized.

“Have you been low on energy lately?” Vinny observed Margaret’s complexion. The weariness on her face was not very obvious, but if he looked carefully, he could still see it. “Try using holy light to heal yourself?”

“Holy light?”

Margaret tilted her head, and the dazed look on her face completely faded.

“Ah, right, I remember now. Thank you for reminding me, Upperclassman Vinny. I still need to go to the Academy church.”

“Go to the Academy church? What are you going there for?” Vinny was puzzled.

“To complete the homework Upperclassman Vinny gave me?” Margaret blinked a few times.

“Huh? Homework? From me? What homework?”

“Didn’t Upperclassman Vinny tell me to find love and bonds? So lately, every day after class, I’ve been going to the Academy church to help injured students and upperclassmen. That way, I can also lighten the burden on the priest and the nuns,” Margaret said.

After hearing that, Vinny said nothing.

“Is there anything wrong with doing that?” Margaret looked carefully at Vinny.

“No. You’re doing the right thing.” Vinny nodded and encouraged her. “Keep it up.”

“Mm-hmm! Thank you for your encouragement, Upperclassman Vinny. I haven’t gone to the club during this period. I haven’t caused trouble for Upperclassman Vinny and the upperclassmen, have I?”

“No. Our club is pretty relaxed about that. It’s not like clocking in at work. Come whenever you want, as long as it’s not to the point where we don’t see you once in an entire semester,” Vinny said.

In any case, no card player would care. At most, they would sigh a few times that they could no longer see a pleasing little junior student.

“Since you’re fine, I’ll go first. I won’t hold you up.”

Vinny greeted Margaret and left.

“Mm-hmm. Goodbye, Upperclassman Vinny.”

Vinny turned back and glanced at Margaret, confirming that she no longer had any problems walking, or at least that she looked like she had returned to normal. Only then did he leave in peace.

When he returned to the dorm and saw Shicodale cooking, he put his bag back in his room, then returned to the living room to wait for dinner.

“Vinny, are you going to find Aesphyra to train again today?”

“No. Not today. It’s the weekend.”

The moment Vinny touched the sofa, his whole body collapsed onto it like he had no bones. Even with training, it had to be done step by step. The intensity could not be too high, or his body would not be able to take it, and that would affect his performance in the tournament.

Besides, he still had to change Isatia’s medicine the day after tomorrow.

“Speaking of which, Vinny, they said the double-moon celestial phenomenon will be visible tonight.”

Before long, Shicodale finished making dinner and said this to Vinny at the table.

“Oh? Is that so?” Vinny held his knife and fork and glanced out the window. It was not completely dark yet, so he saw nothing.

“Vinny, are you going to watch it?”

“Me? Depends. I’m a little tired. After dinner, I’ll sleep for a bit first. We’ll talk after that.” Vinny yawned.

After finishing dinner, Vinny moved around a little, then lay down on the sofa.

Strictly speaking, one could not lie down immediately after eating, but although Vinny had not trained today, he was extremely tired.

He collapsed on the sofa, picked up a casual book, and started reading. As he read, the book fell onto his face, and he fell asleep.

“Vinny. Vinny?”

No one knew how much time passed. In a daze, Vinny heard Shicodale calling him.

“Mm... mm? What is it?”

Vinny, who had been woken from his sleep, responded blearily. He knew that if there were no reason, Shicodale would not wake him while he was sleeping.

“Vinny, just now, someone I didn’t know came and knocked on the door. After I opened it, he said he was here to return something to you. You left this in the card room last time. They found it while cleaning, so they came to return it to you.”

“Card room??”

The moment Vinny heard that, his sleepiness vanished. He sprang up like a carp flipping upright.

“Let me see. What is it?”

“This.”

Shicodale handed a card box to Vinny.

“Judging by how that person was dressed, he seemed to be a server from the card room.”

“All right. I understand.”

Vinny took the card box from Shicodale and casually placed it on the table, then got up and walked toward the door.

He knew this was Luna’s signal for contacting him.

“Vinny, are you going out?”

“Mm. Going out for a walk. I slept right after dinner, so now I feel a little nauseous,” Vinny said.

“Oh. All right.” Shicodale nodded.

Vinny went out and headed all the way to the card room. On the road, he lifted his eyes and looked up.

There was no extra white adorning the pitch-black curtain above, making that pale-gold celestial body appear especially dazzling.

Tonight’s moon was very large. It seemed much larger than usual, always giving the feeling that it was extremely close to the Tyrelis Continent.

When he arrived at the card room, which looked rather like a small tavern from the outside, the atmosphere was as quiet as ever.

A large portion of this card room was underground, with only a small part above the surface, casually giving people the impression that it was not very large.

After the front desk staff saw him, she came over knowingly to lead the way, bringing him to a room and opening the hidden door to the basement.

“Thank you.”

Vinny nodded to her and entered the basement.

The front desk staff said nothing. After Vinny went inside, she silently closed the hidden door.

Once he reached the lowest level, Vinny unsurprisingly saw Luna sitting on the sofa, as well as Amisha and Fennia.

“Everyone’s here. Luna, you needed me for something?”

Vinny sat down on the sofa.

“Yes, Your Eminence. When you came here, did you see the double moons in the sky?”

“Double moons? I didn’t see them, but I do feel like tonight’s moon is bigger than usual,” Vinny thought for a moment and said.

“In that case, it seems the double-moon celestial phenomenon will still take another day.” Luna crossed her legs and elegantly sipped her coffee.

“What, did you call me here just for this celestial phenomenon?” Vinny asked.

“Yes and no,” Luna said. “Last time, you said you had many doubts about the double-moon celestial °• N 𝑜 v 𝑒 l i g h t •° phenomenon, so I had my family look through the family and Church records to search for materials about it.”

“You found something?” Vinny asked.

“Not exactly. But combined with many ancient records left behind by the Haukekai Family, we discovered many useful clues,” Luna said.

“Oh? Useful clues? Tell me.”

Vinny took a sip of the fruit juice placed before him.

“Do you know when the previous double-moon celestial phenomenon occurred?” Luna asked.

“I know. They said it was more than ten years ago, almost twenty years ago or so.” Vinny thought for a moment. “At that time, I don’t even know if I’d been born yet. Even if I had, I probably wasn’t very old.”

“Yes. As for that double-moon celestial phenomenon, according to the Church records, only the details of the celestial phenomenon at the time were recorded. But according to our family’s private records, there was one point about that double-moon celestial phenomenon that is relatively worth attention.”

“Mm? What point is worth attention?” Vinny was curious.

“When the previous double-moon celestial phenomenon occurred, that is, more than ten years ago, thunder and lightning flashed above the Holy Capital of the Church, with white lightning interweaving. Yet clearly, there was no rain and no dark clouds at the time. Afterward, he also heard a faint sound of glass shattering,” Luna said after thinking for a moment.

“However, these phenomena were not recorded in the Church’s Record of Double-Moon Research. That research record only noted the details of the double-moon celestial phenomenon at the time, the time it appeared, and what differences there were compared to previous double-moon celestial phenomena,” Luna said.

“Eh? Could it be that the Church of the Dawn simply felt those phenomena weren’t worth mentioning, so they chose to ignore that part of the record?” Fennia asked in confusion.

“That possibility may exist, but I don’t think it’s very likely,” Luna analyzed. “Perhaps the Church deliberately did not record that situation.”

“But that anomaly was accidentally witnessed by a member of the Haukekai Family who happened to be on business in the Holy Capital of the Church at the time. After he returned, he clearly wrote down the event.”

“No dark clouds, thunder and lightning, interweaving white lightning, and a faint sound of glass shattering?” Vinny frowned.

“Yes. According to him, this anomaly was very inconspicuous, and the time it appeared was extremely short. If he had not been inside the sanctuary at the center of the Holy Capital, he almost certainly would not have discovered it.”

“Could it have been some kind of supernatural phenomenon?” Seeing that everyone was thinking while only her brain was idle, Fennia felt she had to fit in too. So after pondering for a long while, she reached this conclusion.

“That possibility exists as well. But since it appeared along with the double moons, that proves it may itself contain certain unknown secrets.” Luna’s fine brows furrowed slightly.

“In addition, my family has also made records of many studies regarding the double moons,” Luna continued.

One could only say that there were benefits to having a long family history and deep foundations. Internally, they had always kept records related to such matters.

Human civilization, in the end, was a structure built from the accumulation of inherited knowledge. Families with deep foundations had never suffered an interruption in their inheritance of knowledge, so naturally, they also possessed a unique advantage.

“Combined with the Church’s research, whenever the double moons appear, certain fields across the Tyrelis Continent become unusually powerful. This includes many extremely mysterious things. For example, one of my ancestors once conducted an experiment.”
