Warhammer Divine Throne

”It’s nothing, I’m just arranging matters like how you arranged me back then.” Laine turned around, his expression calm.

The female sorcerer’s face turned pale, and she softly said, ”I’m sorry...”

Teresa knew exactly what Laine was referring to, and it seemed he still harbored resentment over past events.

The relationship between Laine and the Jialan Council had reversed. Previously, as a Kingdom Knight of the Legendary Initial Tier without any foundation, he was the one who needed the Jialan Council. In those circumstances, Elder Aurora, being the stronger side, could easily impose pressure, could send Teresa to Laine knowing his partner was Veronica, could freely change the roster, and could call his partner away right after completing a task.

Now, Laine was no longer the same. There were many wizards willing to serve him and provide magical answers, and if needed, Mogiana would immediately send the Lake God Prophet to reside permanently, with High Elves extending an olive branch.

So he was expressing dissatisfaction, firmly telling Lady Aurora and her daughter that their previous cooperation had ended, and all favors used up — it was time to start anew.

Indeed, as Lady Aurora predicted, Laine’s goodwill towards the mother and daughter had been exhausted by Teresa’s poor performance, leaving the female sorcerer with a piercing heartache.

I messed everything up, now I want to fix it.

”It’s okay, it’s a great improvement that you’re willing to apologize, dear Teresa.” Upon hearing the female sorcerer’s apology, Laine nodded, indicating his acceptance, which dissolved the slight sense of estrangement. Finally, a sincere smile appeared on the Baron’s face: ”I accept your apology, welcome to Baron Gene’s Domain, my territory.”

”Thank you.” The female sorcerer forced a smile: ”I know I’ve done many bad things before, but I won’t anymore, believe me, Laine.”

”Hmm.”

Teresa Trovik and Veronica were indeed very different. Compared to Veronica, who had little property and could only bring her books, clothes, magic scrolls, and a large bed, Teresa’s belongings could be considered luxurious.

Besides her massive private property, the Jialan Female Member also brought the latest crop seeds developed by the Life Church and a letter from Laine’s adoptive father, Norman, Lord of Autene Territory.

The letter from his adoptive father informed Laine that he was well, and Norman mentioned his plan to retire in a few years and hand over the lordship to Laine’s cousin, Norman’s nephew. Laine’s accomplishments were well-known even in Nord, making Norman proud, though he also expressed his disappointment in Laine’s embrace of the Lake Fairy, declaring that Yurik was the rightful object of belief.

”I went to Autene to visit your parents.” Teresa took out some small gifts: ”They sent me many things.”

”How are Father and Mother doing?” Laine toyed with a small cloth doll made by his mother, recalling childhood memories, a slight smile appearing as he reminisced the past.

”They’re all doing well.” Teresa said uneasily: ”I visited them with Sister Dietlinde, she checked their health and made potions.”

”This must be Lady Aurora’s idea, right?” Laine carefully put away the items: ”Regardless, thank you all.”

”No, this is what we should do.” Teresa quickly shook her head.

After discussing these matters, the atmosphere became a bit awkward, as the female sorcerer and the Baron seemed to have no topics to discuss.

”By the way, Laine, I saw two Wizard Towers being constructed near your castle...” Teresa was attempting to start a new topic when a sweet voice came from the door of the reception room: ”Oh, who is this? How has Princess Jialan humbled herself to come to this small domain?”

Wearing a blue gown and white high heels, Veronica walked in from the reception room entrance, her sweet face adorned with an exaggerated smile: ”Lady Trovik? Are you unclear about the first come, first served rule? Do you need me to teach you?”

”Veronica!” Teresa stood up, the female sorcerer’s silver eyes filled with anger: ”I don’t want to argue with you!”

”But I do want to argue! Because our Princess Jialan seems to have never understood some simple truths!” Veronica, with her brunette hair tied with many white ribbons and a bow at her ear, stared at Teresa with an angry gaze: ”Should I call you ignorant or shameless? You actually dared to chase here? You really disgust me, Trovik.”

”Who do you think you’re talking to? Veronica! Laine also sent me a letter!” Teresa stood up as well, the female sorcerer infuriated by the witch, extending her hand to point at Veronica: ”Enough with the nonsense, let’s settle this!”

Indeed, the meeting of two witches was like Mars colliding with Earth, with needle-sharp confrontation. Seeing Veronica so agitated, Laine felt helpless, wanting to mediate meanwhile, Veronica grabbed his hand: ”Go out, dear, this is between Trovik and me!”

”But...” ”There’s no ’but,’ go out, I promise you we won’t collapse your castle!”

”Yes, Laine, give us some space, Veronica and I need to settle this.” Teresa also raised her Magic Staff, the female sorcerer glaring fiercely at the aggressive Jialan Witch: ”This has nothing to do with you.”

Laine had no choice but to leave. As soon as he closed the door, he heard many inappropriate words starting with ’F’ and various unheard-of insults, then soon things escalated to...

The baron sighed and walked towards the lower floor.

”Master, what’s happening downstairs? I feel the floor shaking.” A Dark Elf was pushing a dining cart past and stopped upon seeing Laine.

”Two witches have some old grievances to resolve,” Laine shrugged. The longstanding enmity between Teresa and Veronica had visibly intensified because of him.

”Two witches? The new witch is the Miss Teresa you mentioned, Master?” Ollica continued to ask.

”Her arrival is a bit awkward, Ollica; last year I wrote letters to Teresa and Veronica, hoping they could come to my domain to help me build and provide magical advice...” Laine could feel the floor shaking beneath him: ”Assuming Teresa wouldn’t respond nor come, I...”

”You thought she wouldn’t come, Master,” Ollica softly said. ”Miss Teresa’s arrival makes things awkward for you, because there’s deep conflict between her and Lady Veronica, moreover... one witch is enough as a magic consultant.”

”Speaking of which, Ollica, you were originally a Caster too, right?” Laine paused.

”...Yes, Master, I was originally a Caster,” the Dark Elf suddenly smiled: ”At least, the two witch ladies upstairs combined aren’t my match, but I am merely your maid now.”

”Indeed, none of the women at home is simple, you’re all making it hard for me.” Laine followed Ollica into the kitchen, planning to cook himself for Teresa who traveled a long way.

”If Master needs magical solutions, I can provide them too, but Master would need to... share a room with me the night before.” The maid leaned on Laine’s back: ”Human magic is just too simple for elves...”

”We’ll discuss this later.” Laine didn’t respond to the question.

Teresa’s arrival had already given him a headache; he really hadn’t expected the female sorcerer to come at this time, and his domain truly didn’t need a second witch, but Teresa came because of him, and he couldn’t refuse.

When the Baron finished preparing his feast, Teresa emerged from the reception room with a smile: ”Laine, go check on your Miss Veronica. She might need your help.”

”???”
