Warhammer Divine Throne

Entering the castle, Laine caught a whiff of lavender scent.

The baron tilted his head, his face somewhat stiffened as he realized who had come.

Passing through the grand hall on the first floor, following the lavender fragrance, Laine saw a graceful figure looking with great interest at his collection of books in his study. Her waist-length black hair shimmered with a captivating glow.

Hearing the footsteps, the visitor said, ”I always thought your castle... would be much smaller than I imagined, but it’s already more luxurious than many lords’ castles in Nord.”

Finishing her words, she turned around.

Miss Teresa Trovik from the Jialan Council appeared in front of Laine, wearing a butterfly bow Athenian style asymmetrical off-shoulder top, black straight tight pants, the familiar butterfly-patterned glasses, white lace long gloves, and her cold and charming face.

Her brown short boots lightly tapped on the carpet, following the afternoon sunlight, the female sorceress gently fell into the baron’s arms.

”It’s been a year and a half, Laine, how have you been?”

”I thought you wouldn’t come, Teresa.” A year and a half had passed, and the baron was filled with mixed emotions. The last time they met, he was just a Kingdom Knight of Nord.

Now he was a Baron, Divine Chosen Champion, a hero of humanity.

”Some things delayed me, but after handling them, I came to you at once. This is a very beautiful land, prosperous, and lovely. Your choice back then wasn’t wrong, just like mine wasn’t.” The female sorceress saw that Laine had matured a lot, feeling emotional, and she held onto Laine’s neck, whispering.

Laine reached out to embrace the female sorceress briefly, then gently pushed her away: ”I wrote you a letter last year, and then for several months, there were no messages or replies. I thought you wouldn’t come.”

The female sorceress immediately sensed the change in Laine’s attitude. She raised her head, her beautiful phoenix eyes directly meeting Laine’s eyes: ”Am I unwelcome because I’m late?”

”Of course not, dear Teresa, it’s just that some things have changed before you arrived... let’s go to the reception room on the second floor to talk.” Laine gestured for the female sorceress to follow him to the reception hall on the second floor.

The female sorceress, who was proud and sensitive by nature, immediately sensed Laine’s subtle sense of distance. After more than a year, he now exuded authority and intense confidence, and his power had also grown stronger. The Legendary Middle-tier female sorceress could no longer gauge his current level.

Thinking of her mother’s words, Teresa looked at Laine’s back, stomped her foot, and quickly followed.

Ten minutes later.

In the luxurious reception room, carpets from Estalia, paintings from Borelion, exquisite sculptures from Dwarves, and crafts from Wood Elves spoke of the baron’s sincerity to his guests.

But what Teresa felt was a sense of distance. The female sorceress only felt there seemed to be a thick wall separating her from Laine, which was not what she wanted.

The female sorceress sat on the soft sofa, crossed one long leg, and spoke with a slightly dangerous tone: ”Is this the answer you want to give me, Lord Laine? Is this how you welcome your partner?”

”Hahaha!” Laine couldn’t help but laugh, he took out a bottle of red wine: ”Your temper hasn’t changed at all, Teresa, speaking of which, it’s obviously you who are late, yet you speak so justifiably... want some red wine? Winford’s fine wine, it must be quite expensive on your side, right?”

Hearing Laine’s words, Teresa’s pretty face turned red, unable to maintain her mature and cold demeanor: ”That’s because your attitude is terrible! Laine, we weren’t like this before!”

”You barged into my castle, and you have the nerve to say I have a bad attitude? My dear lady.” Laine put the glass goblet in front of Teresa, with a faint smile on his face: ”Careful, I might throw you out!”

”You dare!?” Teresa immediately stood up, realizing that Laine was teasing her after seeing his faint smile. She had no choice but to sit back down: ”You should ask your Miss Bernadotte about that. If it weren’t for her and her mentor, Speaker Margarita, I wouldn’t have been so late to arrive at your territory.”

”Oh? Did something happen?” Laine also poured himself a glass of red wine and sat down opposite Teresa. The baron, dressed in a full set of noble casual clothes, made his inquiry sound more like a routine question to the female sorceress.

He’s completely different now, Teresa thought inwardly, the female sorceress sighed quietly in her heart. What exactly did Laine do in the past year and a half, didn’t the well-informed female member of Jialan know?

After thinking quietly, Teresa decided to abandon her complaints. The female sorceress nonchalantly raised the goblet: ”It’s nothing, it’s just that after I received your letter, Speaker Margarita wouldn’t let me leave the task I was working on, so I had to wait until I completed the task before coming here.”

”I see, Teresa, it must have been tiring to come all this way.” Laine stood up, looking out at the scenery beyond his castle, his territory: ”Do you need some rest? I’ll have the servants prepare a guest room on the third floor.”

”Laine... you.” Teresa felt very frustrated and dejected. The female sorceress didn’t know why, she anxiously stood up, walked to Laine’s back: ”What’s going on? Aren’t we partners? Why does it feel like a conversation between a lord and a witch’s commission?”
