Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1143: Chapter 1144: Antipyretic Medicine

Ye Zhi’s expression was also unpleasant.

She had been here for over twenty days now, and aside from her boss An Jing, she had the closest relationship with the four little ones. Plus, the four little ones were so young, so adorable, that even a stranger would find it unbearable to see them in such a dire state.

”Husband, the fever won’t go down...” An Jing couldn’t even cry anymore, she wiped the children’s foreheads with ice, all the while gazing at Xiao Changyi with heart-wrenching despair.

It was as if she would no longer want to live if anything happened to the four little ones.

Xiao Changyi, at this moment, didn’t have a single solution. Had he one, he would have tried it on his children long ago.

But Ye Zhi suddenly seemed to remember something and quickly stood up. Without saying anything to An Jing or Xiao Changyi, she asked the maidservant to watch over her little charges and dashed out as if she was going to fetch something urgently.

Gong Juechen was sitting at the doorway of the room, right on the doorstep. As soon as he saw Ye Zhi rush out, he wanted to follow: ”Zhizhi, where are you going?”

Ye Zhi turned around with a look that could kill: ”Don’t follow me!”

Without further ado, she continued running forward.

Gong Juechen didn’t understand what Ye Zhi was going to do, but when she told him not to follow, that only made him want to trail her even more. Of course, he did so stealthily.

Since Gong Juechen followed Ye Zhi almost without a sound, she didn’t realize she was being tracked.

Ye Zhi quickly went back to her own courtyard, and the moment she entered her room, she found a small medical kit hidden under her bed. She remembered this kit contained a box of fever medicine.

Once she found the box of fever medicine, Ye Zhi quickly hid the medical kit back under the bed and then hurried back to the main courtyard.

Gong Juechen witnessed all of this, but he didn’t go inside Ye Zhi’s room to inspect the items in the medical kit. Without making a sound, he quickly made his way back. Before Ye Zhi reached the main courtyard, he was already there, sitting again on that step.

When Ye Zhi ran into the main courtyard and saw Gong Juechen sitting on the step, she ignored him and continued running inside.

Upon entering the main bedroom of the main courtyard, Ye Zhi asked all the maidservants inside to leave, and then she quickly locked the door.

Gong Juechen wanted to come in, but she refused and locked him out as well.

Gong Juechen then decided to check the medical kit under Ye Zhi’s bed. Although he inspected it, he didn’t recognize the items inside and found them very strange.

However, it was precisely Ye Zhi’s strangeness that made Gong Juechen more and more interested in her.

Meanwhile, after securing the bedroom door, Ye Zhi quickly approached An Jing and Xiao Changyi and, in a low voice, said to An Jing, ”Boss, this is fever medicine. There’s only one box of it in my medical kit, but it might work for Jing’er and the rest.”

Upon hearing that it was fever medicine, An Jing saw a glimmer of hope, bidding Xiao Changyi and Ye Zhi to dissolve the medicine in water and let the children drink it.

Once the fever medicine took effect, the four little ones began to sweat. An Jing and Ye Zhi were overjoyed, but Xiao Changyi was startled, fearing that the children’s conditions had gotten worse.

Seeing Xiao Changyi’s handsome face turn pale from fright, An Jing hurriedly reassured him, ”Husband, this fever medicine is meant to reduce heat through sweating.”

Ye Zhi also soothed, ”Brother-in-law, the sweating means it’s working. If this continues, Jing’er and the others’ fever will soon go down. You don’t need to worry too much.”
