Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1135: Chapter 1136: Too Underestimated Him

”Chenglin... Chenglin, we are your uncles, why won’t you recognize us?” As he spoke, Han Xinche’s expression turned somewhat sad.

Gong Juechen still smiled with exceptional politeness, ”General Han, I have no idea what you are talking about. It is common for people to look alike, and given the vast number of people in the world, there surely must be others who resemble your elder sister besides me, right? How can you be so certain that the person the maid mentioned is me? Moreover, General Han, I don’t have a birthmark on my lower back.”

Han Xinrui didn’t share Han Xinche’s slight sadness; what he felt was anger, ”Last time, we stripped your clothes and saw you didn’t have a birthmark on your back, so we thought you were not our elder sister’s son. When Ling’er mentioned it, we did not think of you, because we had already seen your back and there was no birthmark on it. However, Ling’er said that the person who looked very much like our elder sister and had a birthmark went to see her with Prince Yi. She had seen Prince Yi when he returned from a great military victory in those years and knew what Prince Yi looked like. And who else could be by Prince Yi’s side, resembling our elder sister but you? You are our elder sister’s son, Su Chenglin!”

Upon hearing this, Gong Juechen finally fully understood why these two were so certain he was Su Chenglin. It turned out that the maid actually knew Xiao Changyi.

”Tell us the truth,” Han Xinche spoke again, ”Did you cover up the birthmark on your back with something? In fact, you’ve always known that we were secretly searching for you, and that’s why you intentionally covered the birthmark, isn’t it?”

Gong Juechen then frankly admitted, ”Yes, I’ve always known you were looking for me, but what of it? I am now Gong Juechen, and Su Chenglin died in that big fire years ago.”

”Don’t you want to seek revenge?” Han Xinche and Han Xinrui couldn’t believe it. ”Your imperial consort mother died a horrible death; you should take revenge on Su Haoyu!”

Gong Juechen said, ”This is just a misunderstanding. And even if it weren’t, I wouldn’t seek revenge on Su Haoyu. Before my mother died, she only wished for my sister and me to live the life of ordinary citizens.”

”That is a mere woman’s perspective!” Han Xinrui rebuked. ”You say it’s a misunderstanding, where’s the misunderstanding? Su Haoyu simply wanted to kill all the insignificant sons in order to pave the way for his precious son, Su Chengyu, to inherit the throne. Don’t be fooled by Su Changyi! Su Changyi is on the same side as Su Chengyu and Su Haoyu!”

Compared to Han Xinrui’s agitation, Gong Juechen was particularly composed, merely stating, ”It’s a misunderstanding.”

The nature of this misunderstanding was then explained by Gong Juechen.

And upon hearing Gong Juechen’s explanation, Han Xinche and Han Xinrui broke out in a cold sweat.

Seeing Han Xinche and Han Xinrui’s barely concealed fear, Gong Juechen laughed, ”Now you should realize why he is so determined to suppress the Tao and Han families. The Tao family has already been eliminated, leaving only the Han family. If you can’t stay peaceful, it’s not just that you won’t be able to protect the Han family, but your Nine Clans will also suffer because of your actions.”

After a pause, Gong Juechen continued, ”You fear Su Changyi, but you greatly underestimate him as well. Do you really think he is unaware of the little schemes you’ve been plotting behind his back? I’m sure the moment you brought me into this mansion, he was already informed. So were Su Cheng Yu Su Hao Yu.”

Han Xinche and Han Xinrui were even more terrified.

”I really don’t understand you,” Gong Juechen suddenly sighed, ”Just look at Su Changyi, his merits overshadow his lord, and he wields great power; he does whatever he wants. But when have Su Haoyu and Su Chengyu ever feared him?”
