The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 1008: Chapter 376: Reporting and Upgrading Seniority_3

”Mr. Zhou, you...”

So now when Zhou Wang made an excuse, Yan Siyun got a bit anxious. But before she could inquire further, two elders emerged from the back room, accompanied by the health care doctor and the maid.

The main characters of today’s birthday banquet, Xia Xiwei’s grandparents, appeared.

Everyone quickly stood up, and Yan Siyun had no choice but to temporarily set this matter aside. She was the first to rush over, showcasing the unique charm and obedience of a youngest daughter.

”Dad, Mom!”

”Grandpa...”

Amidst the greetings, Zhou Wang also stood up, but just as he caught a clear view of the upright-looking elderly man’s face, the smile on Zhou Wang’s face froze, and his expression turned peculiar.

What a coincidence!

Due to Zhou Wang’s position being quite forward, the grandpa, nodding and smiling at his children and grandchildren, quickly noticed Zhou Wang’s presence.

...Not noticing was impossible. With Zhou Wang’s good looks and height, he stood out in the crowd.

While the grandpa was startled, Xia Xiwei ran up and held the elder’s arm, simultaneously pointing at Zhou Wang and sweetly saying, ”Grandpa, let me introduce you. This is Zhou Wang, my boyfriend...”

Oh no!

Zhou Wang only then realized something was wrong and tried to stop it, but it was too late. Sure enough, upon hearing Xia Xiwei say Zhou Wang was her boyfriend, the grandpa’s expression turned strange.

He looked at Zhou Wang, whose face was stiff, and then looked at Xia Xiwei, ”You say, he’s your boyfriend?”

”Yes, Grandpa. To be precise, he’s also my fiancé.”

”Oh, really?”

The grandpa suddenly let out a cold laugh, looking at Zhou Wang, ”Young man, it seems the bragging you did at the hall that day was quite conservative...”

...

This is a trap!

Xia Xiwei’s grandpa turned out to be the same Mr. Liu Zhou Wang had met at the hall that day!

The most awkward part was that Zhou Wang had confidently told him that the woman on stage, Jiang Mo, was his wife. To prove he wasn’t lying, Zhou Wang had even waited at the door to show off.

Today was even worse. After Zhou Wang’s continuous posturing, he was now unable to explain himself and was firmly cast as Xia Xiwei’s intimate boyfriend in her social circle.

Zhou Wang, who hadn’t felt social death in a long time, had no idea how he managed to eat that meal.

It was like sitting on needles, with thorns on his back, and a bone stuck in his throat.

He felt that the old man was pretty cunning, purposefully not exposing him to cause him the greatest torment.

In any case, after hurriedly finishing the meal, Zhou Wang didn’t heed Xia Qixian’s repeated attempts to keep him and quickly found an excuse to leave.

Once out of the park, Zhou Wang explained the situation to Xia Xiwei over the phone, and she burst out laughing.

”Pfft, there’s something like this? Why didn’t you say so earlier...”

”How was I supposed to know Mr. Liu was your grandpa?”

Zhou Wang finished speaking and suddenly realized something was off, ”Hey, wait a minute, your mom and aunt both have the surname Yan, so why is your grandpa’s last name Liu? Are you kidding me?”

Zhou Wang thought about it and realized that was the main reason for his lack of vigilance.

”Indeed, my grandpa’s surname is Liu. My mother and her siblings took my grandma’s last name due to some complex historical reasons from that era... Once things settled, my grandpa didn’t bother having them change back. He wasn’t very concerned about it.”

After a round of explanations from Xia Xiwei, Zhou Wang finally understood. However, hearing Xia Xiwei still laughing non-stop, Zhou Wang retorted, ”How can you still laugh? So what do we do now?”

”What else? Since my grandpa didn’t expose you directly, it means he might have guessed something... I’m the closest to my grandpa, and he knows me well. He probably already saw through my little act. I’ll explain it to him privately later.”

Xia Xiwei nonchalantly said, ”As long as the other relatives, especially my parents, believe it, it’s fine. I just needed a shield in the first place, as long as that purpose is achieved, it’s okay.”

”Alright then.”

Finished speaking, Zhou Wang wanted to end the call to find food, as he was too constrained earlier to eat his fill.

”Hey, wait a minute... Zhou Wang, thank you for everything today.”

Xia Xiwei called out to him, thought for a moment, and sincerely said.

”A verbal thank you?”

”Well, what else do you want me to do then, you say... Uncle Zhou!”

In the end, Xia Xiwei had a bright idea and sweetly called out once.

Even knowing it was a trick, Zhou Wang still felt his bones melt at the sound. His mind immediately conjured up the image of Xia Xiwei’s glossy lips accentuated with bright lipstick.

”Okay, good niece, I think a verbal thank you will do.”

Zhou Wang, entertaining some wicked thoughts, replied seriously.

”Really?”

Originally, Xia Xiwei thought Zhou Wang might have a more excessive request. She didn’t expect him to let it slide so easily.

”Yes, only if you thank me in person next time... and if you could look up at me while thanking me, that would be even better.”

”...”

After a brief silence, Xia Xiwei finally realized something and gloomily responded, ”Zhou Wang, making jokes like this with a pure young maiden like me, why don’t you drop dead?”

After speaking, Xia Xiwei angrily hung up the phone with a ”pa” sound.

”What kind of decent young maiden can understand instantly?”

Listening to the dial tone, Zhou Wang couldn’t help but mutter, ”Besides, I never said it was a joke...”

Zhou Wang put away his phone, shook his head, and could only complain that Xia Xiwei was a bad sport. He then asked Miao Ying to look up the most expensive restaurant nearby and drove there.

...

Around eight or nine in the evening, satisfied with spending thousands on a lavish meal, Zhou Wang returned to Beidou No.1 Courtyard.

He was contemplating whether to indulge himself a bit tonight and have Yun Rou and Yun Lan’s sister pair give him a relaxing Japanese-style SPA when he was informed by the property management that he had a visitor.

Zhou Wang had to temporarily stop rolling the dice on his phone. When he arrived at the reception room in the first-floor lobby, he saw, accompanied by the property manager, a slightly anxious-looking young man pacing restlessly.

”Chen He?”

Zhou Wang raised an eyebrow, ”Why didn’t you call me when you came over?”

After Ji Xiaoxi ”disappeared,” Zhou Wang naturally reached out to Chen He first, though Chen He obviously didn’t know what happened either, as it seemed Ji Xiaoxi had deleted him too.

Subsequently, Chen He volunteered to find out Ji Xiaoxi’s whereabouts.

”Mr. Zhou, you’re back!”

Seeing Zhou Wang appear, Chen He, who had seemingly been waiting for a long time, was overjoyed and quickly stood up with a smile, ”Well, I knew you were busy, so I didn’t want to bother you with a call. Assistant Lin said you’ve been coming home recently, so I decided to try my luck here... it seems my luck isn’t too bad.”

”Have a seat first.”

Zhou Wang glanced at Chen He, feeling a bit perplexed because Chen He’s face was bruised, as if he’d been in a fight. Once the property personnel served the tea and left, Zhou Wang asked, ”What’s up? Is it news about Ji Xiaoxi?”
