Necromancer: I Am A Disaster

Gu Qingxuan’s eyes showed surprise and disbelief.

Within the Human Emperor Network, every subtle expression was reproduced flawlessly, making it impossible to distinguish from reality.

Seeing her reaction, Lin Moyu asked, ”What’s wrong?”

Gu Qingxuan replied, ”Do you know how difficult it is to raise your authority level? In the past, I went through countless hardships just to advance from level 1 to level 2.”

Lin Moyu found that hard to relate to. His authority had upgraded the moment his evaluation ended.

”Isn’t authority based on points? Once you reach the required amount, your authority increases, doesn’t it?”

Gu Qingxuan shot him an exasperated look. On her usually cold and aloof face, the gesture carried an unexpectedly charming touch.

”If only it were that simple.”

”Points only count toward an authority upgrade if you earn them yourself through missions. Any points transferred to you by someone else are useless.”

”As for your evaluation, it was actually your first mission, a newcomer mission. Since you haven’t visited the Mission Center yet, your mission interface hasn’t been activated, so you couldn’t see it.”

Her explanation finally cleared things up for Lin Moyu.

After registering, he had been recognized by the human race and granted access to the Human Emperor Network. At the same time, he had automatically received his first newcomer mission: potential evaluation.

The rewards depended on the evaluation result.

There were four evaluation grades: poor, poor, excellent, and ultimate.

Only the last two awarded points.

An excellent evaluation granted 10 points, while an ultimate evaluation awarded 100.

However, neither was enough to upgrade one’s authority.

Advancing from level 1 to level 2 required 1,000 points, and only points obtained directly from missions counted; points acquired through any other means were worthless for authority upgrade.

Lin Moyu, however, had received a legendary evaluation, earning him 1,000 points in one go. As a result, his authority had advanced straight from level 1 to level 2.

He couldn’t help but realize that the human race’s point and authority system was far more intricate than he had first imagined.

There was still much for him to learn.

Gu Qingxuan let out a sigh, ”I only achieved an ultimate evaluation back then, so I received 100 points. To earn the remaining 900, I completed numerous missions and endured no small amount of hardship.”

”Unlike you, who jumped straight to level 2 in a single step.”

Looking at him with envy, she asked, ”Are you really only twenty-eight years old?”

Lin Moyu nodded, ”I guess. I don’t really keep track of my age.”

Gu Qingxuan looked at him, ”The Star Crystal doesn’t make mistakes. If it says you’re twenty-eight, then you are. I’m just curious... is everyone from your small world as monstrously talented as you?”

Lin Moyu shook his head, ”I’m the exception.”

Gu Qingxuan wisely let the matter drop.

Asking any further would venture into Lin Moyu’s personal secrets.

The two soon arrived at the Mission Center, where people accepted and completed missions in exchange for various rewards.

Some rewards existed only within the Human Emperor Network and were distributed instantly.

Others were tangible treasures delivered directly to the recipient after the mission was completed.

The Mission Center was bustling with activity.

Although the Human Emperor Network perfectly replicated the real world’s scale, certain aspects differed dramatically.

The Mission Center’s internal space had been expanded to an astonishing degree, easily accommodating millions of people without feeling crowded.

If an ordinary person had to walk from one end of the center to the other, the journey would probably take half a year.

Gu Qingxuan explained, ”In the greater world, the minimum requirement to enter the Mission Center is level 1 authority. And to obtain level 1 authority, you must at least reach the Transcendent God realm.”

”In other words, everyone here is at least a Transcendent God.”

”Your level 2 authority already allows you to operate within ten nearby star systems. Once you reach level 3, your jurisdiction expands to one hundred neighboring star systems.”

”Authority doesn’t just determine your sphere of activity, it also limits the missions you can accept. You may only undertake missions within your authorized territory, and the missions available must match your authority level.”

Lin Moyu immediately understood.

To a certain extent, authority was a reflection of one’s strength.

Generally speaking, the higher a person’s authority, the more powerful they were.

Throughout the Mission Center stood countless unattended mission terminals.

Whether accepting a mission or submitting one for completion, all that was required was to operate one of the mission terminals.

The entire process was fully automated, handled exclusively by the Human Emperor Network without any human involvement. ℯℯ𝘭.

Ever since arriving in the greater world and entering human territory, Lin Moyu had sensed a single prevailing mindset: cultivate, cultivate, and cultivate without ceasing.

Only by constantly growing stronger could the human race survive in this cruel world.

The Human Emperor Network and practically every system had been designed with that single goal in mind.

Gu Qingxuan stepped up to a mission terminal and operated it while explaining, ”You only need to use your intent to control everything here.”

”My authority is currently at level 3. Once I advance to level 4, I’ll be able to accept and submit missions anytime, anywhere, without having to come to the Mission Center.”

That level of convenience would save an enormous amount of time.

After submitting her mission, Gu Qingxuan let out a long sigh of relief.

”Finally. This stage of the mission is complete.”

The mission she had accepted was a chain mission. Escorting Lin Moyu had only been one step, and several more remained.

More importantly, the mission determined whether her authority could be upgraded, which in turn was a requisite for entering God City.

”Your turn now.” She said, stepping aside, ”See if there are any missions that suit you.”

The moment Lin Moyu connected his consciousness to the mission terminal, a translucent screen appeared before him, displaying his personal information.

It looked almost identical to the status panel he normally viewed.

The display was visible only to its owner; no one else could see it.

Standing beside him, Gu Qingxuan explained how to accept and submit missions.

The interface was straightforward, and Lin Moyu quickly grasped its operation.

With his current level 2 authority, he could operate within the ten nearby inhabited star systems, along with several surrounding uninhabited ones.

The number of missions available to him was limited, and each was matched to his current realm.

”A secret realm?”

One mission immediately caught his attention.

Clear Meteor Secret Realm No. 97.

There were secret realms in the greater world as well?

Could one also kill monsters here to level up?

Unsure whether he had misunderstood the concept, Lin Moyu asked, ”What exactly is a secret realm?”

Gu Qingxuan explained, ”The greater world contains countless mysterious lands. They’re often extremely dangerous, but they also hold valuable treasures. After powerhouses successfully explore and map one of these places, its data is recorded by the Human Emperor Network, which generates a corresponding secret realm.”

”These secret realms are virtual recreations. Inside them, you’ll experience everything exactly as you would in the real mysterious land. You won’t obtain any actual treasures, but there’s no real danger either, and you’ll still earn points upon completion.”

”Most importantly, they let people familiarize themselves with the dangers of the greater world. If you ever encounter one of those places in reality, you won’t be completely unprepared.”

The Human Emperor Network’s secret realms were entirely different from those of the small world.

Defeating monsters inside them granted no EXP.

Their true purpose was education, allowing people to safely learn about the dangers scattered throughout the greater world.

In the greater world, knowing how to respond to danger often determined whether one lived or died.

It was an exceptionally effective system for nurturing talent.
