Chapter 379: Chapter 379 True Demon Empire_1

Wan Yan Jun and his companions knew that the stone in Ling Xiao’s hand was a stone capable of storing True Essence, but they were unaware of the marvelous uses of the Array Refining Stone.

Therefore, they didn’t give it much thought.

Unfortunately for them, they didn’t know that Ling Xiao had already refined the ”Plague Osteoporosis Array” into this Array Refining Stone, which could be used on the spot without any materials in the future even once.

If he wanted to use it multiple times, however, he would need to replenish the materials.

Ling Xiao picked up the Array Refining Stone and placed it into the Mountain and River World before pointing to the spot where the Demon General had vanished and saying, ”My Senior Brother Chen Zui, do you think I’m up to the task now?”

At that location, a staircase leading underground had appeared, clearly carved out directly and laid with stone slabs.

The Plague Demon King had indeed put a lot of thought into constructing such an underground staircase.

The crowd, looking at the staircase leading downward, couldn’t help but swallow their saliva, appearing somewhat excited.

”Senior Brothers, do you think I should go down first, or would you prefer to go first?”

Ling Xiao asked with a smile.

Wan Yan Jun replied with a smile, ”Among the four of us, only Junior Brother Ling is knowledgeable in array formations, so naturally, it’s Junior Brother Ling who should take the lead. After all, we don’t know if there are any more traps or array formations as we go deeper.”

Ling Xiao cursed silently for their shamelessness.

However, he replied, ”If that’s the case, then I, as your Junior Brother, will go down first. But if we come across any fortune later on, I hope my Senior Brothers won’t be envious.”

”Wait a moment!”

Chen Zui suddenly shouted, then transmitted his voice to Wan Yan Jun, ”Senior Brother Wan Yan, we can’t let this kid go down first. He’s very greedy. If he sees something and directly stashes it in his Storage Ring, we won’t have a way to confront him about it, will we?”

”You’re right!”

Wan Yan Jun suddenly realized his oversight. Although he intended to kill Ling Xiao and Shang Guan Lei after their success, plans often can’t keep pace with changes. He worried that his own intentions might fail, so he couldn’t afford to let Ling Xiao take advantage anymore.

”Junior Brother Ling, you are our savior, and we can’t let you take risks. How about this—I will lead the way, and you follow behind me?”

Having thought this, Wan Yan Jun then said to Ling Xiao.

”So be it.”

How could Ling Xiao not understand the petty schemes of Wan Yan Jun? He simply couldn’t be bothered to expose them.

The underground staircase was designed to prevent the invasion of enemies, so it was only wide enough to accommodate one person at a time.

Therefore, Wan Yan Jun was at the forefront, followed by Ling Xiao, then Shang Guan Lei, with Chen Zui at the rear.

This was obviously to monitor Ling Xiao and Shang Guan Lei, preventing any foul play from the two.

As they proceeded down, nothing unexpected happened.

Wan Yan Jun’s pace became faster and faster.

Though there might be danger below, opportunities and dangers coexisted, and it was possible that they might find some treasures.

No, it was not a possibility but a certainty that there would be treasures!

They had walked for about the time it takes an incense stick to burn when an expansive underground palace opened up before them.

Constructed with no less opulence than the manor above, the palatial splendor was astonishing.

”Look there!”

Wan Yan Jun, at the front, suddenly stopped.

He had discovered people working in the area.

They were in ragged clothing, all looking thin, yet alive, all genuine humans.

”These must be the villagers from the valley and some Martial Vein Realm Martial Artists who have been captured. Now, they have all been turned into slaves.”

Ling Xiao, comprehending everything, was astonished.

The secret of the Plague Valley’s absence of people had finally been revealed.

They hadn’t died, which actually counted as good news.

Some of them carried huge stones, others pushed wheelbarrows, while some were chiseling irregular stones into square blocks.

What they were doing, incredibly, was constructing an altar.

”Are they trying to resurrect someone?”

Ling Xiao couldn’t help but be startled in his heart; this altar was clearly the legendary ”Life Altar.”

As long as there were enough sacrifices, those who had died could be resurrected.

The four cloaked their presence, confident that neither the ordinary people nor the Martial Vein Realm martial artists could possibly detect them.

”What a massive Life Altar, it’s at least a hundred meters in diameter. Look at the statues on the altar that are being worshiped!”

Wan Yan Jun, being an Inner Sect Disciple of Moon Hua Sect, also knew about the Life Altar.

The Life Altar mainly consisted of three parts: the altar itself, the sacrificial Blood Pool, and the worshiped statues.

Sacrifices were placed on the altar.

In the sacrificial Blood Pool was very precious blood.

And the worshiped statue was of the person to be resurrected.

Ling Xiao was astonished to discover that, at that moment, laid within the altar’s enormous stone bowl were three Transcendent Realm Third Layer warriors.

”Junior Brother Liu, Junior Brother Zhang, and Junior Sister Qin! My God, they’ve actually been used as sacrifices to worship the Plague Demon King!”

Those three were also disciples of the Moon Hua Sect.

They were Inner Sect disciples who had once come to Plague Valley for a mission.

There had always been rumors that they had gone missing or died, but their bodies had never been found. It was unexpected that they had been turned into sacrifices.

Their fates were truly tragic.

”They’re already dead, beyond saving.”

Ling Xiao let out a sigh.

There was no longer any sign of life in those three; only the lingering essence of their souls cried out in constant agony.

However, only he could perceive this.

”Look, who exactly is that statue meant to represent?”

Looking up from the sacrifices, there stood a colossal statue about ten or more meters high.

”A blood-red robe that eclipsed the heavens, blood-red pupils that seemingly saw through everything, the wicked third eye on the forehead invoking fear, a three-headed, six-armed deity capable of leading countless martial artists to a gruesome death. Sporting a pair of crimson horns that seemed to pierce through the heavens, hair equally crimson as if it were flames of Heaven Burning ablaze... Could this possibly be that person!”

Wan Yan Jun didn’t even dare to speak the name of that person, just thinking about it made him shudder uncontrollably.

”The True Demon Emperor!”

Although Ling Xiao felt fear, he was, after all, somewhat more resolute than Wan Yan Jun.

It was also because he had mentally prepared himself in advance.

Indeed, after meeting Grant Valley Master Thomas and considering the Plague Demon King, he had realized that this group might well be under the True Demon Emperor.

Thousands of years ago, the King of People and other extremely powerful figures from the Human Sacred Dynasty suddenly disappeared.

And afterward, a terrifying force emerged on the Heavenly Dragon Continent.

In just one day, they conquered several cities and established a nation known as the ”True Demon Empire.”

This news sent shockwaves through the Twelve Sects behind the Sacred Dynasty.

At that time, they thought it was merely a minor nuisance and didn’t take it seriously, for in the history of the Sacred Dynasty, there had never been a lack of such ignorant rebels.

However, as time passed, the territory of the True Demon Empire grew larger and larger. They annexed the lands of the Barbarian Clan, the Green-eyed Clan, the Ninja Clan, and, for a time, their territory even surpassed that of the Sacred Dynasty itself.
