Tyrant Sky Martial Soul

Chapter 371: Chapter 371 Underground Devil’s Cave_1

”Wanyan Shi Di!”

Senior Brother Zhan also recognized Wan Yan Jun, his face revealing a trace of delight.

”Quick! Save my disciple!”

He suddenly raised his voice a lot, but due to his extreme weakness, he still sounded breathless and powerless.

”Senior Brother Zhan, where is your disciple?”

Wan Yan Jun frowned and asked.

All he wanted was to complete his mission; he had no interest in saving people.

”My disciple has been captured by a ferocious beast and taken into its demon cave. This ferocious beast is as strong as I am, but it can control the plague, which is extremely terrifying. It possesses a treasure that is very likely a Divine Artifact.”

Senior Brother Zhan said, gasping for air.

Divine Artifacts!

Upon hearing these four words, Wan Yan Jun, Chen Zui, and Shangguan Lei, who had previously been indifferent, suddenly changed their expressions, filled with greed.

Ling Xiao silently shook his head from the sidelines.

It’s mostly greed that causes people to lose their reason.

”Where is this demon cave of the ferocious beast?”

Wan Yan Jun inquired.

”It’s in the cellar of the manor.”

Senior Brother Zhan said with a wry smile: ”This cellar was originally where I stored my martial arts secret books, various spiritual elixirs, and weapons. But it was seized by the beast, turning it into its demon cave. Everyone in the valley has been imprisoned down there.”

”They’re not dead yet?”

Ling Xiao suddenly asked.

”I don’t know about that. I’m merely clinging to life now, just waiting to die. The beast dares not to capture me, just fearing that I might choose to self-destruct my Martial Veins.”

Suddenly consumed by despair, Senior Brother Zhan burst into tears: ”Alas, I am so useless. As the valley master, I’ve actually let this place fall into becoming a devil’s lair.”

”Senior Brother Zhan, no need to be heartbroken. We will help you rescue those people.”

Wan Yan Jun said excitedly, ”Ling Xiao, you stay here and take good care of Senior Brother Zhan. We three will be back soon.”

”But, Brother, I also want to go and complete the mission.”

Ling Xiao hurriedly said.

”Enough talk! Do what you’re told. With this arrangement, we not only complete the mission but can also give you some benefits. Otherwise, you won’t get anything!”

Wan Yan Jun threatened.

”Fine, then.”

Ling Xiao nodded his head, yet a faint, imperceptible sneer slid across the corner of his mouth.

If these three were so eager to rush to their deaths, why should he stop them?

”Let’s go!”

The thought process of Wan Yan Jun, Chen Zui, and Shangguan Lei was simple. Although there could be danger in the demon cave below, it was, after all, only a Level 3 Ferocious Beast, which was equivalent to a Transcendent Realm Third Layer Warrior. The three of them together should be more than capable of handling it.

They saw no need for Ling Xiao to continue with them.

If Ling Xiao entered as well, he might even hinder their completion of the mission and their acquisition of the treasure.

Watching the three figures disappear, Ling Xiao suddenly spat white foam, collapsing on the ground with convulsions. After a short while, he rolled his eyes back and passed out completely.

”Heheheh, a mere Half-step Grandmaster dares to delve deep into the Plague Valley. I knew this young fella would get infected by the plague.” Senior Brother Zhan, who had been leaning weakly against the wall, revealed a sinister smile as he looked at the prostrate Ling Xiao.

”Next, I’ve got to deal with those three fools. It’s not easy to raise a ferocious beast; I can’t let it be killed by those three idiots.”

Senior Brother Zhan nonchalantly hoisted Ling Xiao over his shoulder and followed Wan Yan Jun and the others into the underground demon cave, then completely sealed the door behind them.

Of course, Ling Xiao was feigning unconsciousness.

He had suspected something was off about Senior Brother Zhan from the start. Others might not have noticed, but with his keen eyesight, he could tell that the man exuded an evil aura all over.

Such a person couldn’t possibly be normal.

Lying on Senior Brother Zhan’s shoulder, Ling Xiao noticed that two Array Refining Stones were actually embedded in the stone gate sealing the Underground Devil’s Cave.

Once the two Array Refining Stones were activated, only someone proficient in Array Formations or who knew the mechanism could open it.

His master, Yuan Venerate, had once told him that Array Formation Masters did not exist on the Heavenly Dragon Continent, at least not for the past ten thousand years.

Could it be that Senior Brother Zhan had actually come into contact with people from ten thousand years ago?

As he approached the center of the Demon Cave, Ling Xiao heard the sounds of fighting inside; presumably, Wan Yan Jun, Chen Zui, and Shangguan Lei were already clashing with the Plague Beast.

Senior Brother Zhan hastened his steps significantly, and in a short while, they arrived at the core of the Demon Cave.

There were no villagers in the valley, not even bodies, but there certainly were many Martial Arts Secret Books, as well as a large number of Spirit Pills and weapons that are very important to worldly Martial Artists.

There were also several thousands of Low-grade Spirit Stones.

Senior Brother Zhan threw Ling Xiao onto the ground and then quietly disappeared into the darkness.

This guy was really cautious, clearly planning to launch a surprise attack.

”Ah~~”

From the darkness, a gaunt claw landed on Shangguan Lei’s back, and he let out a horrific scream. A black handprint appeared on his back, and he was clearly not going to make it.

”Someone’s sneak attacking!”

Wan Yan Jun and Chen Zui’s expressions changed drastically as they protected Shangguan Lei and leaned against the wall to avoid being ambushed.

”Isn’t that Ling Xiao?”

Wan Yan Jun saw Ling Xiao lying on the ground with upturned eyes, motionless.

”He couldn’t be dead, could he?”

”But there’s only Senior Brother Zhan outside. How could this happen – could it be Senior Brother Zhan!”

Wan Yan Jun suddenly considered a possibility, and his heart turned ice-cold in an instant, fear and regret filling his entire being.

”Run for it!”

Wan Yan Jun shouted, no longer caring about Shangguan Lei.

Chen Zui followed closely behind him.

They didn’t care about Shangguan Lei, and they cared even less for Ling Xiao. Without so much as a second glance at Ling Xiao, they fled toward the outside of the Demon Cave.

However, the Plague Beast had already blocked the entrance, baring its teeth and claws ferociously.

”Hehehe, none of you are escaping today. Since you’ve come, why be in such a hurry to leave? I’ve gone through such great pains to set up this trap. If you were to escape, wouldn’t it be such a waste?”

Amidst the laughter, Senior Brother Zhan’s figure gradually appeared.

Behind him was a skeleton head with eyes glowing red.

Although Ling Xiao had seen his share of Martial Souls, he had never seen one quite like this – it was unprecedented.

Indeed, within the Mysterious World, it is filled with mystery, and any peculiar and strange things can happen.

Mingled in the depths of this Demon Cave, Ling Xiao felt not the slightest fear, but rather a hint of excitement.

This was adventure; this was the path a Martial Artist should walk.

It was just too boring to be holed up in the Sect all the time.

”Senior Brother Zhan, as a disciple of the Moon Hua Sect, what exactly do you intend to do?”

Sensing no way out, Wan Yan Jun steeled his heart, prepared to fight it out.

Together with Chen Zui, they might not be a match for Senior Brother Zhan and the Plague Beast.

After all, there were only two enemies with the strength of the Transcendent Realm Third Layer.

They themselves were Transcendent Realm Third Layer Warriors as well, and they often carried out missions together, cultivated together, so their cooperation should be at least no worse than their opponents’.

Moreover, there was still Shangguan Lei; though severely injured, he hadn’t died. He might prove to be a surprise at a critical moment.
