Chapter 39: 39th Chapter: Winning Streak in the Competition_1

The elimination round involving tens of thousands of people mostly captures attention for those standout figures.

According to the rules of the competition, if one loses twice in a row, they are automatically eliminated. If one’s losses exceed ten, they are also eliminated automatically.

So actually, if one loses a single match, there’s still a chance, but accumulating ten losses still results in elimination.

If one can achieve a hundred consecutive victories, they are automatically promoted to the list of the top thousand.

This rule is specifically outlined to protect those disciples who suddenly emerge as exceptional.

A hundred consecutive wins are more than enough to prove their strength, and there’s no need to continue in such a grueling elimination round, which can severely drain their stamina.

So what the audience is most interested in are those capable of achieving consecutive victories.

As the competition begins, the match-up list is randomly drawn, meaning that before the competition starts, no one knows who their opponent will be.

Many hope not to be matched against the top two hundred fighters on the stone rankings, as that would increase the likelihood of losing.

At the start of the competition, the audience mostly pays attention to the Elite Hall disciples ranked twenty to thirty, as they are the most likely to achieve consecutive wins, given that the top ten do not participate.

However, after twenty matches, the number of contenders still maintaining a win streak had dwindled to only two.

One of them was the twenty-ranked Ling Ziran.

His fight was incredibly smooth, almost every opponent was defeated by him in a single move, without any chance to fight back.

The judges of this year’s grand competition were far from ordinary; they were all experts from the Ling Family who had presided over many competitions.

Their judgment was very accurate.

They could often determine the winner and loser in an instant.

So sometimes, a fight doesn’t need to last too long. As soon as they feel it’s decided, they’ll call a stop to it.

”Ling Ziran is too strong. I wonder if he has a chance to break into the top ten this time!”

”He definitely has the potential. You might not know this, but Ling Ziran once challenged someone from the top ten privately, and he won.”

”No wonder he’s so formidable! But who’s the other one with consecutive wins? I’ve never seen him before.”

”Oh, that guy, I’ve heard of him. His name is Ling Xiao, who has recently risen like a comet among the lower-ranked disciples. It’s surprising that he’s won twenty matches consecutively.”

Indeed, the two with twenty consecutive wins were one who everyone expected to challenge the top ten, Ling Ziran.

And the other was Ling Xiao, a true dark horse!

”It’s his turn again. Let’s go have a look at the excitement. Find out what’s so special about this fellow so we can be prepared if we face him later.”

”Let’s go!”

Although many matches are underway simultaneously, the ones that truly drew attention are only those of Ling Ziran and Ling Xiao.

Because they are the only two left who may potentially hit the hundred consecutive wins milestone.

”Round twenty-one! Contestant 9588 against 6590!”

Ling Xiao’s figure flashed, and he had already appeared on the Martial Arts Platform.

He made no effort to conceal his Body Movement Technique.

After all, it was already well-known, and many were aware of his exceptional technique. Even if he wanted to hide it, he wouldn’t have been able to.

His opponent was merely a Martial Artist at the Pinnacle of the Second Layer of Martial Veins, who, in terms of momentum, was already weakened in the face of Ling Xiao.

”Great Strength Fist!”

The opponent roared, seemingly to boost his own morale.

He was using a mid-level fist technique with decent power, but it was simply not sufficient against Ling Xiao.

”Off you go!”

Ling Xiao simply took a light step forward, then, like a Wild Ox charging, his fists transformed into horns.

He directly blasted his opponent off the platform.

”Hey, isn’t that the Wild Ox Power?”

”Yes, that’s the Basic Martial Arts Wild Ox Power! But how come it’s so powerful!”

”Contestant 9588 wins, marking twenty-one consecutive victories!”

The judges’ eyes revealed their surprise, not just because Ling Xiao had reached twenty-one consecutive wins.

More importantly, in all twenty-one of those matches, Ling Xiao had defeated his opponents with a single move.

What was even more astounding was that he used the Basic Martial Arts Wild Ox Power to accomplish this!

”He only dares to use the Wild Ox Power against an opponent with Martial Veins Second Layer.”

It’s not surprising people would say this; after all, whether by coincidence or not, Ling Xiao’s luck in these twenty-one matches has indeed been good—the strongest he faced was only at the Martial Veins Second Layer.

Those who couldn’t stand to see Ling Xiao’s strength naturally looked for various reasons to disparage him.

”Contestant number 9588 against contestant number 3489!”

After a short rest, the twenty-second round began.

This time, his opponent was still at the peak of the Martial Veins Second Layer.

So Ling Xiao had almost no hesitation.

As soon as the referee shouted start, he went on the offensive.

Still the Wild Ox Power.

Still just one move.

The opponent was still blasted off the Martial Arts Platform.

It was not that he was brutally hard-hitting.

Mainly, this was the rule.

Only if the opponent was knocked off the Martial Arts Platform or admitted defeat would the match truly end.

In other words, even if the referee made a judgment, it was just a reference—if the competitors didn’t agree, the match had to continue.

To avoid any trouble, he simply blasted them off with one punch.

However, the disciples he knocked off the Martial Arts Platform weren’t seriously injured; by now, his control of his force had become very skilled.

”Hmph, it’s nothing impressive. It’s just good luck, with his opponents still being at Martial Veins Second Layer. Can’t he face someone from the Martial Veins Third Layer?”

Among the spectators, there were still some who were not convinced.

”Contestant number 9588 wins, achieving a streak of twenty-two consecutive victories!”

The referee seemed somewhat numb too, lacking the previous shock and announced the result in a mechanical fashion.

However, to the displeasure of those waiting to see Ling Xiao’s downfall, in the next ten matches, Ling Xiao still didn’t encounter a single Martial Artist with Martial Veins Third Layer.

After all, there were too many competitors, and the vast majority were Martial Artists with Martial Veins Second Layer, which was understandable.

”Contestant number 9588 wins! Achieving a streak of thirty-two consecutive victories!”

”Ziran brother, Ling Xiao is just too lucky. You’ve encountered two Martial Veins Third Layer Martial Artists already, and he hasn’t faced a single one!”

During the break in matches, the crowd that had come to watch the excitement had grown.

Among them were two who also maintained a winning streak, Ling Ziran, and Ling Yu, who had already lost two rounds by that point.

The speaker was Ling Yu, a woman who was really good at seducing men.

She had gotten close to Ling Ziran so quickly.

”Don’t worry, my little sister Yu. As long as I have the chance to face this Ling Xiao, I will definitely take care of him for you,” said Ling Ziran coldly. ”But this guy is quite lucky. If he continues to face opponents from Martial Veins Third Layer, he might get eliminated directly, and I might not even get the chance to teach him a lesson.”

Clearly, Ling Ziran looked down on Ling Xiao.

Although he knew Ling Xiao had once cleverly defeated Ling Tieshou, many people considered that battle an accident.

Some even said that Ling Tieshou deliberately acted weak as part of a ploy to appear like a pig to eat a tiger during the year-end major competition.

”Contestant number 9588 against contestant number 140!”

”Huh? That’s Ling Hu! Ranked one hundred and forty in the Elite Hall, with Martial Veins Third Layer cultivation, now there’s going to be a good show!”

Just when Ling Ziran was feeling bored and was about to go back to wait for his next match, the situation finally changed.

”Ling Hu! Give that showoff a good lesson!”

”Right, that kid is way too arrogant!”

Ling Xiao, in order to save True Qi, had been using Basic Martial Arts, and now people were taking it as showing off.

This was truly a bit unfair.

However, it’s clear that many people were displeased with him.

After all, a nobody had suddenly become a significant figure, and many people just couldn’t swallow that fact.

”Ling Xiao, I’ve found you annoying for a long time! I’ll be the one to end your winning streak!”
