Tyrant Sky Martial Soul

Chapter 38: Chapter 38 Elimination Match_1

This was destined to be a restless night.

Countless youngsters of the Ling Family were rubbing their hands in anticipation, secretly preparing for the excellent opportunity to make the ”Carp Leaping Over Dragon Gate.”

The higher-ups of the Ling Clan also closely monitored everything.

What they wanted was exactly this effect.

Only under such an atmosphere could the most outstanding disciples truly emerge.

The horns of battle had already sounded!

Brave warriors were sharpening their blades eagerly!

...

The next morning dawned.

Upon the arena ground.

Although the sky was not yet fully bright, the place had already gathered a lot of people.

There were Ling Clan disciples who were so excited they hadn’t slept well all night, as well as Ling Clan’s mid to high-level figures who had come early to prepare the venue.

Ling Xiao, on the other hand, was considered to be quite late.

He had a good night’s sleep the night before.

By the time he reached the square, the day was already bright, and he found that all the top ten disciples of the Elite Hall were already present.

And the disciples of the Genius Hall ranked after the top ten had also all hurried over.

However, these people had only one target in mind, which was Ling Yihang, and at most, Ling Yixue as well.

After all, in their eyes, only these two could pose a threat to them.

Ling Xiao yawned and leaned against the stone wall to observe the situation throughout the arena ground.

There were probably dozens of Martial Arts Platforms.

He didn’t count carefully, but with so many participants, these platforms were necessary.

Especially during the knockout stage, nearly ten thousand contesting—without this many platforms, who knows how long the competition would last.

The platforms were all constructed from special materials and were unlikely to break unless one possessed Gang Qi and the move was too ferociously powerful.

The so-called knockout stage was actually to select the top ten from both the Elite Hall and the lower-ranked disciples.

Then these ten would be mixed with the one hundred disciples of the Genius Hall for the real grand competition.

The reasoning was simple; the disciples of the Genius Hall were too strong, and most among the Elite Hall and lower-ranked disciples simply didn’t cut it.

If everyone was mixed together, it would be a waste of time for the disciples of the Genius Hall.

Ling Xiao looked towards those several dozen disciples of the Genius Hall.

Indeed, all of them had the strength of the Martial Veins Third Layer Peak and had condensed Gang Qi.

However, there was a difference in the extent to which they had condensed the Gang Qi.

The weakest one had only condensed two parts of Gang Qi in the first Martial Vein.

The strongest one had already condensed five parts of Gang Qi in the third Martial Vein.

Of course, this was because people like Ling Feifan hadn’t arrived yet; otherwise, these guys’ strength would probably be even more terrifying.

Most of the Genius Hall’s disciples appeared very relaxed, as there were too few from the Elite Hall and lower-ranked disciples who could pose a threat to them.

At this moment, they were pointing fingers and judging the Elite Hall and lower-ranked disciples.

”Our Hall Master said that this year’s Elite Hall has good quality disciples, and probably five or six of them will pose a threat to our Genius Hall’s disciples,” one of them said.

”I think only Ling Yihang and Ling Yixue are worth mentioning, the rest are not worth considering,” said another.

”That’s true. Ling Yihang has been ranked eleventh on the Stele Ranking for a while now and has successively defeated many of our Genius Hall’s disciples. He might even pose a threat to Young Master Feifan.”

”Hmph, what is Ling Yihang? Only I am qualified to defeat Young Master Feifan!”

Suddenly, a rugged voice rang out, and someone actually leaped onto the spectator stand from a distance of dozens of meters.

”Ling Zhan!”

”It’s Ling Zhan, ranked fourth in the Genius Hall!”

The arrival of this person was indeed very ostentatious.

His fame alone caused waves of excitement among the crowd.

Ling Xiao also looked at this Ling Zhan.

He was nearly two meters tall, with a physique that was incredibly strong, and seemed to be filled with terrifying power; his muscles were frighteningly pronounced.

In truth, these were just appearances; when Ling Xiao analyzed this guy with his Mountain and River Martial Soul, his brows couldn’t help but knit tightly together.

He was actually at the Martial Vein Quadruple Layer, with his Gang Qi cultivated to ninety percent in the third vein!

No wonder he was ranked fourth in the Genius Hall, that was amazing!

Ling Xiao couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous— if the fourth was already this strong, what about the top three?

He had known all along that the disciples of the Genius Hall were terrifying, but he was still a bit taken aback when Ling Zhan appeared.

”Below the Four Young Masters come people like Ling Yun, Ling Shuang, and Ling Zhan. It could be said that they’re on the level of ’almost-masters’!”

”Almost-masters, huh. Alas, we’re not even close to their level, let alone the Four Young Masters of Tianfeng City.”

”Ling Feifan, Ling Yun, and Ling Shuang haven’t arrived yet, right? I guess they’re not very interested in the fight for Elite Hall.”

”Yeah, only this Ling Zhan likes the hustle and bustle. Otherwise, with his status, he wouldn’t have had to come.”

Sitting on a stone stump and eating, Ling Yihang merely glanced indifferently at Ling Zhan, his face showing no expression.

He kept his head down, continuing to eat.

Ling Yixue had a slight frown on her face.

Ling Feng and Ling Tieshou looked even more distressed.

Facing Ling Zhan, they had no chance of victory.

Ling Xiao clenched his fists.

”The stronger the opponent, the more interesting it is!”

To be honest, since possessing the Mountain and River Martial Soul, he had yet to fight at full strength.

After understanding ”Soaring Cloud Step: Transforming Dragon” and ”Bull Demon Technique: Condensing Evil Spirits,” he hadn’t truly sparred with anyone.

He had only dodged when facing Ling Tieshou.

”If I get serious, even I am scared of myself. I wonder how far I can go before breaking through to the Martial Vein Quadruple Layer?”

”Alright, silence everyone! The annual elimination round will start shortly. We will select the top ten from the thousands of Elite Hall and lower-ranked disciples!”

A voice filled with authority and dominance rang out.

This person was likely a high-ranking official of the Ling Clan overseeing the Elite Hall, though Ling Xiao didn’t recognize him.

The competition began, and everyone fell silent.

Choosing ten people out of ten thousand was truly a brutal competition.

Of course, even if one didn’t make the top ten, as long as they ranked within the top one thousand, they could remain in the Elite Hall.

So despite the large number of participants, everyone had different goals and objectives.

Some aimed simply to make it within the top one thousand.

Some wanted to secure a rank within the Elite Hall.

While others aspired to enter the Genius Hall through this competition.

”Now, the first round begins. Listen for your number, then go to the corresponding Martial Arts Platform. If you do not appear within the set time, it will be considered a forfeit.”

The format of the competition was actually very simple— one round decides the winner, with duels in pairs, the loser leaves, and the winner stays.

This continued until only one thousand remained, at which point the competition format would change.

According to the rankings on the stone wall, these one thousand would be divided into ten groups, which would be arranged in a zig-zag manner.

For instance, Ling Yihang, ranked first, would be in Group One, while Ling Yixue, ranked second, would be in Group Two, and so on, with the disciple ranked twentieth being placed again in Group Ten.

The benefit of this was clear— it allowed the stronger disciples to stay until the end, preventing them from facing each other prematurely.

Out of these ten groups, each comprising one hundred people, one finalist would emerge from each group.

This person would then compete against disciples from the Genius Hall.

But that would be a concern for after the remaining number had been whittled down to one thousand.

For now, apart from the top ten who were seeded and didn’t have to compete, the rest of the tens of thousands had to fight through one round after another.
