Tyrant Sky Martial Soul

Chapter 36: Chapter 36 Power Ranking_1

Hearing those rewards, Ling Xiao was naturally excited as well.

However, his point of excitement was different from others.

What he was mainly concerned about were the Ling Family’s advanced martial arts.

Being the possessor of the Mountain and River Martial Soul, he could take out all the martial arts collections from the third floor of the Book Collection Pavilion as long as he got in.

Any restriction of taking only one or two books was meaningless to him.

Of course, the reward of pills was also very good.

After all, a set of three pills needed for breakthrough would cost three thousand taels of silver.

And a hundred Qi Gathering Pills would need ten thousand taels of silver.

Only a fool would not be tempted.

”Stop arguing, just let Elder Brother Bright continue. What are the rewards for making it into the top ten?”

”Making it into the top ten, one can choose three sets of advanced martial arts, and the amount of pills for breakthrough is increased to three sets!”

This wasn’t very attractive to Ling Xiao, but for ordinary disciples, the addition of one set of advanced martial arts and another set of pills meant a huge gain!

”It’s just a pity that after all, there are only ten people who can make it into the top ten.”

”No matter what, you’ve got to try.”

”Exactly, even just for the rewards!”

”Are you guys satisfied with just that? You really lack ambition. Let me tell you, if you can make it into the top three, not only will you receive all the previous rewards, but you will also receive an additional top-tier martial art and a Gang Qi Pill as a reward!”

”Wow! A top-tier martial art as a reward!”

”And that Gang Qi Pill, isn’t one worth ten thousand taels of silver?”

Elder Brother Bright’s words shocked many people into exclaiming aloud.

What does a top-tier martial art mean?

It means the best martial arts in the secular world!

For disciples who were not aware of the Transcendent Realm, who didn’t know about transcendent martial arts, a top-tier martial art was the best reward!

As for the Gang Qi Pill, it was the best pill for the Gang Qi stage, made using the essence blood of a Fourth Level Demonic Beast and other materials.

Below the Martial Meridian Sixth Layer, it was an absolute top-quality item.

Why did Ling Xiao want the Gang Qi Pill? He wanted to use it to break through to the Martial Vein Quadruple Layer.

He hadn’t expected such a reward in this year’s grand competition.

Great, the more the better. Anyway, after breaking through to the four-level Martial Veins, he could still use it.

As for the top-tier martial arts, needless to say, it was definitely coveted by everyone.

”The rewards for second place are similar to those for third place, but with one more Gang Qi Pill!”

”What about first place? There must be a big surprise for the first place, right?”

”To be honest, besides receiving all the previous rewards, the first-place winner will also receive a mysterious prize, which even I don’t know about. Elder Ling will announce it personally at that time, adding a bit of suspense.”

Elder Brother Bright shrugged.

”Why is it like that!”

”Yeah, it’s really hanging us in suspense!”

The onlookers were a bit frantic.

Not just them, Ling Xiao felt a bit of an itch in his heart as well.

With the other rewards already so good, the mysterious prize was surely not going to disappoint.

”Next!”

It was Ling Xiao’s turn to register. He shook his head, casting away the confusion in his mind.

Forget everything else for now; it was better to earnestly take part in this year’s grand competition. As long as he could achieve ranking, he would naturally learn what the reward was at that time.

”9588!”

This was the number Ling Xiao received.

There was no helping it; he was late because he had been practicing, so he could only draw a number towards the very end.

However, this didn’t really matter; after all, when it came to the elimination rounds, everyone had the same standing.

Yet this particular number gave Ling Xiao quite a start. Even though he was late, he had drawn the number 9588, indicating that at least nine thousand people were participating in the competition, nearly ten thousand!

It had been said before that disciples of the Elite Hall and Genius Hall were age-restricted; they must be under twenty years old. Upon reaching twenty, they would be assigned other duties and no longer remain in the hall.

Even so, it was indeed a bit surprising to see so many people.

However, most of these individuals were insignificant disciples, or one might say, lower-ranked disciples.

Given that the number of Elite Hall disciples always remains around a thousand.

That is to say, only those ranked in the top thousand could become Elite Hall disciples; otherwise, they would be kicked back among the lower-ranked disciples.

About ten thousand people are competing for these one thousand spots, which could definitely be described as fierce.

Even after joining the Elite Hall, securing better treatment requires at least breaking into the top hundred.

This competition becomes even more intense.

As for the Genius Hall, it was even more formidable.

Because the total number of disciples in the Genius Hall was merely a hundred—no more, no less.

If someone were promoted to the Genius Hall, it definitely meant someone else would be demoted back to the Elite Hall.

Such was the brutal competition of survival of the fittest, with no chance of taking shortcuts.

On the martial arts competition field stood a massive stone wall with two hundred nameplates hanging upon it.

The names were inscribed on these plates.

They represented the rankings of the Genius Hall, Elite Hall, and the lower-ranked disciples.

After each annual competition, these nameplates would undergo changes, not just in order, but their actual replacement was also possible.

The annual competition was mainly divided into two parts.

One part was the contest between Elite Hall and lower-ranked disciples, where only the final top ten were eligible to challenge the Genius Hall disciples.

Disciples of the Genius Hall would also compete, leading to a reshuffling of ranks.

So the reward that Elder Brother Bright mentioned earlier wasn’t just about securing the first place in the Elite Hall—it included the top disciple of the Genius Hall!

On the stone wall, the nameplate in the first position stood out as it was made of pure gold.

The name inscribed was none other than Ling Feifan!

One of the four young masters of Tianfeng City and the most outstanding disciple under twenty years of age within the Ling Family.

In his time, Ling Feifan had already broken through to the Martial Vein Quadruple Layer at Ling Xiao’s age.

He was an exceptionally rare genius!

Since he secured the top rank on the leaderboard, his position had remained unchallenged for three years.

This guy was undeniably the number one prodigy of the Ling Family.

Of course, that might not be the case this year.

The second rank displayed a silver-made nameplate, also very conspicuous, belonging to a disciple named Ling Yun.

The third rank had a bronze-made nameplate, which was quite noticeable as well, and surprisingly, it was a girl named Ling Shuang.

Nameplates from the fourth to the two hundredth ranks were all made of wood and looked more or less the same.

Ling Xiao took a careful look and saw that the Genius Hall disciples occupied the top ten ranks.

The eleventh rank belonged to Ling Yihang, the first in Elite Hall.

This was somewhat unexpected for him; it appeared that Ling Yihang must have privately challenged the Genius Hall disciples, which is why he was ranked here.

Looking at Ling Yixue, who was second in the Elite Hall, she was placed after the hundredth rank, specifically at one hundred and one.

And Ling Feng was at one hundred and two.

As for Ling Tieshou, he was at one hundred and three.

However, these standings were hard to predict, as all of the top five disciples in the Elite Hall were at the Martial Meridian Third Layer Peak. Once they comprehended the Qi Transformation into Gang, it was possible that they could even defeat the Genius Hall disciples.

”Eh? I’m listed as well?”

Ling Xiao initially thought he had no chance of entering the top two hundred, yet there he was upon seeing the very last name!

In the Ling Family, having identical names was impossible, as duplicates were required to change their names.

So without a doubt, that was indeed him.

”It must be because I defeated Ling Chong and Ling Fei, and also had a confrontation with Ling Tieshou, so my ranking was advanced,” he guessed.

In his view, there was no other possibility.

”Quite interesting. Although making it into the top two hundred is worth celebrating, I’m still too far back. This upcoming competition is definitely an opportunity!”
