STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer

4th zone, special base

As time passed by, he hunted down more corrupted hybrid dogs. The numbers eventually touched 12 Tier-4 Corrupted beasts and 9 Tier-5 Corrupted beasts. But it was already evening.

He could hunt down more hybrid dogs, but he didn’t want to do that. It was a risk to stay here. He had already formed a grudge with the Tier-6 Black Hyena.

It must know his scent. If it came here, then a fight would become unavoidable.

He still wanted to keep his trump cards and abilities hidden.

So Jeremy Night decided to return before midnight. He didn’t want to come across higher-tier beasts.

On the way back, he was not in a hurry. He used his eye powers to stay safe and then began to focus on training his muscles.

He constantly tensed and relaxed them. After going back, he wanted to pay attention to his techniques. He wanted the techniques to reach the expert stage. Then he could set Elder John and Sandra’s minds at rest.

He couldn’t be willful like back in the 5th zone.

That night, he saw the base and increased his pace. While going back towards the base, he saw other beast-taming teams returning as well.

He had not met the seniors yet. The beast-taming teams who were coming back were above Tier-5 strength.

Jeremy thought that they were second- and third-year students. He didn’t want to have any clashes with them. When everyone got closer to the base, his presence drew attention.

”Hey, what is a Tier-3 Beast Tamer doing here?”

”That young man is the rumored Tier-3 Beast Tamer. He fought alone against the Tier-5 Beasts during the battle.”

”I heard that he is a Striker. Which means his lifeline beast is a waste.”

”He will die sooner and become food under a beast’s belly someday.”

”Tsk, strikers have a short lifespan.”

Jeremy Night heard both the positive and negative words. He was angry in his heart, but he could not be rash at this moment. He knew the reputation of Strikers was bad.

Only the attacker and support-type beast tamers had a more positive reputation. Then, everyone returned to the admin building. The seniors were surprised that a Striker had come to the mission desk.

Jeremy felt everyone’s gaze on him. He sneered. He knew they were evaluating him.

Smith saw him and was taken aback. He knew what type of mission it was.

His eyes then flickered with understanding. It was nighttime; the young man might resume the mission the next morning. Still, he went to ask.

”Jeremy, what happened?” Smith asked.

Hearing that, Jeremy smiled. He thought Smith was underestimating him. Some of the seniors were paying attention to the matter. It was a chance to shut the mouths of a few people.

”I have completed the mission. I’m here to submit the heads of 12 Tier-4 and 9 Tier-5 hybrid dogs,” he said in a calm tone, but loud enough to be heard by others.

Gasp!

A surprise-filled exclamation occurred. The seniors who were dismissive earlier widened their eyes in disbelief.

They couldn’t believe what they were hearing right now. One of the people who had made a rude comment earlier stepped forward.

”Elder Smith, I think the young man is bluffing. Ask him to show us the heads of the hybrid dogs,” he said. He was a Tier-6 Beast Tamer from the second year. His name was Rock.

”This?” Smith uttered.

He recovered from the shock and looked towards Jeremy Night, nodding his head to him.

Jeremy Night glanced at the person and gave a cold snort in his heart.

He then brought the decapitated heads of the hybrid dogs out from his storage ring and placed them on the table.

Gasp!

Another round of exclamations occurred, but this time the gasping sound was huge.

Not only did the senior beast tamers gasp in surprise, but the elders behind the mission desk were shocked as well. They saw 12 Tier-4 and 9 Tier-5 Corrupted Beasts.

The young man had hunted them down in a single day. Even talented Beast Tamers would find it hard to kill more than one.

What was more? The young man was a Striker who was only a Tier-3 Beast Tamer. He basically fought across Tiers and killed the beasts successfully.

No one had anything left to say. Jeremy Night was clearly a genius. He was selected by Elder John; he had nothing to prove.

The face of Elder Smith changed drastically. He looked towards Rock with a cold expression.

”Beast Tamer Rock, is this enough? How long are you going to embarrass yourself?” he said in a cold tone.

Hearing that, Rock was angry. His face flushed with sarcasm and embarrassment. He gave an angry look towards Jeremy Night. He thought it was a trap set by the young man, and he had fallen into it.

He noted this in his mind before leaving the place. The other seniors had changed their opinions out of fear.

The young man could already slay Tier-5 beasts. If he became a Tier-4 Beast Tamer, then he could kill them as well.

Smith then turned towards Jeremy Night.

”You gave us a huge shock. Even I underestimated you,” he said.

”Don’t mention it,” Jeremy replied.

Smith then collected the declared heads of the hybrid dogs.

He said, ”12 Tier-4 and 9 Tier-5 beasts. 21 beasts in total. There is no difference in tier. So you have gained 2100 credit points and 4200 leaderboard points.”

”The points will be credited to your account shortly,” he added.

Hearing that, Jeremy sighed in relief. He thanked him before leaving the place. Smith watched Jeremy Night’s retreating back.

He thought that the special base needed a catalyst, and he thought Jeremy Night was going to be that catalyst. In this way, they could compete with other special bases.

The other staff rushed to Smith’s side and discussed it. They were shocked as well, while the seniors were left speechless and dumbfounded.

It didn’t take long for the news to spread across the whole base. It reached the ears of the elders as well.
