A Sect from a Spirit Vein

Chapter 438: Chapter 396: Cutting In

Fanx Shang and Wuh Zilan’s intended master is Wang Yu.

Initially, Lu Qian was unsure whether Wang Yu would be willing to accept disciples, but when he tentatively brought it up, Wang Yu agreed effortlessly.

This further confirmed Lu Qian’s speculation that Wang Yu was willing to contribute to anything beneficial for the Yunshan Sect.

Being able to become disciples under Wang Yu, who had already reached Foundation Establishment, was greatly welcomed by the ambitious and diligent Fanx Shang and Wuh Zilan. Additionally, as they were Dao companions, becoming disciples together was also to their liking, and they impatiently performed the ceremonial bowing.

”Having entered my tutelage, you must place life or death aside at all times, devote yourselves entirely to serving our sect, and never retreat in battle,” Wang Yu said in a deep voice.

Even in this public occasion, he still covered his eyes with a veil, though the rumors of his peculiar eyes due to his unique cultivation had already spread, making it less conspicuous.

Fanx Shang and Wuh Zilan replied repeatedly with reverence on their faces.

Subsequently, Wang Yu bestowed them with a gift, a radiant jade umbrella, and a verdant copper bell, which seemed to be two high-tier defense spiritual artifacts.

Lu Qian watched with a smile from the side, uncertain of what impact accepting these two disciples would have on Wang Yu.

As Zheng Duan, Fanx Shang, and Wuh Zilan retreated to the rear hall to wait, only Lin Le and Wu Yan remained in the main hall. The gazes of hundreds of disciples and numerous guests became increasingly focused, and even though the two of them had prior knowledge of the arrangements and were prepared, they were still nervous, their hearts beating rapidly.

By now, everyone understood that Lin Le and Wu Yan were surely going to be accepting the Sect Leader as their master.

But who would be the Sect Leader’s Disciple?

Although the Sect Leader’s Disciple is not necessarily the next Sect Leader, this title still holds a very special status. Often, the Sect Leader’s Disciple can act on behalf of the Sect Leader, wielding extraordinary authority.

For example, Yan Beixing, the Sect Leader’s Disciple of the Mingyu Sword Sect, was here to congratulate on behalf of the sect and Master Cangfeng.

The observing disciples and guests began to speculate.

Could it be Lin Le? After all, seniority dictates that Lin Le was the first disciple to join after the sect’s re-establishment, the master of all the Fifth Generation Disciples.

Or could it be Wu Yan? In the Cultivation Realm, competence often comes first, with the strong revered. Wu Yan is a rare dual spiritual roots talent, with the same natural endowment as the Sect Leader. In just eight years since joining the sect, she has already reached late-stage Qi Cultivation, her path smooth and claimed to be much stronger than Lin Le’s pseudo-spiritual root.

Just as everyone was quietly observing and speculating, Jiang Qingfeng stepped forward in front of the two, with a jade scroll unrolled in her hand.

Everyone held their breath, waiting for her to announce the first name.

”Wait!” Just as Jiang Qingfeng was about to speak, a female voice interrupted her!

Lu Qian felt his heart sink, as everyone simultaneously turned their heads towards the voice, which belonged to none other than Zhang Lemei, the Security Elder of the Yunshan Sect, seated at the head.

The disciples and guests were astonished. This Elder Zhang Lemei had relatively low cultivation, at mid-stage Qi Cultivation, and especially after Tan Hong’s sacrifice, she mostly isolated herself, handing over her duties as Security Elder to two stewards.

She was almost absent from sect affairs, barely speaking out, and even when Lu Qian introduced the elders of Yunshan Sect to the guests earlier, she had simply paid a polite greeting and sat back down quietly, leaving no strong impression.

No one anticipated that such a low-profile elder would suddenly speak up and interrupt the ceremony at this moment.

Jiang Qingfeng looked puzzled, glancing at the expressionless Lu Qian, and slightly frowned, ”Senior Sister Zhang, what guidance do you have?”

At this moment, she also felt a sense of foreboding, hoping that Senior Sister Zhang would not stir up trouble by saying something shocking. If the ceremony were disturbed in such a publicly attended event, it would not only disgrace the Yunshan Sect but also subject Senior Sister Zhang to severe punishment, something she would definitely not want to see.

Seeing Zhang Lemei directly stand up, walk to the steps, and bow to Lu Qian, ”Sect Leader, I propose someone for True Disciple status, may the Sect Leader accept him into the fold!”

Jiang Qingfeng’s breath caught, and her heart sank sharply.

This was entirely outside the planned rehearsal, and according to Yunshan’s laws, disciples’ advancements are based solely on merit, with no provision for nominations, let alone directly nominating Lu Qian to accept this person as a disciple.

Yang Jiye’s face was like water, and he said sternly, ”Junior Sister Zhang, you are confused! If you have any requests, we can discuss them privately after the ceremony. We siblings are open to negotiation.”

Yet, Zhang Lemei stood there resolutely, this seemingly coarse woman looked directly at Lu Qian, as if she was determined to get an answer.

The attention of all the guests shifted, watching this unexpected turn of events intently.

Lu Qian gave Zhang Lemei a deep look and finally spoke, ”I wonder who Senior Sister Zhang is recommending? What merits do they possess to become a True Disciple?”

Zhang Lemei waved her hand, causing a stir among the disciples, yet no one appeared. Impatient, she cursed and went forward, pulling a child from the crowd and bringing him to the main hall.

It was Tan Yunxing!

At that moment, all of Yunshan’s elders and most of the disciples understood.

She intended to have Lu Qian accept Tan Yunxing as a disciple at this crucial moment!

Lu Qian’s gaze shifted to Tan Yunxing, this child not yet nine years old, with unnaturally pale skin from being indoors often, rarely basking in sunlight. His physique was taller than his peers, indicating ample nourishment, and his attire adorned richly, more like a young noble than a cultivator.

Now, Tan Yunxing’s face was flushed red, held tightly by Zhang Lemei, unable to hide, lowering his head and trying hard to shrink into his mother’s shadow.

You could hear Zhang Lemei proudly declare, ”My Yunxing’s spiritual root has matured, he possesses high-grade dual spiritual roots!”

As she finished speaking, she flipped out an Ascension Mirror, lightly sweeping over Tan Yunxing’s Dantian.

In an instant, the mirror emitted a brilliant radiance, revealing a clearly visible dual-colored spiritual root entanglement of black and blue, measuring five inches in length!

It was a five-inch Water-Wood Dual Spiritual Root, the same spiritual root talent as Lu Qian!

The disciples gasped in amazement, unable to believe that among their own Spirit Seedlings, there indeed emerged a Dual Spiritual Root individual.

Moreover, this Dual Spiritual Root was the child of a martyr, both parents being elders of Yunshan, signifying a very prestigious lineage.

Li Da, standing beside Lu Qian, was also stunned. With the appearance of another Dual Spiritual Root disciple in the Yunshan Sect, apart from Wu Yan, his own status as a prodigious youth was in jeopardy, feeling somewhat worried and disheartened.

The guests also expressed admiration, recognizing that a five-inch Dual Spiritual Root was rare even in major sects, worthy of being called a genius.
