Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Hill truly felt that Shaer was quicker to look over things than he was.

But after confirming the terrain, Hill no longer paid attention to Shaer’s attitude.

Lansendel truly deserves the title of ’Young Master’s good friend.’

As a once-powerful Magic Tower, the Defense Tower naturally occupies a very excellent location.

It can be said to be on the alluvial plain at the mouth where a great river flows into the sea.

Especially the area where the Main Tower is located, next to it is a mountain high enough to block the hurricanes sweeping in from the coast.

And as a barren mountain without much plant growth, it’s very obvious that facing towards the sea, the land definitely cannot hold onto any soil.

Only sheer cliffs.

Moreover, because of the constant assault from the sea breeze and the relentless washing from the waves, the cliffs are truly as smooth as mirrors.

Being able to withstand years of storm and rain, this mountain range is unlikely to be merely ordinary rocky mountains... They can definitely be considered naturally forged by storms into Hundred Refined Steel.

The choice of this location for the Defense Tower isn’t without reason; at the very least, the materials for tower construction are truly sufficient... Of the hundreds of continuous peaks, most are composed of metal ore.

Even though most are basic types, not rare in this world, when anything exists in excess, its value still shouldn’t be overlooked.

And beyond the Hundred Refined Steel mountains, among dozens of iron ore mountains, there exists a peculiar yet understandable Magnet Mountain.

Of course, the magnetite varies in size, and some areas have sufficient stone on the surface, making the attraction between this mountain and the iron mountains outside not always strong.

But precisely because of this proximity and distance, largeness and smallness, intriguing spinning winds appear among these peaks.

Moreover, these spin winds are not fixed.

At any time, a piece of rock can be lost from Magnet Mountain, and the spin winds will swiftly change to a different form.

The most troublesome part is when climbing that mountain, no one knows how intense the gravity is in the center... It’s possibly like carrying a burden of over a thousand pounds one moment, and then feeling as light as flying the next.

In the blink of an eye, one might step into thin air.

The key is, no one knows, after stepping into thin air, if they can fly upwards... The gravity below might just flip you upside down.

Of course, none of these mountain peaks are less than kilometers high, and Magnet Mountain is even slightly taller... perhaps because the wind always takes a turn here.

Naturally, such peaks have lightning rods—no, they should be called thunder attractors—that are extremely effective... If other mountains facing the sea are smooth as mirrors, this one is truly like a natural mirror tower.

Otherwise, it wouldn’t frequently drop stones.

Although thunderstorms aren’t frequent, each one is a new thrill.

Building a Magic Tower in such a location is something even devils couldn’t conceive of, right?

Even the Tower Master needs to do a lot of calculations before heading out... And very likely, just after finishing the calculations, a rock might fall, forcing them to recalculate.

”I thought you were going to reward Josh.” Hill observed for a while before asking, ”Don’t even mention the scoldings he’ll get for the stumbles; just say... How do you plan to have him build this tower?”

Hill gently hissed... The most ruthless trick he could think of was to build the Magic Tower atop one of the Hundred Refined Steel cliffs.

Then, on the other side of the equally steep slope, construct a maze that is tricky but has a fixed pattern: such as having the exit change daily due to alterations in the password.

Once the Undead Tribe becomes familiar with it, they only need to hear the password to know the pathway... But surely someone will make a foolish mistake; inevitably, some will go the wrong way.

Those who go wrong will fall off the cliff and have to start over.

Then, place the Magic Tower’s entrance on the cliff side, leaving only a narrow one-meter-wide pathway.

Doing so, although quite unscrupulous, will only result in the Undead Tribe’s own doing their harm.

Hill could foresee how many would utilize this terrain to trap their enemies and friends.

But ultimately, it’s their own actions.

Yet, what Lansendel’s doing is genuinely asking for trouble!

”Not many from the Undead Tribe will come, right?” Hill mumbled.

”Hill, are you serious?” Shaer turned to him, ”Do you seriously think few from the Undead Tribe will come?”

”Initially, many will come, considering the novelty.” Hill furrowed his brow, ”But I don’t think anyone will stay for long.

Once the thrill is gone, they’ll leave; there won’t be casual revisits.”

”That’s probably the outcome Lansendel desires.” Shaer gave a slight smile, ”Eventually, only the family of his good friend will come.

I remember they really enjoy seeking thrills.”

Although university students of every era love the thrill of living on the edge... Spending every effort just to find dangers, does anyone truly want to keep playing such a game?

Hill felt a bit bewildered, but he indeed dared not outright deny it.

What if?

He could only touch his forehead, reminding earnestly: ”You have to leave some room for your own people, don’t you?

The Undead Tribe won’t die, but Josh’s gathered followers surely will.”

There are indeed ways to handle the Magnet Mountain Range... although the Gangfeng winds are indeed harmful.

However, it’s clear that Lansendel intends to limit the use of certain spells.

Lansendel chuckled, ”Hehe,” and said, ”Inside my Dawn Badge, there is a fragment of the Dawn Stone.

Every day, you can directly teleport to the base of the Dawn Tower three times within the area illuminated by the Dawn Stone!”

Hill was a bit bewildered, ”Aren’t there a lot of people from the Undead Tribe who have your Dawn Badge?”

”Nope~” Lansendel happily flapped his wings, ”Each piece of the Dawn Stone has a different wave.

This piece is relatively large, and I haven’t sculpted it much, so there are at most 100 fixed Dawn Badges.

Only Josh and his future students can use it.”

Hill felt that Lansendel was truly sincere about ’seeking trouble,’ so he could only change the subject, ”So, you still haven’t said, how does Josh build this tower?

Aren’t you still planning to have the Undead Tribe contribute?

Do you think any fool is willing to risk their life to deliver building materials to you!”

If the task rewards are plentiful enough, the Undead Tribe could endure... but building tasks? How much can they offer anyway, can it be worth them ruining themselves like this?

”Hehe~” Lansendel said with a grin, ”What I want is glass fiber reinforced plastic, and it seems the Undead Tribe has the recipe.”

”Did Coron provide it?” Hill was slightly surprised.

”Yep~” Lansendel was very happy to say, ”Don’t think he’s at a loss.

Elves love glass fiber reinforced plastic buildings greatly, but few elves are willing to delve deeply into refining it themselves.

Of course, they also don’t like working for others; it seems selling alcohol is the upper class, selling building materials is... hey~

Tsk~

Otherwise, this building material, which can be produced by magical professions at level 10 or so, wouldn’t be as expensive as it is now.

How many elves are willing to do such tedious work anyway!

Yet, the Undead Tribe, as long as there’s money to be made, quite a few are willing to do it.

Moreover, they’re half-elves made by Coron, and the production site is in your Agleya... That self-deceiving group of elves naturally won’t think those things don’t match their status.

Hehe~ However, I think what’s more important is that most of the Undead Tribe’s construction bases are in Hidden Town, and many Mithril Elves are willing to do something for them because of Edna.

The elves of Toril actually wish to get along well with Mystra.

The existence of Mithril Elves...”

Though it was just a bird face, the expressions of the Great Peacock were rich enough for Hill to instantly understand his words.

That was just a cover-up cloth.

Coron, being overly aware of what elves are like, taught glass fiber reinforced plastic and even more elf recipes to the Undead Tribe.

For the elves, this matter entirely originates from Coron’s will, and they just respect it.

But in fact, they are quite willing.

While the money is spent on Coron’s descendants’ territory, the tax is given to Edna Mistrala.

Moreover, because of the existence of the Undead Tribe, they can continue to maintain their long-held aloof and detached stance from the mundane... the former half-elves were originally meant to work for them.

There must be many other unspeakable little thoughts inside... Hill shook his head, lazily wanting to think about those messy things.

Lansendel proudly said, ”Besides, before the Dawn Tower is completed, spells can certainly be used!

If someone uses spells and ends up dead, it can’t be blamed on me!”

Then, after completion, you just break the bridge after crossing it?

”What kind of tasks can you offer?” Hill couldn’t help but ask.

His latter half was kindly omitted... enough to make the Undead Tribe go crazy.

No matter how good the reward for the task, if it were him, he wouldn’t ruin his feelings like this.

As for completely not scolding and peacefully trying again... heh~ ’Hero, please try again,’ who can endure this?

”A lot!” Lansendel raised his head triumphantly, ”All are limited editions!

The building tasks are one batch, and after the Dawn Tower is completed, there will be another batch.

Moreover, they must be completed within a specified time to get the limited rewards; after that time, new rewards will replace them.

Hey~ Hill, although my followers don’t have as many Alchemists like you, there are a lot of artists!

Making strange objects that are beautiful enough, luxurious enough, and with special attribute enhancements isn’t a big deal.”

Um... huh?

Hill looked seriously at the Great Peacock: this guy seemed to have indeed hit the soft spot of the Undead Tribe.

”Heh~” Shaer suddenly let out a cold laugh, ”Lansendel, you finally found something to keep those billions of Divine Kingdom residents busy, right?”

Hill blinked.

Right, all the followers in the Peacock’s divine realm were elves who excelled in the arts.

Over the years, these elves must have accumulated a lot of practice items... no wonder Lansendel said it’s limited rewards.
